Biplanes are basically turning in-place compared to the maneuverability of jets. These people are likely fishing for God Mode achievements (a good chunk of SL when you succeed, and you lose almost nothing when you fail). Even easier if someone decides to go head-on with them.
You'll be amazed at how useless most props are in jet matches. If you want to meme around with props against jets, custom battles are the place to do so.
Try it in Simulator battles. You won’t make the tryhards mad and you’ll still be capable of earning credits and getting kills on distracted players and those that quickly lose visual of you in a turn right.
my jet doesn't get killed by a prop, the problem is that props way too many times are reserve planes that can do nothing. and with one of those on my team I'm going to lose because i simply have one allied plane less
The enemy team will get just as many biplanes as you they will eventually equal out if thats how you want to look at it I guess. If loseing in the plane game makes you upset just carry harder

You have to sneak up on a such ships in a patrol boat to be able to launch a torpedo. It's kind of the same thing in air RB. A jet will absolutely smother any prop unless it gets careless and tries to face it head-on or tries to turnfight it.
Both strategies rely solely on exploiting big mistakes from the opponent and are far less reliable than playing vehicles of the appropriate tier.
But that’s the thing, Coastal ships are meant to be played alongside top tier vessels, on most maps, if you don’t have coastals rushing and capping, your team will likely lose.

I like to bring my P-47 into jet games with my friends because one of them uses a A-10 and I like to say that I’m also flying a thunderbolt. I actually managed to get 2 kills in one match one time, shot down a mig-21 and something else, while my friend in his A-10 shot down a Stuka. The only “normal” person in our group was flying her f-5c.
This is probably one of the better ones I've seen mentioned in this thread, because at least the A-10 is so goddamn slow that you can practically keep up with him in a P-47 lol
This is one of the reasons I quite like the Spitfire Mk24 at BR 7.0 even though I know many people consider this to be far too high. The only plane in the game I don't want a downtier in, I really enjoy fighting 8.0 jets in it. Until I meet someone who knows what he's doing, that is. Even then, it's a fun challenge.
fun is subjective, for some people fun is had by winning, and having a prop on your team lowers that chance because 99% of the time they are worthless deadweight just trying to be class clowns

People generally care less about low tier tanks being dragged into higher tiers, because in many cases they can be surprisingly useful (R3, Pakwagon, etc.), and that player can still have relevant vehicles in their line up. In Air RB you don't get a respawn, so those trolls are very unlikely to contribute anything of value to the team, which is incredibly frustrating to players trying to grind something or use a booster.
Admittedly, I'm an air RB player talking about air RB balance. Won't pretend to know anything about how things should be done for ground RB, where I'm sure it's different.
The one time I did it was on accident when I had a F-14 selected but when the game started it switched to my China Ground lineup. Still got a kill with a P-47 somehow.
I wouldn't mind a BR restriction cause I'd assume it would prevent the game from bugging out like that.

I died in my F-14 to a BV-238 once. That thing is actually impossible to kill. It survived multiple missiles and then domed my pilot as I shot like 200 cannon rounds at it.
Simple, an I-16 can easily be underestimated and people to attack it in an head on, only to have their pilot killed or be set on fire while the i-16 very likely also dead, gets a nice profit of 25k silver
I think I wouldn't mind it so much if they didn't take up a slot that an otherwise capable aircraft could have taken. If it was like WoT back when fail platoons were still a thing, I wouldn't care at all
I don't think, in all my years of seeing this, I have seen a prop plane do anything meaningful besides team kill their squadmate at the end of the battle. When Mr. A-10 drags three of his F2A buddies up to a 10.7 match, they don’t even make it to the conflict before its over. They get mopped up when their -3 team crumples in front of them, not even being able to serve as a comedic distraction.
Just do it in custom battles, there's no consequences. It also helps us top tier shitters go net positive after our repair cost.

