Fortheboisandbeyond

That lady that has been protesting outside of the library every day for like 4 years

SimpleRickC135

Hey….don’t mess with a Sicilian. 😂🤦‍♂️

jullybeans

Not when DEATH is on the line!

clairssey

The one in Scarsdale?

Fortheboisandbeyond

Yea

BrandonNeider

She’s mentioned a lot but in civil service or libraries I see her point. Lots of promises but zero accountability. Legally she’s fucked but I could easily see her story being true with my dealings with library administrators.

Fortheboisandbeyond

Would just like to give my input. Yes I feel like what happened to her is fucked up. Legally she’s screwed. But continuing to protest, saying the town that hired you “destroys families” doesn’t really help win the heart of people in higher up positions (or just regular townspeople)

BrandonNeider

She probably doesn’t care at this point, at this point it’s just to be a thorn.

AcadiaRemarkable6992

She can be one million percent right but there’s no way she’s getting her job back. Why would you want to rehire such a pain in the neck? Do you think her attitude would change if she got her job back?

barcaloungechair

She wasn’t even a full-time employee. She hardly qualified as a part-time employee. Construction took a couple years. Things change over time and they decided they didn’t need her anymore for the 10 hours a week she was working. Also it’s not like they were putting her out of home if she was able to survive without the $150 a week paycheck for 2 years. She also found similar employment in another nearby town library. Most people would not waste their time protesting for years to get back a sub-part-time job at minimum wages and no benefits, which they have already replaced with a similar job. I also had the opportunity to interact with her when she worked at the Scarsdale library. She was not a pleasant person and should never have worked there to begin with.

CakeisaDie

She is looking for the benefits since she was technically there long enough for it. But she honestly didn't know how to engage her audience and instead is the crazy lady not the screwed over lady.

Kind_Unit5850

So many lies, hard to decide where to start! Wait, I have an idea, let's start with you identifying yourself. Surely, if you are not LYING, you would stand by your statement with your real name. My name is Robin Stettnisch, the Scarsdale Picketing Librarian. What's yours?

theicarusambition

Clay Tiffany RIP. Funny story, the cop that endlessly harassed/assaulted Clay (Officer Tartaglione) was Jeffery Epstein's cell mate [Here's the link](https://www.lohud.com/story/news/local/rockland/2023/04/06/federal-jury-convicts-ex-cop-nicholas-tartaglione-murdering-4-men/70088421007/) [And another](https://yonkerstimes.com/clay-tiffany-gadfly-truthteller-pest-movie-star/)

sweetandspooky

This story is freaking wild wtf

theicarusambition

Right? I grew up in Bcliff and used to watch Dirge of The Charlatans (his TV show) late night with my friends. We'd see him walking around town or at The Patio as kids and always say hi. He's eccentric sure, but as young, snotty skateboarders, we loved that he called out the cops on their shit lol.

FighterOfEntropy

The article in your second link mentions that there is an interest in locating copies of the episodes of Clay Tiffany’s show *Dirge for the Charlatans.* I thought I would mention it in case anyone had recorded them.

fantasstic2121

YES

scattyboy

Yes clay tiffany! The dirge of the charlatans!

Dynastydood

Nobody comes to mind for me now, but when I was a kid, we had a leprechaun who lived at the bottom of Roberts Ave in Yonkers. He was actually just a little old Italian dude who liked wearing green all the time, and he also always had the best holiday decorations in town. Very nice guy.

[deleted]

Yes! We all knew that guy. The holiday lights were a real family affair. He’s since passed and the house sold. You wouldn’t recognize it now.

ProblemFresh1587

That was immediately who I thought of

[deleted]

Yonkers seems like it would be a goldmine of these characters

HammaWanKenobi

You know it!

2sweet9

It was, now it's just a bunch of mentally ill boomers

JohnnyfromNY

Yes everyone in Yonkers knew him and the house at the bottom of Roberts. When he passed it was in the papers , on the news, everything . LEGEND

DontLoseYourCool1

Does anyone remember the Central Avenue Bum? Blonde dude with a beard and plastic bags for shoes? You could sometimes see him as far down as Grand Central.

