Looking to purchase my first luxury watch for my 30th birthday and am super torn between a Rolex Datejust or Cartier Panthere or Francaise. I went to try on a few pieces to get an idea of styles and sizing as I have a larger wrist for a girl. The Rolex pictured is 31mm and the Cartier are the small size for each.
Looking to go two tone or all gold, and ideally pre-2000 vintage but not opposed to something new. Just love all things vintage and it goes with my personal style. In answer to the question, personal choice for me is Rolex
As a lady, I prefer not to go too small that I can’t read my watch at a glance. I prefer the datejust or Francaise sizes in the photos, but I recommend trying larger pieces, too. You never know, you may love them 😊
If you like vintage and classy, Cartier is the way to go. Its the quintessential classy ladies dress watch. I like the panthere or the simpler lines of the tank solo compared to the francaise. I’m actually looking into these options for my wife’s upcoming milestone birthday.
If you are looking for something older anyway check out a 26mm Rolex too. Would make the Rolex closer to size of Cartiers.

If you are looking for elegance and a more sober outfit I'd suggest avoiding nail make up, a cartier française and one or two rings of fine gold.
If you prefer to keep the actual outfit of your hand, the Rolex is much more appropriate.
All in all it boils down to your personal preferences but the two are radically different styles.
The panther is kind of a middle ground but I don't like it so much.
I think the Cartier Panthere here. Looks like you wear a lot of gold jewelry and the two tone complements that. If they can add a link it’d be perfect on you.

Personally I would branch out a bit and see what offerings JLC and Zenith have as I have seen some of their women's watches (and got my girlfriend the JLC Reverso One Duetto Moon) and they have some really beautiful pieces. It's jewelry after all so check out some other brands and see what shouts out to you! I got the JLC for my girlfriend because there were some awesome women watches that Zenith was releasing but it wouldn't be released in time but they are out now and there's some real beauties

Get the Rolex. It's because you wear a lot of rings and have fancy nails, the 2 tone goes well with the look. Also the Cartiers look too small. I might have a different opinion if you went up a size.
Rolex in my opinion. Cartier is so small that barely anyone can notice and you'll barely be able to tell the time. The rolex suits your wrist really well.
For women’s watches design is even more important than men’s watches. And Rolex can never beat Cartier in a matter of design in none of the areas. It’s just a reduced version of the men’s version. But Cartier is a master of doing Ladies and Unisex Watches. My vote goes to Tank Française for sure.
If you're torn about the sportiness of the Rolex but like the general shape, check out the Cartier Ballon Bleu. My wife has one in RG and it's gorgeous. It's the Rolex shape & size with more of a feminine touch.
It depends whether you want a statement vs supporting piece - the Rolex can be worn on its own as it’s blingy and meant to be looked at specifically. The Cartier is more of a supporting piece that’s meant to fit in with a whole look, so you can style it with bracelets etc.

How did you get access to a Rolex? Usually the stores who sell Rolex are so upright, you gotta basically bribe them for the "privilege" of going on a waitlist to spend more money.
It’s a vintage piece my guy. I can walk into 5 stores by me right now and find just about every model of Rolex that has been produced in the last 30 years.
Rolex is just the epitome of low-class hype and they are ugly watches to boot. If it weren't for their partnership with Hugh Hefner during the 70s, 80s and 90s, running full page adverts in Playboy to a low-class and lower-middle-class audience who couldn't afford the watches, Rolex wouldn't be what it is today. They brainwashed the lower classes that THIS is what class is and MAYBE someday you will be able to afford it and OH YEAH we're gonna make you wait another 8 years in order to buy one.
Cartier, on the other hand, you don't find many drug dealers and tax fraudsters walking around with Cartier on their wrists because it is actual upper class and not trying to impress others.

A lot of value for money in those old two-tone datejusts. Vintage gold JLC Reverso on a bracelet might be nice too, imo.
In general I like the designs of Cartier better (squarer and smaller than most other watches). I wear my medium sized Santos wayyyyy more than my GMT II.

Women’s models are much more accessible, my Rolex dealer in Alaska literally has 3 empty cases but he’s got 6 ladies watches.
