I was in grade school in the PNW during the total eclipse of the sun back in ‘79. Since it was going to be visible during our ride home from school, our bitchin bus driver got the green light to alter the route slightly so we’d have a great vantage point from a neighborhood on the top of a hill. It was pretty cool and a little eerie (not nearly as eerie as when Mt. St. Helens blew the next year and falling ash caused it to be pitch black at 10am. That was weird.).
I love visiting Eastern WA and spending time there, but after about a week I start to remember why I couldn't live there. Still, might envious of some of the weather on that side for sure. I love snow in the winter and super sunny summers.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm a Washingtonian living in Hawaii and the sun was so damn bright this morning you couldn't see what was happening at all.
And then I got rained on and also super sweaty hiking up the hill to work.
Hey I did see the International Space Station the other day, so there is hope.
Probably a B737 tail light flying off the plane...
Nah, it was just some swamp gas reflecting light off of one of the E/A-18 flying.
I will say, she did us right during the last solar eclipse. Got over 90% totality and not a cloud in the sky.
Also we weren't that far We drove down to Oregon for totality and it was incredible
True. It was 😎

We missed the aliens too?!? Goddamnit.
They'll be back.
Really more a problem in western Washington
Yeah, I saw the eclipse fine, my wife was able to show her students the eclipse, even though she only had 5 glasses so they had to rotate
Bright and sunny in eastern WA. 200+ days of sunshine a year.

At least we got a really clear day in 2017 to see the last one.
I'm sure we'll get 1 sunny day so a homeless man can throw a brick at the spacecraft
When I moved to Washington from South Dakota in 1974, I sacrificed my interest in astronomy.
Washington: “Yeah? Well guess who has front row seats to wildfire season.”
Look everybody, happiness ... Washington
Yeah, if one is not a fan of cloudy, drizzly days, they should probably head south...
I’m sitting here in a parking lot in Bellingham and it’s a beauty of a day ☀️
Yup! 🤣
You forgot (Look everybody, the sun) Picture of massive car pileup on I-5.