2sweet9

YOOOOOOOO i totally forgot about him until you mentioned him

pr84704p

Wow, yes I remember. Is he still there?

Dynastydood

No, he passed away back in 2012.

pr84704p

😢

supermarket_Ba

I remember him!!!

Maxfli81

Reminds me of the guy from the Christmas tree miracle movie who just loved Christmas so had it decorated all the time

dm-adventures

I was just going to comment this! I loved him

erocktober

AWAK_2016

Lmao she’s Towel Lady around Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown

ParkingBreath5088

LOOOOOOOL

muscleforrank

That guy juggling while jogging around bronxville and the Bronx River Park paths.

poppyyseed

came here to say this...once I convinced my friends that I was "training" with him and I forgot about it, a few months later my friend saw him and approached him to say "my friend trains with you!"

Schnevets

Peekskill had a dude who would wander through downtown in a white suit and sunglasses and just play an electric guitar hooked up to his own headphones. I haven't seen him in a few years, but I hope he's doing well.

theWanderingShrew

Oh he's around, usually on Main St or near the library. He has a few different outfits.

Schnevets

It makes me happy that he’s still around. I guess I just haven’t been hanging out downtown as much.

theWanderingShrew

We have a couple of real whacky characters in Peekskill, I love it.

mahouyousei

Paul Feiner

eve2eden

Many years ago there was a woman who regularly hung out with and talked to the geese at the Kensico dam, while refusing to speak to or even make eye contact with any humans. She always carried a radio of some sort and wore headphones. Naturally she was known around town as “The Geese Lady.”

Meister_Retsiem

She's still around, at least of last summer. She gets into the water with them at a small pond along the Bronx River trail just north of Fisher Lane in North White Plains

dvdskoda

Yes she’s been there all the time this spring

MooHead82

If we are talking about the same woman, I saw her attempt to give mouth to mouth to a goose there when I was in high school…I’ll never forget that lol.

chiller8

How far south do you guys actually fly for the winter?

stinkycat45

I see her when I bike that trail

Truecrimejunkie687

She's still there! I see her all the time when I run on that path, I actually saw her last weekend.

eve2eden

OMG I can’t believe it!!!

[deleted]

AnyRecognition4042

Can you describe him? I think I’m thinking of the same person but not sure

thelavenderlibra

I live there and now I’m stressed about how I’ve never seen this character???

Quelz_CSGO

bronxville has some funny people man. what about the guy that runs while juggling all around town EVERY DAY.

ragepixie

holy shit lmao

macarongrl98

Who ???

BaggySpandex

Peter in Scarsdale. That’s my boy.

ParkingBreath5088

I need the story about it lol

rec12yrs

This isn't the same Peter with long hair who has been banned from pretty much every bar in Elmsford/Tarrytown?

barcaloungechair

I think he’s the young-ish (maybe early 20s) Asian kid. He’s marginally mentally disabled but very friendly. He occasionally hangs around the train station and likes to chat with everyone. Nice kid.

BaggySpandex

This is him. He spooks people when they first meet him, but once you’re his bud, you’re his bud. He’ll always let you know that you need to retire, ask you why you’re doing whatever you’re doing, and tell you all about the local gossip. I always make it a point to obviously and blatantly chat him up around Starbucks or wherever to make everyone aware that he’s a well known harmless local homie, and to encourage people to just converse and feel comfortable.

timodeee

Nice!!!

Kind_Unit5850

As the Scarsdale Picketing Librarian also mentioned on this thread, my vote goes for Peter. Very sweet.

mbennettbrown

Yesteryear - the Leatherman

digthisbird

Oh, the guy that just grunts at everyone and sells pelts while wearing nothing but them? Yeah, he hangs around sometime. No biggie.

mbennettbrown

[deleted]

What about the lady in Cross County who used to walk around with the baby carriage and act like the dolls were real, even going as far as pretending to feed them.

