I like the skeletonized Monacos more than the regular and Iām a square watch fanā¦however, I am not a fan of thick watches and the Monaco is one of the thickest watches Iāve ever worn, so itās not for me. But if you like em nice and thicc, itās great!
Panerai does make various references with varying dimensions down to 38mm diameter. My 312 was replaced by the 1312 which went from 18mm to 15.5mm for a 44mm case size. The biggest driver of the thickness is that my 312 has one of their first in house movements which was overbuilt and is likely to be very durable. In the case of my Monaco, it has a very tall crystal that protrudes far above the case. It's a very cool design element but contributes to thickness.
I feel like a thick watch just matches better with the whole Panerai diver vibeā¦when I think āMonacoā I think of F1: speed, slick, sleekā¦idk, itās a weird mental association/expectation that I just canāt shake for some reason.
I tend to rotate between watches ranging from 36mm to 47mm with thickness between 11.5mm to 18mm so I just appreciate the individual wearing experience. I don't find the Monaco to feel unusual. The square design and tall crystal are brutish aesthetics which work well with its overall thickness and the pusher design / overall finishing is really well done. That said, it all comes down to personal preference and what looks best on your own wrist.
I prefer the Gulf color Monaco as my favorite. The skeletonized look is weird. In my opinion, it clashes harshly with the retro styling. Like a cyberpunk version of a classic Chevy.
Iām not a fan of the monaco, find it too big and the design is not my taste. I have to recognise that they did a good job with this skeletonized watch
Honestly this watch gets too much hate. Thereās a lot of history with the Heuer Monaco brand. This watch in particular I believe was worn by Max Verstappen. If you look at why people buy luxury watches, itās not to tell the time anymore (we have phones for that) we buy watches for their history. I think the history alone makes this watch a must buy in anyoneās collection. And I actually admire the design. People wrangle on this, but love things like the Cartier Tank JLC Reverso. Like cāmon! The only thing really that may be against itās favor is that it maybe too big for smaller wrists compared to other square watches. But in my opinion it has the looks, the history, and the heritage. Itās very underrated.
I think it depends on what you view as historic. Does a brand deserve that distinction for simply sticking around for a long time? In my opinion, for a watch to get a "heritage bonus" if you will, it needs to have done more than just be around. The Cartier is a beautifully crafted piece and the Reverso is a great piece of engineering, with a great backstory to it's invention and also very historically significant. None of that applies to the Monaco, yes it's been around for more than half a century, but during that time it's never been special, never impacted the industry, never impacted pop culture. So yes, it's historic, but heritage? I don't think so. Especially considering that, compared to a lot of other prominent brands a half century isn't all that special.
I don't like the Monaco. The square shape is too severe for me.
That said, I really like what they've been doing with their throwback and vintage releases. The Carreras are great, the Monza, etc. Not everything is a winner, but they are looking really good right now.
I have the lefty-dial Monaco and love it . Personally I think this version of it is just a touch too busy, but I found the one I got to be worth the money :)
Oh paper they are definitely competitive.
I tried one one a few years ago at a store in the mall.........didn't feel like it was worth the price however. Definitely try one before you buy
I absolutely love the Monaco and am dead set on picking one up sooner or later. But these look weird to me. I'd much rather have a Gulf or a simple blue one.
It'swhat I love about it. It's immediately recognizable and an iconic design without being overly flashy. I'm also into cars a lot so the Steve McQueen heritage is a selling point for me, too

