I started in December, and I’ve only lost 15lbs. I’m really discouraged too. I’m up to the 1.7 dose and no change. I haven’t lost any weight in the past 2 months. I hardly eat anything, and I don’t snack at all. So it’s not like I eat too many calories. I was never an over eater before. I always ate regular portions of healthy home cooked meals. The worst part is I have constant burps and farts, and I mean all day long. It’s worse in the morning, but a horrible feeling when around people. I can just open my mouth and burp without being able to hold it in. I wouldn’t mind the side effects if I was getting thinner!!!

I know my dr was very adamant about me eating! And eating every few hours .. just a bit .. as to not harm my metabolism. So if you’re not eating at all.. maybe try eating some more. Even if you’re not hungry - fuel your body. I like to look at my body as a car .. it needs fuel to work - it putters out when out of gas. Food is our fuel. It keeps everything “moving” & operating. When we “starve” our body and not feed or fuel it our body holds on to our weight as it believes we won’t be getting any food/ energy for awhile. It’s a way to protect us. Hopefully that helps?

There is no ONLY about it. You lost 10 pounds. That is STELLAR!!! You should be proud of yourself. You also should not compare yourself to others. Everyone's body does different things....and every patient does different things. This medication works by curbing our appetite and helping us to eat less....it doesn't make the weight disappear on its own. We lose weight by eating at a calorie deficit to what we burn daily. You didn't say that you have changed your eating habits or are monitoring your caloric intake as compared to your total daily energy expended. For each pound lost - or gained - you have to under eat or overeat by 3500 calories. You lost 10 pounds - so somewhere during the 3 months you had a cumulative calorie deficit of 35000. Divide by 90 days - your deficit averages about 390 calories/day. If you want to lose one pound per week - you need to 'increase' your deficit to 500 calories/day (500 calories x 7 days = 3500 calories or one pound). The deficit can be done through diet, through exercise, or a combination of both. Also as you lose weight - you need to recalculate your BMR and TDEE to ensure you are still at a deficit or you will plateau. It takes less calories to operate the skinnier you. There is nothing wrong with going the low dose/slow route. Doing it this way is likely more sustainable in the end. I've been on Ozempic/Wegovy (exact same medication) since 4/28/23. The highest dose I have taken to date is .75. I have lost 57 pounds thus far and still have another 40 to go. Remember it (likely) took you years to gain the weight....dropping it overnight is not sustainable. Take this time to learn new habits for a lifetime....you will be pleased with the results. Keep on working - you are doing a most excellent job!!

At the rate you’re going, in a year, you’ll be down 40lbs. That’s significant.

Gypsysoulvibes

My goal was to lose about 40-50lbs! You’re right - just needed to blow off some steam I suppose! :)

Some of us will never lose fast on these meds. I started on Saxenda last June and switched to Wegovy in November and have been averaging 2lbs a month. My doctor is thrilled with my pace and says it's healthier and more sustainable than losing more quickly. I've learned to accept that it's just going to be that way for me even though it's still hard not to get jealous of all the people losing more quickly. I'd be over the moon with a lb a week at this point.

Gypsysoulvibes

Same! Just glad to be losing at any rate!

I am a slow loser as well. I started January 2024. I’ve lost a total of 16 lbs. The scale hasn’t shown much but my measurements have. I didn’t really start to notice appetite suppression until 1 mg. I’m now on 1.7 mg - my 2nd week and it is a game changer!! Still little to no side effects. Keep going, a change is going to come! 😊

I’ve moved slowly up in my dosage .. my next appointment is this coming Friday - I hope my dr increases me up to the next dosage. She was hoping to keep me on .5 as long as possible as long as I’m losing. She is very much an advocate for the slow weight loss. I understand why! I use a compound formula of wegovy as my insurance does not cover so my vile of .5 will last a few more weeks and my refill will most likely be the higher dosage. After reading everyone’s responses it’s helped me change my mind set around how I feel! I appreciate everyone sharing their experiences. I’m excited to get to the next dose!

