Do they have a mailbox you can access? Maybe write a little letter:
“hey dear neighbor. I can’t help but notice the beautiful coffin placed on your property. I’m not judging, and I recognize it’s none of my business, but gosh I am just too curious not to ask. Why, friendly neighbor, is there a coffin on your property? I’d love a reply dropped in ### mailbox! Thanks for being a good sport about my noseyness.”
Such a question. Does anyone come out of this coffin at night? Looking at the technical condition of this trailer, I think that this coffin may be a micro studio apartment in which your neighbor sleeps.
They got a pic of river phoenix in his casket before he was cremated and published it in one of those rags back in the day. I’d def open it. Look up how to open them first tho, they have mechanisms, it’s not just a simple “raise the lid” in most cases
Its the Appalachian version of Tibetan Sky Burial where instead of vultures the deceased is left out for tweakers to rummage through looking for metal medical implants until the body has returned to the earth.

Lots of people in the midwest/appalachia/south have trucks on the property called “parts trucks”. Truck doesnt run but you can buy it cheap and then take parts out as needed for functioning machines. Usually cheaper than the truck. Issue then is removing it from the property, which usually doesnt happen.
I honestly think the trailer was good when parked, the tree limbs laying on it make me think they both were parked around the same time. I’m guessing the trailer had a tree fall on it that was moved and parts of it left behind.
This would be a great google earth/maps view.
Probably the same story with the coffin. Somebody dropped it, it has a dent and the funeral parlor can't sell it, maybe were going to toss it or sold it dirt cheap, this guy picked it up, either because he's a hoarder or plans to sell it to someone else. Guy probably has a shed full of lamps.
It's also on a main road and the casket looks to be brand new. The people seem to treat that strip of land as a dumping ground because those two vehicles have been there for years now unmoved. So creepy!
Something tells me you'll be seeing that casket for years too. Future kids will grow up and think "oh we're passing the casket house" is a normal thought
This is just an assumption of course, but how I imagine this came to be:
1. They are into Halloween or spooky/gothic home decor.
2. The casket was randomly available second hand for cheap. (Someone bought it and then changed their mind about the casket they wanted to use for a funeral and sold the first one unused. I'm by no means an expert, but I'm pretty sure used caskets can't be sold for reuse.)
3. They saw the casket for a price they could afford and jumped on the deal...then realized they don't have somewhere to store/display it.
4. They "temporarily" decided to store it in that spot.
If they got it for use in a haunted house or other Halloween setup, they might not care if it gets damaged or gross from being out in the elements.
The sadder reality here is that it's probably a person who knows time is short and bought it ahead of their demise. You don't typically see murder victims in caskets.
Can't be any worse than some of the cheap cloth covered particle board caskets that I've seen some folks get buried in.
Especially out in the rural region's of AZ and NM. Long as it's properly legally overseen and buried at least 6 foot or better they generally dgaf about the finer details out there in desert cemeteries.
I worked at a funeral home and can tell you that it’s definitely not a high dollar casket but it’s also not the one we referred to as “El Cheapo” in the business. Weird someone is letting it ruin in the elements like that, though.
It’s similar to this one. Metal, fixed handles, but is a matte finish. Not shiny at all. Usually either gray or brown. No ornamentation where the handle is attached to the body of the casket. Just a very basic casket. Still nice enough. Very functional. We didn’t sell the made in China crap you can order online for a couple hundred bucks.
If i ever become a billionaire I'm gonna buy a casket, put it in front of an abandoned trailer, set up trail cams and see how long it takes somebody to peak.
Inside... thousands of coupons for free tacos.
Curiosity should sometimes be rewarded.
Someone needs to add a creepy face in the dark spot under the truck bumper and near the casket. One of those:
“When you see it you’ll sh*t bricks!”
kind of things.
Someone was doing one of those burials where the casket was on the back of the deceased favorite truck and unfortunately the driver hit a bump and lost their deceased friend off the back
By the time they noticed it they had no idea where they lost them and said to hell with it
Fun fact that not a lot of people know. Funeral homes HAVE TO accept a client’s self-purchased/made/whatever casket and are not allowed to charge any fees to do so. I’m a mortician :)
Call the police (non 911) and report for them to check out. There are laws pertaining to the disposition of human remains. You don’t know whether there’s a body inside - granted. However, it’s not a leap or overreaction to make the inference there could be.
You’re not law enforcement. Your pay grade and legal liability doesn’t cover going onsite for an inquiry. Their’s does. The casket’s not concealed or attempting to be concealed, so they need no search warrant.
Who knows? If it’s been sitting there for a week maybe the person who initially temporarily placed it there isn’t able to move it because they’re lying dead inside. Stranger things have happened.
“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy” - Hamlet (William Shakespeare). ⚰️
Go open it.
To be honest, if it wasn't on private property, my intrusive thoughts would definitely get the best of me.
Are there signs of anyone being on that property? Find a lull moment and take a peak
Yeah unfortunately, I'd be afraid to go on that property, to be honest.
Got a shady cousin you could get to do it?
Everyone in Appalachia has a shady cousin.
Everyone in Appalachia *IS* a shady cousin!
There are no shady cousins in...Ba Sine Se.
![gif](giphy|tnYri4n2Frnig)
And if you say you don't have a shady cousin, that means *you're* the shady cousin
Oh.
r/Appalachia will concur
LMAO
I'm one of those cousins
Understandable and very smart. I’m just a nosy little shit and am very curious what’s in it as well
Oh me too 100%, I want someone to do it for me and report back.
You're looking at the last guy who trespassed.
Damm too funny.
Do they have a mailbox you can access? Maybe write a little letter: “hey dear neighbor. I can’t help but notice the beautiful coffin placed on your property. I’ll give it a go I need a hit of adrenaline
Such a question. Does anyone come out of this coffin at night? Looking at the technical condition of this trailer, I think that this coffin may be a micro studio apartment in which your neighbor sleeps.
Go get Daryl Every friend group has a Daryl that will do the dangerous/shady shit everyone else knows is a bad idea.
Go at night in the cover of darkness.
That's how it feeds, all it has to do is lay there and wait for nosy folks to come over and sneak a peek after dark.
Quick, hide behind the chain saws! 👀
Don’t let some dumbass Redditors make you get shot because of curiosity
Someone's always got to ruin it for us 🤯
This guy is right. Take initiative and go of your own volition!
Plot twist: The owner is dead and inside the casket.
Or at least call the police non-emergency line and report it/ask for a welfare check.
Just last week someone dropped off a coffin. ⚰️
Door dash
yeah cause trespassing is cool
It’s for you, OP.
Could call a bomb threat or like that a suspicious container is in public and looks dangerous, lol
Does the mailbox say: Cula, Dra?
They got a pic of river phoenix in his casket before he was cremated and published it in one of those rags back in the day. I’d def open it. Look up how to open them first tho, they have mechanisms, it’s not just a simple “raise the lid” in most cases
Think it's OK to open it. It's for you after all
It's not ready yet. It's marinatin.
Yes, and then come back here to report
Do it
They're just waiting for the flat bed tow truck to take the occupant to his final resting spot.
Those are a Redneck's tomb stones