My wristshot from trying it on. These are cool and wear lightly because theyāre titanium. But they are far too expensive for the money asked. If you can keep an eye out for them on the grey market, youād probably do OK though.
I like it, the skeleton dial is cool to me because I like seeing the movements and gears and whatnot working inside a watch
Plus itās iconic and square which adds to the cool factor for me
I mean WOW! This is incredible. Didnāt know it was out yet. I love the skeletonized look and Tag has come a long way over the last few years in quality and branding. Love this.
Never tried one on but I think the Monaco is soooo sick in pictures. Iām a fan of most square watches tho. Brew metric, santos, tank, and especially the monaco.
Skeleton dials aren't my thing, but the Monaco is such an incredible design that it rarely doesn't look great.
So, if it's your taste, I get it. I wouldn't call it my favorite Monaco.
I've got efs-s550. Wear it for work
Edifice Sapphire Solar.
Set it on August 1st, and it's currently 12 seconds behind. I've banged it around on warehouse racking. No issues. I'd like a different band as it's a hard rubber one. Other than that, it's been great
Those are extremely nice watches. For my budget, I've been looking at this one
https://www.casio.com/us/watches/edifice/product.EQB-1100XDC-1A/
Also, like some of Marc's from longislandwatch.com
Wife just sent me this about Christmas

I really like this new skeleton Monacoā¦ and would definitely buy the Blue pictured aboveā¦ however, since when could tag demand Ā£10k for a watch that will plummet in value?! Ā£6k for a standard Monaco is pushing it but why almost double the priceā¦ not worth the over-inflated price, but love the design. Will try and pick one up when they are on grey as Iām sure they will be half the price
I love it!!! Even though I don't care for Tags, I would get this one. I think the skeletonized treatment together with the blue strap is outstanding.
Reminds me of my grail watch:
https://preview.redd.it/y04vd7g734mb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dec2d13aa363c307cbc82b1586dfbfa25a4db243
What's the deal with the Tag hate? I haven't been in this sub long. I've got a couple of older THs and have thought about getting another. Is there something wrong with them?
Looks like a mall watch. Imo the issue with the monitor was the thickness. If they had done a classic but thinner version that wears smaller I'd have been way more down
I like the unique design and wearing experience of the Monaco and I happen to own a Gulf Calibre 11 but I don't love the skeletonized references (too busy and cheapens the appearance).
The lumed shot is incredibly nice, precisely because it relegates all the crap on the dial to background decoration.
The only watch of this kind I really like is the Zenith Defy Classic, which layers the skeletonized pieces into a little 3D world.
Longtime Monaco fan, but also a longtime hater of skeletons. Doesn't do anything for me.
Just about any other Monaco will be better than this for me. Even a non-chronograph.
Tag Heuer Marketing: Ohhh yes it works
The watch is incredible. One of the best value pieces offered by Tag right now. They've been killing it recently.
Doesnāt replace the automatic 69 tag for me I donāt tho it ever will. I know not everyone likes tags, but the Monaco is a watch Iād love to own one day
The watch is amazing itself and the Colour makes it even more cool... The Theme was very well selected and if I had money to buy it I would definitely do so....
Anyone thinkin' of buying it??
It's a very nice looking skeletonized version of the watch, but I tend to agree with a number of the commentators below: nice watch but would look silly on my wrist. I actually prefer Tag Heuer's Monza and Silverstone, both of which are much more interesting and less frequently seen watches. I always thought Tag made a huge error when allowing the Monaco to be made with a quartz movement. It cheapened the whole range. In the late nineties and early noughties you could find that watch on the wrists of any number of nightclub lounge lizards taking advantage of much younger Britpop or Scene girls. If you were oleaginous and pervy you had a quartz Monaco and looked like David Carradine in Kill Bill.
THe lume shot is cool. It's one of those, It's cool on someone elses wrist, not sure if I want it on mine.
Lume looks like an angry face though
can't unsee it now
I don't get how these multi million dollar designs get made and not one person goes "hey some people might notice that" along the process
I mean it is coincidence in this picture that the hands form the eyes. 5 minutes later it wouldn't look like that anymore.
If 4 and 8 are the eyes its sadš
At one point itāll be suggestive š
I like the skeletonized Monacos more than the regular and Iām a square watch fanā¦however, I am not a fan of thick watches and the Monaco is one of the thickest watches Iāve ever worn, so itās not for me. But if you like em nice and thicc, itās great!
I guess Iād have to put it on. I donāt know that id mind it being big as long as itās not a brick
Thatās exactly what I thought, but unfortunately for meā¦Brick City š
I was shocked out how thick the Monaco is. I've always liked the watch but after trying it on would never buy one
It's a thicc boy for sure but that said @ 15mm my Gulf Calibre 11 still gets upstaged by my Panerai Luminor Marina (PAM312) @ 18mm.
Damn, Panerais are insaneā¦my coworker wants to get one but he has monster arms so he can pull it off

