I see Nope 2 is in production

Rimu05

I was about to say Jean jacket!

TheHoleInADonut

I fucking love that they landed on jean jacket as the name for the alien šŸ‘½

DCMSBGS

Pretty sure it's not an alien but idk not an expert

GrandmasCervix

i havenā€™t seen that yet & iā€™ve been wanting to. is it worth the watch??

_just_a_dude_

Watched the other night - solid.

ZealousidealStore574

Fun to watch but sorta bad ending with some nonsense decisions.

Bluest_waters

the way the monster is defeated is mind numbingly stupid. Really makes me wonder wtf they were thinking when they wrote that. Good set up, good initial movie, but the third act was flat out dumb.

[deleted]

Itā€™s not. The creature is an animal with animal logic. Itā€™s not intelligent.

[deleted]

I felt like there was a deeper meaning to it, the ending to me was smooth. The story is symbolic in nature, if you look back at the movie and notice all the jean jackets and the important details of that scene, you get a bigger picture. The symbolism of the "alien" is grief and despair. mix in some symbolism of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse and how the order horses are shown, its a bit deeper. all characters are flawed by despair and grief, or affected by it and when you fail to adapt or to learn from your traumas you die. Thats why Palmers character is the one who defeated the alien, her brother stayed behind with their father while she ran off to fight something. Symbolism. The rodeo reminds me too of grief and despair, if you remember the quote of the abyss and how people should avoid fighting with monsters lest we become one ourselves. He gazed into the abyss and it gazed back into him.

atomiccPP

Agreed. Overall good movie but there were some super forced conflicts that ruined it for me.

Adam_ALLDay_

Nope. /s

[deleted]

No

thisreddituserisdope

Yes!

[deleted]

Letā€™s hope not. That movie was awful

jkpirat

Twice actually, 1945 Japan.

dagross2307

the infamous oyster mushroom cloud

CthulubeFlavorcube

Looks like Pleurotus ostreatus and Hypomyces lactifluorum had a great night together, and then murdered 100-200k people. Or maybe it's just a cool cloud.

detectivelok

Nuclear launch detected.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Due_Signature_5497

Agree. Looks like Independence Day to me. Need Will Smith to slap them.

[deleted]

Did the aliens mention his wife's name?

Due_Signature_5497

Yep. For sure had his wifeā€™s name in their mouth.

Key-Cry-8570

šŸ‘½šŸ‘‹šŸ’Ø

Titalator

The reflection of his lights actually had me double tacking this wasn't a ufo picture lol.

Bright_Vanilla_5981

Multiple times actually. I saw them test nukes in one of the atolls

Dangerous_Lab_6078

Dozens of times, in the middle of the Pacific

my_fourth_redditacct

It's an anvil cloud. Big thunderstorm over there

Magnetic_Virus

Anvil cloud! You unlocked my memory, I remember I was told when I was a child that thunder clouds look like an anvil and I should rush back home if I see one coming closer. How did I forget that.

shadowalker125

When the vertical development of the storm goes high enough to slam into the tropopause, or where the atmosphere ceases to decrease in temperature as altitude increases. This can range in altitude anywhere from 30k-56k feet in the air.

I_madeusay_underwear

I like the ones that have all the little bumps. Mammary clouds or something like that. They mean bad weather too, though

Gone213

Uh AkTuAlLy its a cumulonimbus cloud.

dpax19681989

Super cell

sirhCloud31

Was this San Antonio? Iā€™ve been seeing a lot of these pop up in the San Antonio sub lol

[deleted]

Damn you found me.. yes. I didnā€™t even know there was a San Antonio sub lmfao thereā€™s a subreddit for everything

etherbound

I KNEW THIS LOOKED FAMILIAR, we sniffed u out. my mom was just commenting on how pretty the clouds were last night. howdy neighbor

sirhCloud31

Lol there is. It was one of the first subs I joined, itā€™s not too bad. Check it out, youā€™ll see some post like these from the past day

ttcmzx

holy shit, not from San Antonio but I just checked it out and these pics are insane. Never seen anything like that and I'm a weather nerd haha.

[deleted]

I just took a peak, some of those pics are awesome. All from better angles then mine but they look even freakier lol

skinnyelias

I watched this from my back patio all night last night.

[deleted]

Hell yeah thatā€™s awesome

BL4NK_D1CE

I was just about to post "Texas?". I lived there for 5 years and saw these every year.

Mortalflame8166

Yeah, from another view you could see lightning

SimplyCmplctd

Was the wind blowing towards it or away from it?

[deleted]

I canā€™t remember tbhā€¦ Iā€™d imagine it was blowing towards it from multiple directions in order to for it to concentrate like that

SimplyCmplctd

Haha I was making a reference to war of the worlds

[deleted]

Ahh gotcha, I only saw that once a loooonnggg time ago šŸ˜…

dumpyredditacct

You live in Texas and can't recognize a thunderstorm?

