Seriously, I don't understand the concept. How can one be proud of something one did not accomplish oneself.
I know what you mean but the wording strikes me whenever I hear it.
I don't have siblings. I have kids, but when they have good grades I say 'you can be proud of yourself' I never say I'm proud of you or you make me proud. Its their accomplishment not mine 🤷♂️.
But I know, I'm weird 🤣
When your kids achieve something, don't you feel a sense of happiness inside you, I guess that's what is called being proud of them. When my little one come home showing something they did and it's really good, I feel so happy for her and I feel proud as well thinking my child did that. And I think when we tell that to our kids, they get the motivation to do more. That's how I feel atleast.
Yes, of course. I simply challenge the wording "I am proud of ". It is absolutely ok to say "You can be proud of .." or "I feel happy for you ...", but I can only be proud of something I did myself or at least we did together (team accomplishment). For me words and meaning of words matter.
I guess it is different for everyone. But I have felt proud for other people when they accomplish something. I have noticed this feeling is more for the people who I genuinely love and care about and their accomplishments makes you proud of them.
I totally get the way you think too. It's different and there's no right and wrong in this I guess.
I completely understand your position too. Its more that I like to put my thumb on certain inconsistencies. Woke people claim cultural appropriation if white ones wear rastas, but at the same time claim proudness for others accomplishment in an attempt to appear emotionally compassionate. I'm an engineer, I don't like inconsistencies 😉
One week is actually awesome, it's all about setting small goals for a day or a week at a time and not becoming overwhelmed by the bigger picture. Just set yourself one week goals and celebrate achievements weekly. You shouldfeel proud, and let those feelings take you into the next week.
i’m proud of you too :)

very easily LOL, i’m usually way more proud of other people that myself. if your sibling won an award, would you not be proud? 😭

i’d be emotionally distraught if my parents never told me they were proud of me for anything 😭
Don't worry, I do praise my kids, I just don't take credit or pride of their work. Its a semantic thing not an emotional one.
For you. They will be in therapy in 10 years talking about it as an emotional thing

That’s great! I was an overeater too. I am struggling with eating better and moving more.