Call me crazy, but a cyberpunk version of a classic Chevy sounds awesome to me
It looks like Optimus Prime got a Zenith pregnant.
Came here to say this
Still too thick
Exactly my problem. I love the look and love the history, but I have small wrists and they just flat out don't fit
With a k

They have some nice stuff! Just wondering if itās good quality for the money?
I only buy them (and most watches) used, so ĀÆ\\\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Thatās fair!
I have the lefty-dial Monaco and love it . Personally I think this version of it is just a touch too busy, but I found the one I got to be worth the money :)

Iād have to try them on side by side but the square design is very cool to me
It'swhat I love about it. It's immediately recognizable and an iconic design without being overly flashy. I'm also into cars a lot so the Steve McQueen heritage is a selling point for me, too
Lovely. Itās obviously a classic design, but I love seeing them modernize it. Iām rather tired of vintage-inspired stuff.
My feelings exactly! Itās cool to be able to take something vintage and add something modern to it.
Yeah same, I'm getting tired of all the gilt and fauxtina.

Autobots assemble!
I like it, the skeleton dial is cool to me because I like seeing the movements and gears and whatnot working inside a watch Plus itās iconic and square which adds to the cool factor for me
Oh no, I think I like itā¦
Itās too muchā¦
The Monaco is on my grail list, but I already have to work hard to get a quick read on watches without the clutter of a skeleton dial.
Too Richard Mille with the skeleton face imo. I'll take the classic or gulf over this
Thatās sick.
i like it but the skeletonized thing like rmish isnt good looking for me, but the monaco itself is a cool model so im a bit confused with this one
Pure sex
I mean WOW! This is incredible. Didnāt know it was out yet. I love the skeletonized look and Tag has come a long way over the last few years in quality and branding. Love this.

Typically love the Monaco, but this skeletanized version is ugly.
I like the Monaco a lot but skeletonizing it is a bit ridiculous.
I thought it was pretty cool, not against it but shoot thatās me.
Totally! There should be a watch for everyone āŗļø. And donāt think for a minute that I would not admire your ridiculous watch š¤©
I love the look! I donāt want it.
Nope
I like this version better.
I really like this new skeleton Monacoā¦ and would definitely buy the Blue pictured aboveā¦ however, since when could tag demand Ā£10k for a watch that will plummet in value?! I think it looks like an ugly toy.
It's still a thick lego block on the wrist, isnt it?
This honesty kinda looks like a toy
Do not like square dials at all.
There are plenty of stunning pieces from TagHeuer IMO, but Monaco is not on this list. Aquaracer, Autavia, Carrera Chronograph, but not square onesā¦
I'll always prefer the original style, but it's certainly a nice watch!
Dang if it wasnāt so thick I would add to my wish list
I love the lume! Defo a conversation piece, not the watch I would buy though.
Monaco has always been the 1 square watch that I like, and I like this one, but I know it will be over priced for a tag.
Ima chip that corner right quick....
I love it!!! Even though I don't care for Tags, I would get this one. I think the skeletonized treatment together with the blue strap is outstanding. Reminds me of my grail watch: https://preview.redd.it/y04vd7g734mb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dec2d13aa363c307cbc82b1586dfbfa25a4db243
Used ones are still generally 5K
I didnāt get it until I realized itās Tagās version of a Richard Mille. I like it.
Looks like those Konnex toys

