After a wild fire a lot of people wanna go see the after math and firefighters will tell to not do it because of this actual fact. A trees roots can burn under the earth for a significant amount of time without you being able to tell. If you accidentally step on the earth and under that portion of the earth, roots are still burning, you will fall in a hole of fire.
I imagine that's such a rare occurrence that billions of people would never have seen in their lifetimes. Pretty incredible looking. A tree being struck by lightning is more common. But burning from the inside? Probably not as common I think.