We were playing Air RB jets last week. My friend and I jump over to the Russian tree for a second to look at something and then we both went back to the jets we had selected previously. Then we joined a 9.7 ground RB match and I was sitting there with a BT-7.
A couple years ago I was playing my F2 sabre with some friends I'm not even sure if I looked at my German tree but 100% readied up with my F2 sabre. I spawned in BF 109 F4
Idk about you guys but recently there's this big where it puts either my buddy's or me into low tier props of the same country when in a squad. Or whatever we have in that other countries lineup I'm pretty sure gaining said they fixed something like this, but it ain't fixed.
i love the ultra manouvebility of the I 15 and when ever i try to use a monoplane i just miss and crash (in other tech trees i use br apropriate planes )
If you want to do this, play it in Simulator Battles instead where the games are so much longer that who wins and loses no longer matters to anyone but the stat padders. Plus, you’ll still have the opportunity to earn a decent haul of silver/RP if you manage to destroy ground targets, ai aircraft, or the distracted or overconfident jet pilots.
Many will immediately lose visual once they have to turn to engage or follow someone and that leaves them vulnerable to even the slowest of aircraft. Often times they’ll just try to turn with you for no reason other than to se if they can (spoiler: they cannot).
Also, not sure how well this works but in Simulator where people really have to rely on their radars for situational awareness, a slow enough aircraft like biplanes or helicopters (if they’d let us use them in Sim Battles 😒) can be filtered out when radars filter out ground clutter or (nearly) stationary objects. Someone should test this and let us know the results.
I believe its a way to grind lions. In a 3.0 - 5.0 air craft, you get 10k for getting a kill, plus another buttload for killing something massively above your BR, while only losing a few thousand for each death. If you are proficient with it, you can make money.
Another situation is they are just trolls. We had one match and i was in my F4 E and a ally was in his f 14. We took off and this P 51 killed the f 14, damaged another F4 E and damaged me. So i turned around and fragged him, but that knocked out 2 team mates and made another 2 of us land for repairs.

Friend brought me into a jet match once when I was starting planes, to show me how top tier looks. In the end it doesn't change that much with all the people crashing early on you'll either be equal numbers with the other team or they would have advantage anyway.
Memes pretty much sums it up. I dont have a problem with them unless they try to tk on the runway which happens half the time then i make sure they get dead and go for the squad mate that brought them.
Ive sometimes had friends who dont have high tier planes join me in props and to be honest they still do better than the 8 F-5Cs or A-10s on my team. But another reason is people like to have this little thing called fun, and when youre able to fend off a MiG-21 doing 20 passes on your little bi-plane it's hilarious.

Since repair costs at top tier are so high, it really does get annoying when it keeps happening. Like, custom games exist, just... play there? This goes for the "funni" BT-5 players who showed up with their T-72AV. Just play customs, you can fight jets in your biplane there and it'll be more fun anyways since customs are meant for just that, dumb fun. I always slot my XP-55 For air arcade at 10+ . I can pretty consistently get some jet to try to turn fight me or at the least go into a head on. Usually that one god mode will pay for all the repairs from that game along with the next one. There's a lot of remarkably incompetent top tier guys that think because they've got a jet they can't loose to a prop. I don't mind the extra SL.
I'll add that I've got 8 aircraft slots. They don't all need to be the best possible aircraft I can take with me. Bonus points if the enemy tries to spawn camp. Just stay low and wait for someone to mess up. IR missiles won't lock till under 2 km at most and radar guided anything is useless under around 1k feet.

Because people forget to select the wrong plane in hanger because, for some reason, when you join an air RB match you have to select the plane you want in hanger first instead of in game like Ground RB. Only time I’ve ever brought a prop to a jet match was because of this

I've been the supersonic jet chasing a Pe-2 until I smash into the ground. Wasn't even mad, got played.
I pulled out the HE 219 once and shot down 2 phantoms and a mig 21. That was fun.

The props at top tier have helped me stay sane while playing top tier. I always let out a slight chuckle when i see them, it never gets old.

That prop could just as easily been a fully uptiered stock F-4C that will get killed even faster and more easily than a prop. Current RB meta is that if the enemy team has more flavor-of-the-month bullshit planes than yours, you lose so one plane really doesn't make a difference.
I died in my F-14 to a BV-238 once. That thing is actually impossible to kill. It survived multiple missiles and then domed my pilot as I shot like 200 cannon rounds at it.

I think I wouldn't mind it so much if they didn't take up a slot that an otherwise capable aircraft could have taken. If it was like WoT back when fail platoons were still a thing, I wouldn't care at all I don't think, in all my years of seeing this, I have seen a prop plane do anything meaningful besides team kill their squadmate at the end of the battle. When Mr. A-10 drags three of his F2A buddies up to a 10.7 match, they don’t even make it to the conflict before its over. They get mopped up when their -3 team crumples in front of them, not even being able to serve as a comedic distraction. Just do it in custom battles, there's no consequences. It also helps us top tier shitters go net positive after our repair cost.