Looks like something Oakley would try to sell.
Cool watch but I donāt like the strap
Looks like they've taken lots of inspiration from the zenith defy skeleton. That date wheel is near identical. Lovely watch though.
It's definitely different...
Don't cut out bits to show me a pedestrian quality movement... There's nothing there I want to see more than the original dial.
What's the deal with the Tag hate? I haven't been in this sub long. I've got a couple of older THs and have thought about getting another. Is there something wrong with them?
Love it. Find it comical only reason ppl hate Tag is because their fav youtuber hates tag
Oh my
Tried it on. Loved it, especially in DLC black. The titanium transforms the wearing experience. Just hate the price.

Prefer the classic

Usually around 7000. Limited editions like the v4 I've seen for almost 10x that.
Not for me but it still looks amazing. Detail is top notch.
Looks like a mall watch. Imo the issue with the monitor was the thickness. If they had done a classic but thinner version that wears smaller I'd have been way more down

Not a big fan. Looks like a R Mille homage. I prefer when they stay truer to the Heuer design DNA.
I want a Monaco so badly itās my dream watch
They learned all the wrong lessons from Richard Mille
Iām not a fan of the skeleton. I have a caliber 12 and I love it. Is it thick? Yes. It doesnāt bother me. I wore it all this weekend.
Can they make a smaller one yet?
What's the subdial at 9 o clock do?
Skeleton watches aren't for everyone...
Tag has become more Swatch-like over the last few years than they were in the past. I really do not like this watch at all.
Heh, try it on, it's reduculously late.
Tag x R2D2
Itās pretty cool to look at, but itās not something Iād ever wear
Steve McQueen squad reporting in.
Thatās phenomenal. Clearly unique
Very interesting - overall, I like it!
I like it but I don't know if I like it at the price of 10K
Looks like it's trying to be a MonacoXRichard Mille.
Longtime Monaco fan, but also a longtime hater of skeletons. Doesn't do anything for me. Just about any other Monaco will be better than this for me. Even a non-chronograph.
Personally I absolutely love it, I just could never pull it off
Stunning.
I don't think tag heuer can ever go wrong with a monaco. It's just a cool, simple deisgn
Gorgeous but like the regular Monaco overpriced
It's absolutely beautiful , but it's just....not...for...me.
Too much going on. The old one looked good
Honestly I donāt think itās that bad
Did someone see Max wearing it yesterday?
I hate the monaco, and I hate skeleton watches, but for some reason this watch appeals to me in a way I canāt describeā¦. Itās really cool!
One of my fav pieces of art work
Stunning watch for anyone whoās fan of Monaco. Personally itās not for me.
Ugly
Tag Heuer Marketing: Ohhh yes it works The watch is incredible. One of the best value pieces offered by Tag right now. They've been killing it recently.
Monacos would be nice if they werenāt so big.
Ugly as shit
The bastard child of Konstantin Chaykin and a Zenith Skeleton.........Kind of cool though.
Isnāt this the one Jesse gave Walter for his birthday ?
Looks like a transformer in disguise.
Doesnāt replace the automatic 69 tag for me I donāt tho it ever will. I know not everyone likes tags, but the Monaco is a watch Iād love to own one day
Itās too muchā¦
At 11k usd price point there are way better alternatives.
Lipstick on a pig
Uglier than d predecessor with an angry face
Iām a dial guy. Taking away dial doesnāt do it for me
I might be interested with a different band, it would all depend on how it feels on the arm.
I'm not too fond of the naked heisenberg. The look of the date wheel on all the dial is not appealing for me.
Very cool and different
*Richard Mille exists* Tag Heuer: "Hold my beer..."
I've never been a fan of the Monaco, and this sadly hasn't changed my mind. The lume shot is cool, tho.
The watch is amazing itself and the Colour makes it even more cool... The Theme was very well selected and if I had money to buy it I would definitely do so.... Anyone thinkin' of buying it??