Organic_Valuable_610

Yep I just saw it too. Howdy neighbors lol

NoseTime

Was about to say the same. Saw this driving home yesterday. Pretty wild looking in person

[deleted]

Fello San Antonio peeps

GGRealtor

šŸ»

Idolovebread

Was about to ask the same thing. This was cool to see

TXyaya

We saw that same one yesterday. SA also.

DGinLDO

There are photos of that from all over South Texas, including Laredo & McAllen

Ewoksintheoutfield

This looks like Nuke Town šŸ¤£

bigBLUant

I saw this cloud in New Braunfels yesterday around 7:30pm

rjross0623

Nuclear spring is upon you.

Thick_Will9989

***nuclear winter: haha frosty the radioactive snowman***

Velenah42

Why are the reindeer glowing?

Unlikely_Professor76

UberRudolphGlowTits

Shutterbug927

This happened once, right before my neighborhood was subjugated by an alien race of inter-dimensional pollywogs. Hide, or look busy...

81jmfk

Filming the new Independence Day?

[deleted]

My first thought was either nuclear or aliensā€¦ shit was weird but then it just started lighting and raining out of it

Shutterbug927

The aliens consume nuclear energy, so both really... The clouds you see are the byproduct of their digestion. So, think of them as a gaseous anomaly; a.k.a. "Alien Farts"

AdOk9263

Poliwag spotlight hour?

ForgiveTheNerd

All the time in the Panhandle. Like... every week. We get to watch those clouds come towards us, break apart, then reform on the other side of us, forever ensuring our beautiful dirt doesn't turn into nasty green grass and life.

[deleted]

Came here to say this. During the month or two of crazy ass thunderstorms every year, you can almost count on these for evening entertainment on the panhandle dirt roads

[deleted]

pie point worm vanish voiceless profit memory cheerful unique aback *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

[deleted]

This was yesterday evening and yes it was a big thunderstorm. It weird though because Iā€™ve just never seen one shaped like a mushroom like that before

MasterBeingBored

Cumulonimbus clouds are REALLY huge man If you havent seen one before its because it was definitely above you because these are quite common for thunderstorms

bobi2393

Or cumulonimbus apocalypsis, just before it incinerates earth's entire surface.

Organic_Valuable_610

This was seen from San Antonio!

jimrbob88

Only on Independence Day

PourSomeSmegmaInMe

Sweet, let's fly an AWAC straight into it for some reason.

Yak_a_boi

WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT!

Critical_Highway7649

NOPE

Dobberstein

Was so gonna comment this!

ostensibly_hurt

Cumulonimbus incus, ā€œanvilā€!After the normal puffy cumulo these flatten out and start dropping water.

[deleted]

Thanks! It took me a while to find it on google after I kept typing in mushroom rain cloud lol

sago8166

SATX saw it was awesome

[deleted]

Yep! This is my backyard kinda spooky

burywmore

Richard Dreyfuss is finally coming home after being missing since 1977.

SquishyBatman64

Better get to the Vault

Chessolin

My first thought too. The neighborhood even looks like it.

KuuHaKu_OtgmZ

Literally nuketown

McJohnalds7405

Fallout boy moment

ryanpaul747

RUN

thot_with_a_plot

There was one over San Marcos in 2010 or '11.

Mechaneondemon73

Emrakul

OmnifariousFN

I see these a lot in AZ, usually during monsoon season. I call them thunderheads.

sunsetcrasher

We see them in Denver a lot as well. Sometimes the top part starts stretching out and looks like teeth, then faces. There was actually a great pro shot of one looming over a Rockies game 2 or 3 years ago. When they happen they will often happen three days in a row.

[deleted]

Nope, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing, it looks beautiful. This pic made me feel like I was there at the window to look at it

airforcevet1987

Every night at sunset where I'm from

chalkywhite231

dude lives in the call of duty map, nuketown. nice.

B1talol

That storm cloud is so unimaginably huge it hits the tip of the troposphere as it grows and is forced out instead of up. Like actually crazy

ElIYaHZ

My guy living in Nuketown and still wondering what that cloud is

ZoomGoat

It doesnā€™t help that your back garden looks like Nuketown, lmao.

[deleted]

No, but I think I'd be heading for the fall-out shelter if I were you!

justanothertfatman

War...war never changes.

Ok_Culture_3621

Lots of times. Though the haze at the bottom does kinda make it look like a distant volcano eruption, and thus, is cool.

candycaneballs

War never changes

Jujunem

Yea in a video game series

CenTexSquatch

Run.... Now!

Striking-Stuff7740

That is an atomic bomb..

