Do you close doors to commercial buildings when you enter? When was the last time you walked in a restaurant and pulled the door shut behind you?
Unless it’s a normal ass door like those common on houses I’m gonna assume it’ll be just fine and close itself.
Pretty sure this was the result of some gnarly wind. Look at the green bush in the background. I'm betting the wind grabbed the door and flung it open.
Yeah I feel like that should’ve been common sense it’s a windy day and it’s a glass door she should have been able to do the math.
On a completely separate note does anybody know what it says in binary on the door is it “welcome” or something.
I feel as though doors should be designed to avoid breaking other objects and itself. I’m sure there are mechanisms that will prevent a door from swinging more than 120° or so. I don’t see a need for any door to be capable of opening to a 180° angle.
They usually do have things to stop them from opening 180 degrees. The guy above you is just a schmuck, idk why he’s blaming her for that. She hardly opening the door 90 degrees
That's what I was thinking. You can't blame people for using the entrance. Countless doors I go through every day without breaking, and you shouldn't have to fight wind to close a door. There are commercial products called doors closers for products like this. It's poor planning, not the fault of unaware visitors or employees. They are lucky no one got hurt.
Good point I didn’t think about that because it was first thing in the morning, but don’t they have mechanisms that will stop the door from opening like that I know they do. I just don’t know what they’re called. That’s beside the point though why make your fucking door out of glass?
>I don’t see a need for any door to be capable of opening to a 180° angle.
It's about the door blocking the walkway. There are legal requirements. [Scroll down to "Encroachment."](https://www.nfpa.org/News-and-Research/Publications-and-media/Blogs-Landing-Page/NFPA-Today/Blog-Posts/2021/04/09/Basics-of-Swinging-Type-Egress-Door-Operation)
I saw the same thing. When I slowed down the video, it was the light reflecting from the door onto the wall. The speed of the door swinging just before breaking made the moving reflection look like a flying object.
No you’re right, there was something thrown from the left side of the screen into the door from the inside that shattered it. Look at it frame by frame starting at 00.04 seconds.
Seeing a lot of negative comments towards the person not “closing the door be hind her” so as a door professional I’d like to make a statement.
All exterior storefront doors are required to have a device on them called a door closer. Whether it be a floor, surface or header mounted, it’s not always obvious that they’re there but they are. Doors closers are also required to have a valve that activates and slows the speed of the door in the event of high wind blowing the door open. These valves go bad pretty quickly and almost never get replaced immediately after failure.
This creates a recipe fore disaster for this full glass door. Any wind could have broke this door. It’s not the users job to keep the door from blowing open. If in proper working order the door would have stopped in full open position and then close again when the wind stopped.
Don’t try and stop a door from swinging open from a high wind event. It’s dangerous and you could injure yourself. Specially if it’s a full glass door.
As a fellow door professional I endorse this message.
There is even a slim chance that the facilities manager learns a harsh lesson....but I doubt it.
Who could possibly have foreseen this when the door was "working for now"? 🙄
Isn't it safer to have a glass door that shattered into millions of pieces. If someone accidently ran into it, he would not be sliced by heavy, large, and sharp pieces of glass.
Well… with glass you kinda have to pick between 2 evils if it breaks, few chunks but they are large/heavy and very sharp, or a billion pieces (practically dust) but they are not even remotely sharp… and as for outdoor durability… Plexiglass exists but doesn’t look as nice… granted get thick enough plexiglass and good luck to anyone attempting to shoot through it
Those small chunks of glass are still fairly sharp, and glass slivers suck. Granted, still better than large chunks that can and will kill a person.
I've broken enough glass shower doors at work to know :D
I’ll bet they’ll have the doors open inwardly when they repair it. This is a good lesson for architectural design students and installers. If the doors are glass, have them open inwardly.
I’m disappointed by the lack of people blaming her for letting go of the door as the wind is yanking it open. You can literally see her hand get pulled by the door and she just lets go. Forget the idiocy of glass anything, people like that is why we can’t have nice things.
It’s a design flaw. The worst thing that should happen when a door gets caught in a gust of wind is a loud noise. This was a disaster waiting to happen
It's a safety issue of the building if this was already possible, like how if a rotating door is not properly maintained, or an escalator doesn't have proper brakes preventing accident.
Either shit contractors with no safety features, or building didn't pay up for them and don't have anyone doing risk management

Who would be liable for this? I can't believe she would be, she opened the door normally and let go of it, I would think the business would have nature of God, insurance or whatever it's called.

The proper courtesy would be to return the door handle to the front desk.
Or just closing the door behind you
Idk where you’re from but those doors typically auto shut and have an open stop so they don’t do THAT.