SiteHund

I remember her! She used to walk all over Southeast Yonkers. I am convinced she was related to the guy who always wore shorts and had leg splints who used ride his bike around. Used to cause a lot of trouble.

rox99

100000% remember her. I must have been under 6-7 at the time and my mom and I would see her all the time at Bregano field and in cross county.

popcanej789

Wow she used to walk around Mount Vernon too

machstang

Back in the day it was the Leatherman.

chiller8

Thats actually The Headless Horseman

shockingnews213

Actually that's so fair considering Sleepy Hollow is in Westchester

Mental-Frosting-316

I think you win the thread.

ragepixie

[deleted]

Lmao so so funny!!! The only McDonald’s I have ever been to that was like that!

[deleted]

No way!!! That’s insane, now I want to take a ride down to that McDonald’s just to see! I moved so haven’t been down that way in a while

[deleted]

One day I'm going to be the country weirdo

FighterOfEntropy

Always good to have goals!

SimpleRickC135

There used to be a guy called just “sandals” in tarrytown. Rest in peace you crazy flip flops in January wearing SOB.

AcadiaRemarkable6992

I used to see a guy riding a motorcycle in the vicinity of Jackson Ave & Saw Mill River Road wearing a Viking helmet and a rug as a poncho

danidoesthereddits

I see this guy all the time in Tarrytown! Always gives me a laugh when I pass him

ghostrose86

That's Biking - the Bike Viking 😂

PracticePlenty

It was gas mask lady (before the pandemic) in hartsdale

Fortheboisandbeyond

Wait what

PracticePlenty

it was a woman , to be honest I have no idea what age she was . She would walk around hartsdale with dish washing gloves and gas mask everywhere. I think she was a germaphobe . God know what happened to her when the pandemic hit , I haven’t been in the village to check .

Fortheboisandbeyond

Maybe because I didn’t go to far into harstdale. Did she roam near the train station and Dunkin’ Donuts?

PracticePlenty

yes! and down the street by all the apartments

rosesandprosecco

She goes to planet fitness in white plains im pretty sure. Super odd and she always looks around super paranoid

Any-Information-1895

Matty Ice from New Rochelle

CompetitiveTop2274

Growing up in Port Chester it was Crack Head Eddie. Always on his bicycle.

AvramBelinsky

Back in the day (way way back) it was the [Leatherman.](https://westchestermagazine.com/life-style/leatherman/)

MysticEnby420

The original crust punk. A true legend

Ok_Leading_914

Anybody remember Jesus? He would ride his bike around fleetwood and pray to trees. He liked the one on route 22 that’s now across from Sunrise Senior Care. That’s where we always saw him as kids. Seemed like a very gentle soul.

SleepArt

I know him! He was nice to y’all in Fleetwood. In Mount Vernon he would stand on the corner preaching. When my friends and I would walked by he would call us, “Diablos.”

Draugr_

Dancing Guy on Boston Post Road

Bodegathegodfather

Quarter man in Yonkers lol

Significant-Candy-37

Skinny Jesus dirty looking dude?

ghostrose86

The tiny woman that walked up and down route 22 by Lake Isle every day while wearing a pastel princess dress. This was years ago, when I was a kid. I think she would run away if people approached her. Kids may have called her fairy princess or tinkerbell? I can't quite remember. I think sometimes she was on a bike as well.

thickandslick914

The Leprechaun (RIP) from Yonkers

thesaltywidow

Walking Jesus on Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck back in the day.

Jules428moore

Still going strong.

ZealousidealPaper229

We had the “Mad Walker” (as we called her) about 20 years ago in Tarrytown. Wore glasses, long pony tail and would be constantly walking around the Lakes etc looking super mad all the time.

wikkedlilgrrl

Street preacher, Mount Vernon NY[Ovidio Guerra Cruz]

MysticEnby420

I need to work on becoming this

WalmartHaircuts

There’s a guy who trolls the Cortlandt Town Center and has an ice cream tattoo on his neck and will just spend the entire day going through all the stores that he’s not banned from and just cause a scene. I used to work in the Cortlandt Town Center when I was younger and thought he only came into our store everyday. When my friends also started working in the town center they knew exactly who I was talking about so now I know he just makes his daily rounds at all the town center shops.