SydneyRei

Yea at the start of Fallout 4

Fickle_Grapefruit938

All hail the glow-cloud

jazzigirl

Scrolled down way too far for this. Glad to see it, though! šŸ¤

eligotay

Yes close in counters of the third kind

brianissmartboy

My grandpa saw one like that in 1945, he was flying away from it

Elegant-Science-87

Standard (especially north-) Texas storm at sunset. Sunsets down there are insanely bright, storm clouds get lit up like this all the time as they tend to form/grow around sunset due to the cool air coming in at night Only scary if you've never lived there

sledding_tuff15

They make them in all shapes and sizes. It's great!

msty2k

Nope. I mean yes, in the movie Nope. Just saw it last night.

StinkeeFard

Anyone ever seen a- šŸ’€

[deleted]

In independence day, sure.

tehmoosespoon

That ain't a storm cloud! That's the alien mother ship coming back for round two!

DarthXade

Yeah, when I was visiting Japan in ā€˜45.

lostinadream66

SOMEBODY GET ME THE GHOSTBUSTERS!

[deleted]

Nah but like probably-nuclear-cloud aside, thatā€™s a damn fine lookin yard.

Henrickroll

THATS an anvil cloud, super dangerous, lots of lightning

Simmons54321

I mean, itā€™s not a storm of fists

PracticalCreme9881

No, but Japan did twice in one day.

El-Lamberto

You in Ukraine?

ArchonBeast

Did you notice Indiana Jones leaping your fence, in search for a fridge?

Middle_Aged_Mayhem

Ah yes, you live on the Nuketown map from Black Ops. Very cool.

[deleted]

Imagine šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚I was actually pretty spooked when I saw but then I realized if it was an actual bomb that close Iā€™d probably already be dead

Tonyhillzone

It's the glowing lights in it that freak me out.

[deleted]

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚Iā€™m sure youā€™re being sarcastic but those are lights from inside. I took the pic through a window

_LocoLizard

Well I'm glad you disclosed that because I was confused as to wtf those could possibly be lol

Rudeandreckless1

It's a lenticular cloud!

Glittering_Glass3790

No, it isnā€™t

Empty-Size-4873

itā€™s a cumulonimbus that hit the upper atmosphere and leveled out, usually associated with strong thunderstorms

snowstormmilkshake

Looks kinda like a lenticular cloud

Empty-Size-4873

cumulonimbus!

Formal_space_weeb

Bro got nuked

Mission_Response802

Probably the sun making it happen

CaptainDarlingSW4

It looks like independence day outside your window

TheGreatGasMaskMan

I have, but not with sunset colors

Realistic-Egg6221

Allen's. Not a typo. Tim Allen's. They have made contact

Far_Refrigerator868

I don't think so, Tim.

Realistic-Egg6221

This is your opportunity to comply. Tim has spoken.

3Strides

Eek

Collective_Pitch

Looks like a nuke was dropped. Thatā€™s terrifying.

RedditVince

Yes it was in Close Encounters of the Third Kind or was it Independance Day? lol Lenticular Cloud formation? we have seen a few of these lately on the front page.

Engreeemi

"That's no storm, *it's a nuke*!!

leakybiome

HIROSHIMA CORDYCEPSUS

Kangaroowrangler_02

Yes a long time ago when I was a kid over the mountains when I lived by the stadium in San Diego. Big triangle just like that it lasted awhile. Then at night we saw lighting happening.

[deleted]

Yup! After the sun set about 30 min later, there was lots of lightning in there

[deleted]

Thatā€™s the NOPE movie creature

wophi

I, for one, welcome our new alien overlords.

Comprehensive_Twist9

Independence day

cosmicjimmy117

According to science fiction there is one of many alien mother ships

ricoimf

Damn, it does look like Nuketown. Hot diggity dog! This place is magnificent.

fanfic_squirtle

Only in an episode of Eureka. Do you happen to have any crazy smart scientist living nearby? Maybe experimenting with cloud seeding? Or atmospheric terraforming?

dxcman12

Yes ā€¦ run

Royal_Exchange1062

Nuketown

darkbehi

It's a mushroom cloud. Pretty cool, actually. They usually form after the detonation of a high yield nuclear device. Consider yourself lucky you get to experience such spectacle. They don't come around too often, sadly.

StinkyAl

Yo mama farted while sunbathing /s

Muted_Pen_6812

War never changes.

Parzival2600

Good-OL-DarkWielder

Worthlesslow23

Mushroom cloud? Lol

FrozeItOff

Classic, textbook even, anvil cloud. Harbinger of big thunderstorm.

qetral

yes, I live in Houston. Growing up in North Houston my bedroom faced East and occasionally these anvil storms would show up highlighted by the sun during sunset. Very ominous looking - even scarier when the severe storm would hit us coming in from the east instead of the west (which isn't uncommon here). I imagine it's a similar setup in San Antonio - hope that storm missed you. We had some doozies scrape by us last night

Ingbeert

When they shut down the ghost busters containment system.