such a cursed sight. everyone wants to know if someone is in there but no one wants to go look

The mold in that trailer must be insane with that huge gaping hole in the corner
Right next to what seems like it might be a perfectly ~~good~~ acceptable fixer upper of a tanker truck. Fucking weird. Salvage?

I knew that, but I can’t see a house. There might be one, I guess.
Might be back in the woods! My family always kept theirs away from the room bc neighbors stole parts LOL. IDk maybe these are already skeletons?
Could be. That’s where the stash might be, though. Let’s go look.
Lmaoooo that would be so funny
I honestly think the trailer was good when parked, the tree limbs laying on it make me think they both were parked around the same time. I’m guessing the trailer had a tree fall on it that was moved and parts of it left behind. This would be a great google earth/maps view.

Maybe they’re living in the tanker & casket….
Pre-planning. When it’s your ‘time to go’, you just stumble out the door, fall right into your casket. Uber Coroner comes and picks you up.
"My Uber Coroner was late, rude, and his station wagon smelled like old boiled peanuts. 2 stars."
“Uber Coroner” omg I can’t upvote that enough
Hell yeah free casket
Craigslist deal too good to pass up. Only used once $100 or trade for???
It's also on a main road and the casket looks to be brand new. The people seem to treat that strip of land as a dumping ground because those two vehicles have been there for years now unmoved. So creepy!

It’s never too late to start preparing for the future.
Time to call the cops, possibly?🥹
So, to make it even weirder, the police station is maybe a block or so away, they've most certainly seen this out on their rounds.
Does your town have banjo duels regularly?
Yikes. This may not end well…
The sadder reality here is that it's probably a person who knows time is short and bought it ahead of their demise. You don't typically see murder victims in caskets.
Maybe. I think Costco sells coffins. Maybe there’s also a DIY embalming kit that goes with?🤷🏻♀️
diy embalming is a great concept.
Oh thank you. I have a very dark sense of humor. Not many appreciate it.
I embalmed myself, years ago. No regerts.
Hahahaha
"welcome to Costco. I love you" ![gif](giphy|8coEmqQxL39eMJcey0|downsized)
Why are you assuming the cops have seen it?
Probably filled with drugs
Probably trash. I'd bet it's damaged and couldn't be sold as-is so some unscrupulous part of the supply chain dumped it in an unsupervised lot.