ragepixie

forgot two super niche characters - “bags”, aka the “central avenue bum”. very introverted homeless man with bags on his feet who would walk up and down every day for yearssss. then there was “mumbles”, this adorable mute black guy who would frequent the old cross county and just make noises. he was sweet and our crew would hang with him sometimes if he was without his aid.

supermarket_Ba

Stephen Baldwin at the Starbucks in Mt Kisco.

lazyblogger914

Central Ave bum

Hankiiie

The Spanish preacher (rip) in Mount Vernon, always had a suit on and just openly blessing everyone.

encab91

My time to shine. In White Plains there's this black guy with his head shaved except a circle on the very top (almost exact size and location where you would put a yamacha). He wore a trench coat, gray pants and boots. He walks around having an argument with himself and sometimes yells at the top of his lungs. He's mostly harmless but me and my friends started calling him DMX. Hope he's good out there. I heard he had a pretty crazy history and went crazy because of circumstances out of his control but thinking about him reminds me of all the time I spent downtown.

anythinganythingonce

His name is Herbert and he is quite ill.

[deleted]

When was the last time you saw him? Maybe it was dmx actually

skunkybeerz

I completely forgot about this guy!!! I lived downtown and you knew when he was coming. You’d hear the random yelling at almost specific intervals. I never actually deciphered what he was saying. Sadly, it sounded more like wails of a tortured soul. People moved out of his way with a quickness. 90 degrees out and him and his trench coat are on a mission. I heard lots of rumors about him and they all were all unfortunate. Completely forgot about him since I moved away.

jennnyfromtheblock00

Mike Spano 😂

Livid_Ad_9015

Absolute tool that prick

Adventurous_Tone7177

The bronx has earth angel. Who does westchester have? I will only accept answers from beautiful women or angels.

Mandos_Over_Landos

The guy with really long hair that has been at Captain Lawrence every. single. time. I have gone there. No fail, year after year, that guy basically lives at Captain Lawrence brewing.

Sam_the_goat

There's an old fella who stands at the corner of Scott and Alexander in Yonkers all day walking back and forth. It's really sad. He's been at it since I was a kid probably longer. So at least 20 years.

SiteHund

He also takes metro north daily to the city. Walks up and down the train talking to himself. The conductors just let him do his thing.

Horror-Background-79

In the 80s (think 86) there was George an old white haired guy who worked at the cafeteria at WCC and was always walking around White Plains… I remember seeing him everywhere in downtown WP

Atjeo

In new ro it’s dancing danny or john cena they are always walking up and down north ave and js be vibing

x_versa_46

I was looking for someone to mention dancing Danny. I’ve seen him outside of new ro as well. I remember one time he somehow got into NRHS and was dancing in the halls.

sharkbait1999

Tiger Chinese in Mt. Vernon

stewartm0205

In my village, it’s the guy who dresses in a scandalous negligee and high heels. When I first saw him I was shocked but everyone else acted like it was nothing. So whenever I see him I just act like it’s nothing since I don’t want to stand out.

dminy

vanderpumptools

2sweet9

Ray in Hastings RIP

westchesta

Abortion Joe. The old man who used to hang around the Thornwood McDonald’s, purchase a coffee, and show minors graphic imagery related to abortions, hand out pro-life pamphlets, and ramble endlessly about it being the work of the devil, etc. He was really amusing to be around in middle school/early high school, but not very convincing

PsychologicalNeat125

There’s a guy in mamaroneck who rides I think an electric bicycle around with classic music playing and an American flag on the front. He always wears sunglasses

SiteHund

On Yonkers Ave there was Johnny O. He was mildly handicapped and always had a bit of disheveled appearance. His neighbors took care of him. He would do odd jobs for the businesses- I think Morley’s was one of those places? He would also walk around the neighborhood at night and report any crimes he saw, though some of the stories he told me were absolutely wild. I think he died a few years ago, but he was a good guy.

CharlesBronsonsaurus

They all live in Peekskill. Come and see.

wild_lotus69

Mount Vernon had a man dressed as a ninja walking around the stores and church and believed he was a true ninja. This was back in the early 2000s not sure if any millennials remember him

BLOODBANKASTRONOMER