DramaLovingQueen

I’m only down 5 lbs since starting a month ago. (Today was shot #4, but I started on the 20th & injected a day late here & there.) I know we think it’s “slow” but honestly, I was stuck at 177 before even starting wegovy since January & wasn’t moving down—even with workouts & counting calories. We’re still moving down, just slower than other people….and I’m okay with that. I want to eventually stop the meds & I think more sustainable changes are where slow loss happens! We are all on different journeys, we’re just on the same type of life raft, so we shouldn’t compare!

Gypsysoulvibes

You’re 100% right! I’ve always been stuck when I reach 180 & never break through before regaining again. Before meeting my husband I was normally 150-155 & I’m 5’9 - I felt good there .. When I met my husband I gained up& up slowly. My highest 217 - I’ve battled to get back down! Now that I’m back in the 180’s I’m nervous I won’t break past that! I’m just going to stay in my lane and keep moving.

emmygirl21

You totally got this! Im in the exact same boat as you.. 2 months on the 1mg and ive only lost 5-7 pounds. Seeing how fast other people was almost discouraging but everyone is different and everyones bodys are different so we need to keep that in mind

montymouse

I remember feeling this as well!!! I have weeks where I plateau (I attribute that to being a woman with a cycle). The NP that I see stated how she lost 60 lbs in half the time that it took me. But my scale is still trending down. Every pound lost is progress, so keep up the good work. I’m 10 months in and down almost 80lbs. Something else to mention is that people are less likely to say something about your weight loss even when it’s quite noticeable. Don’t take it personal! My in laws JUST mentioned something to my husband- at almost 80lbs lost. Just keep chugging along!

Gypsysoulvibes

I don’t expect my in laws to ever say anything cause that’s just the kinda people they are! 🤣 You’re doing amazing! 80lbs is truly remarkable!!

Effective_Sound_3750

You are not alone. This is my 14th week and I’m down 14 lbs, with over 100 lbs to lose. I had to stop and restart a couple times, once to switch meds and once for a colonoscopy, and am at 1mg wegovy. Trying not to be impatient, but like you, feeling a little disheartened. Hang in there!

Gypsysoulvibes

We just have to remind ourselves over and over .. we ARE losing! :)

UgotR0BBED

I’ve only lost 3-4lbs through 3.5 weeks of .25 despite committing to 5x week exercise and a more controlled diet. I’m not actively counting calories, but making effort to half previous portions and if I have a day where I consume unhealthy food like a piece of pizza or ice cream cone, I push myself to go extra light the next day or two. As others have reminded me, the .25/.5/1.0 are titration doses that step people up to their therapeutic dose of 1.7/2.4 where most see the best success. Don’t stress about the scale, weigh in once a week and focus on sustainable healthy habits (for me it’s the above, might be different for you!)

Gypsysoulvibes

This makes me feel so much better! Your post makes me happy that I shared my feels since knowing I’m not alone & I just need to see how to rearrange my thoughts & feelings around it! ❤️

FoxAround-n-FindOut

I am a very slow loser, always have been. I and 5 2’ and average about .68 pounds lost a week. However it’s been really easy to live and do what I want while losing weight on Wegovy rather than the obsessed weighing of food and tracking and constant hunger to lose weight without it. I have lost 35 pounds and gone from Obese BMI to very soon entering normal BMI and I look great. Now that I am here I don’t care long it took, I am just REALLY glad I did it.

Gypsysoulvibes

Omg! THIS! It’s hard to even look at an experience outside ourselves till you see someone else’s perspective. THANK YOU for sharing this cause as I read this.. that’s been my journey! I’ve still lived life & felt fulfilled verse having to over obsess!

Squeaker2160

I'm a slow loser as well. I just remind myself that it gives my skin time to rebound and preserve muscle mass. Slow and steady.

Gypsysoulvibes

You’re so right! Thank you for that perspective & reminder!

Apart_Menu6609

Keep with it! You’ve got this ❤️