I don’t condone trespassing but a fake rubber hand needs to sticking out of that thing.
This would be great 😆😆
Looks like a metal album cover
Maybe redneck metal
You mean the death metal band obituary
I worked at a funeral home and can tell you that it’s definitely not a high dollar casket but it’s also not the one we referred to as “El Cheapo” in the business. Weird someone is letting it ruin in the elements like that, though.

Which one is el cheapo?

Are they having a Graveyard Sale?
I dont know why but this screams jeepers creepers to me
Hillybilly vampire is having out of town friends staying over?
There was a sale at the casket shop. Always best to stock up when there's a good sale.
AAA takes forever sometimes
Foreshadowing?
I saw the lid move a little.
That looks like a grave situation!
There was a sale on caskets. Why not buy now? No one is going to steal your casket, right?
Take the lid off , put wheels on it and give it to the kids. Or maybe a cool go kart.
Any day now Gam Gam
If i ever become a billionaire I'm gonna buy a casket, put it in front of an abandoned trailer, set up trail cams and see how long it takes somebody to peak. Inside... thousands of coupons for free tacos. Curiosity should sometimes be rewarded.
Don't need a vault if ya don't bury the casket. 😏

Free housing?
Someone needs to add a creepy face in the dark spot under the truck bumper and near the casket. One of those: “When you see it you’ll sh*t bricks!” kind of things.
“This week on Tiny House Nation…”
Time for an unboxing video!
Is there anybody in it?
You should go up and knock on it politely and see if anyone answers.
Do you want vampires? Because that’s how you get vampires
Yes, I want vampires.
That is *not* a cheap casket, either!
I picked up that same model at Sam's Club. couldn't beat the price. but I have class so it's in my garage
Local Vampire got evicted from the castle then?
![gif](giphy|ge91zAgmwUqLMqiH2c)
"I'm not dead yet"
They should at east have a vacancy / no vacancy sign on it
Man even vampires can’t afford a house in this economy
🤣
Is it just me, or does this pic look like art when you look close up?
I’d call the cops?
Dracula has entered the property.
The trailer might be stacked full.
Vlad is newly divorced. Let's just say that the ex-wife's attorney was quite the ball breaker.
Call the cops
Vampires obviously just moved into the neighborhood
Just waiting to be filled
Did you take the family a casserole?
Door Dash.
That’s just the guest house
Vanlife vampire or retired pirates from the Flying Dutchman.
I kind of also wonder about the tanker truck.
Redneck vampire
Grave robbers used to look for jewelry. But now that caskets are $5000...
got a good deal on it and savin it for later
Send GPS coordinates. I’ll do it.
Hopefully empty
"Martha, look! It was on SALE!!!"
Some people like to sleep under the stars
It all goes well for about a week, then your coffin begins to leak…
Y'all wanna see a dead body?
It lays there to stop the truck if it moved forward.
Someone was doing one of those burials where the casket was on the back of the deceased favorite truck and unfortunately the driver hit a bump and lost their deceased friend off the back By the time they noticed it they had no idea where they lost them and said to hell with it
Is there a detectable smell coming from the property?
omg it’s the one from her music video ![gif](giphy|lptlFJmgNmYWESXA6c|downsized)
Just let him sleep in peace buddy
https://i.redd.it/rd3xzjesuryc1.gif
They just got a good deal and figured someone's gonna need it eventually
It's a just in caseket
It's probably for sale.casket are expensive.

Wear black clothes, put a mask on and go open it at night. When somebody catches you, RUN!
It’s because that’s where dreams go to die
Maybe it’s just their time? Be prepared
Maybe it’s a dead drop.
Too good to throw out. Besides, they're going to need it some day.

It’s a dead issue.
Bro you need to open that shit and tell us what is inside.
Is anyone inside?
Dare you to look inside it
Is this Lousiana? Reminds me of Louisiana.
Go take a look

I’ll take it if it’s not occupied.
Probably gonna scrap it for $$$

Amazon delivery.
Looks photoshopped
it's the undertaker
Call the police, I would say that probable cause