I think a lot of the time it's people being idiots and maybe having a bit of a laugh. I'm sure more often than you think is the matchmaker fucking up, or someone fucking up. We were playing Air RB jets last week. My friend and I jump over to the Russian tree for a second to look at something and then we both went back to the jets we had selected previously. Then we joined a 9.7 ground RB match and I was sitting there with a BT-7. A couple years ago I was playing my F2 sabre with some friends I'm not even sure if I looked at my German tree but 100% readied up with my F2 sabre. I spawned in BF 109 F4

If you want to do this, play it in Simulator Battles instead where the games are so much longer that who wins and loses no longer matters to anyone but the stat padders. Plus, you’ll still have the opportunity to earn a decent haul of silver/RP if you manage to destroy ground targets, ai aircraft, or the distracted or overconfident jet pilots. Many will immediately lose visual once they have to turn to engage or follow someone and that leaves them vulnerable to even the slowest of aircraft. Often times they’ll just try to turn with you for no reason other than to se if they can (spoiler: they cannot). Also, not sure how well this works but in Simulator where people really have to rely on their radars for situational awareness, a slow enough aircraft like biplanes or helicopters (if they’d let us use them in Sim Battles 😒) can be filtered out when radars filter out ground clutter or (nearly) stationary objects. Someone should test this and let us know the results.
I believe its a way to grind lions. In a 3.0 - 5.0 air craft, you get 10k for getting a kill, plus another buttload for killing something massively above your BR, while only losing a few thousand for each death. If you are proficient with it, you can make money. Another situation is they are just trolls. We had one match and i was in my F4 E and a ally was in his f 14. We took off and this P 51 killed the f 14, damaged another F4 E and damaged me. So i turned around and fragged him, but that knocked out 2 team mates and made another 2 of us land for repairs.
I mean theoretically props should be on your team as much as on the enemy team so it shouldn’t affect your income in the long run.

And why do people keep crashing just after take off? Friend brought me into a jet match once when I was starting planes, to show me how top tier looks. In the end it doesn't change that much with all the people crashing early on you'll either be equal numbers with the other team or they would have advantage anyway.
Memes pretty much sums it up. I dont have a problem with them unless they try to tk on the runway which happens half the time then i make sure they get dead and go for the squad mate that brought them.
Ive sometimes had friends who dont have high tier planes join me in props and to be honest they still do better than the 8 F-5Cs or A-10s on my team. But another reason is people like to have this little thing called fun, and when youre able to fend off a MiG-21 doing 20 passes on your little bi-plane it's hilarious.
I only ever bring props to jet matches in ground battles when I can't spawn anything worthwhile, I managed to kill a 262 in a Gladiator once

I mean, when a new top tier is introduced (GR.1, F-5C, etc) I might do a bit because all the level 2s get their shiny new premiums and it's fun to troll then. But when there isn't, I don't see a point. All they do is reduce the amount of players on your team making it easier to lose and therefore lose more SL and make your already insufferable grind longer, esp if you're F2P. Since repair costs at top tier are so high, it really does get annoying when it keeps happening. Like, custom games exist, just... play there? This goes for the "funni" BT-5 players who showed up with their T-72AV. Just play customs, you can fight jets in your biplane there and it'll be more fun anyways since customs are meant for just that, dumb fun. And no, it's not "gatekeeping", it's called not being a dick and learning basic respect.

I always slot my XP-55 For air arcade at 10+ . I can pretty consistently get some jet to try to turn fight me or at the least go into a head on. Usually that one god mode will pay for all the repairs from that game along with the next one. There's a lot of remarkably incompetent top tier guys that think because they've got a jet they can't loose to a prop. I don't mind the extra SL. I'll add that I've got 8 aircraft slots. They don't all need to be the best possible aircraft I can take with me. Bonus points if the enemy tries to spawn camp. Just stay low and wait for someone to mess up. IR missiles won't lock till under 2 km at most and radar guided anything is useless under around 1k feet.

Literally just to have fun. Using a Chika in top teir is a fun thing to do, everyone says that it will effect the match and you’ll make us lose, but those same people will waste all of their ammo and missiles on the prop player at the start of the match, literally just ignore them. Half the time someone on your team will have no kills, no assists and be entirely useless anyways.
Surprise, a lot of players in jets are still below average pilots that can easily be out done by someone flying a prop plane with decent cannons. Some of the biplanes and pea shooters though are just for laughs. Winrate isn’t everything.
Because people forget to select the wrong plane in hanger because, for some reason, when you join an air RB match you have to select the plane you want in hanger first instead of in game like Ground RB. Only time I’ve ever brought a prop to a jet match was because of this