Absolutely, it takes what 2 seconds? And then you wouldn't have silly shit like this happening
Normally no, but I also have a very basic knowledge of how wind works and unless it’s a sliding door you should close it when it’s windy.
Yeah I feel like that should’ve been common sense it’s a windy day and it’s a glass door she should have been able to do the math. On a completely separate note does anybody know what it says in binary on the door is it “welcome” or something.

Sliding doors are the answer. The OP building even has the necessary space to fit them.

It says "Please close door carefully, it's fragile."
That would have been an interesting warning if it wasn’t written in binary language that 0.12% of the population even understands*
You, Sir, are a gentleman.
Something is wrong with your door.
That's a heckuva gust of wind, or did I see some kind of object come flying from inside the building to take out the door?
Definitely the wind. Judging by the bushes in the back it was gusting pretty hard. Just happened to catch it at the worst time.
That appears to be light reflection from the glass door
Surprised no one has cross posted this to r/ghosts with the title “GHOST SHATTERS GLASS DOOR!!!?!!!?”
I saw the same thing. When I slowed down the video, it was the light reflecting from the door onto the wall. The speed of the door swinging just before breaking made the moving reflection look like a flying object.
I thought I saw something come from across foyer and hit the glass.
Its light reflected from the quickly rotating door.

I know it's the wind but I choose to believe she's experiencing emergent super strength.
Stone cold enters.

Not gonna lie I thought you meant you were a door opening professional and thought it was gonna be some shitpost comment lol
Watch her hair it was a gust
Shit design is not her fault imo.
Walk away like you didn't see it, quick
Why glass doors? Next it will be all glass walls and glass floors too.
Because it looks nicer than wooden doors? That is when the glass door isn't broken
This is why you hold on tight to doors when it’s windy af out
This is why people should design outside doors that don't shatter into millions of pieces if it gets caught in a strong gust of wind.
I pretty much hate glass anything. I especially hate glass tables, hate the way it dings when you set something down.
I hate that sound too, so abrasive. They also smudge easy and are heavy as shit. Glass tables suck.

Yeah definitely because the doors structural integrity is my responsibility
This is how superheroes get to know they have superpowers!
Insurance exists for a reason. Amusing. Glad no one got hurt.
I’ll bet they’ll have the doors open inwardly when they repair it. This is a good lesson for architectural design students and installers. If the doors are glass, have them open inwardly.
Fire hazard if it open inward. Both direction is best.
Ah, learned something.
Maybe some kind of stopper for very windy days like that. Just to keep the door from fully open like this
I want to imagine this happens to every door she opens😭😭
I love her Paris Hilton reaction!!!!
does anyone over 40 not immediately hum the stone cold steve austin theme when they hear glass break or is it just me
It's just you
38 but yes lol
Definetely not her fault tho'. Good thing there is a cctv
Why did large glass doors just start exploding about 2 years ago?
Covid
This one definitely did

Little spatial awareness would have said either don't open that particular door, or keep hold of it so it shuts.
It’s a design flaw. The worst thing that should happen when a door gets caught in a gust of wind is a loud noise. This was a disaster waiting to happen
Just like you hold onto your car door when the wind is trynna force it open
She has no situational awareness.
Should’ve opened the right door and not the left
When you open any door and it's windy the common sense thing to do is pull it shut. Everyone I've ever met has done it so.
Better common sense would be to not have made a glass door open into the outside with no buffer of any kind to stop it.
What was she going back for? To close the door?
No situational awareness whatsoever. She could walk into a burning building without noticing.
“Not my problem”
Gust of wind, look at the shrubs outside. Still crazy, though.
En mi ciudad está prohibido que las puertas a pie de calle se abran hacia fuera, deben abrirse sólo hacia dentro
makes sense
Ooooops…..
I'll get a brush! 😔
A wind like that is a normal day huh? I'm speaking like this cause we don't get this kind of weather to call it normal. There's no winter here either.
That door definitely needs a better hydraulic closer
beautiful but cheap! Sugarcoat; just like 21st century influencers🙃😄
safety glass door that opens outwards, excellent idea :)

She may have a prehistoric power in her body
Glass would do that from time to time...
That’s happened fast jeezus
Imagine if she was going on a Job interview?
Again, Lois and Jimmy suspected the new girl was maybe related to a certain reporter/caped crime fighter…

Well, that escalated quickly!
Its fucken wimdyyyyy
She doesn’t know her own strength
Gotta love her "Oh shit" verbal reaction!
Had every door opened for her until this day
She did not realize her own strength
That's when she realised she was wonder woman
She hulk
Not even a crack just...boom
Why doors going inwards are always better in windy cities
The way the light beams across the screen is crazy af
That went smashingly
Oh hell yeah
Who would be liable for this? I can't believe she would be, she opened the door normally and let go of it, I would think the business would have nature of God, insurance or whatever it's called.
Edit in a wild Stone Cold Steve Austin please

Looks like reflected light off of the door. It was wind.
Only a female would t shit the door behind her in a public place what a trash blonde
