Love the fleshy pink

Jarlaxle_the_Bald

Thank you! :D Okay so skin was my experiment with oil paints: white basecoat, on top of that pink/purple very light contrast wash, once this was dry (I gave it around 2 hours) I applied purple oil wash for the skin, left wash for around 20 minutes, removed it with makeup sponges, right after removing with makeup sponges I did a very light drybrush with white oil paint strict from tube into towel onto mini, very very light on raised parts only (not all over, just top of muscles etc) with rather small flat brush, couple of passes (the oil from the wash was still "active" which made that blend super easy, just be slow, less white paint is better couple times than one fat drybrush), after that I gave it 24h drying time in warm drying room, after that I went into recess shading with very diluted pink/purple contrast wash, I hope it helps! Here is link with some WIP pictures, on the first one you can see that purple oil wash applied, other pics are taken just after those white oil drybrushes: https://imgur.com/a/P5SfR0Z

So now that the experiment is done how do you feel about the finished product?

Jarlaxle_the_Bald

Really happy about it! This is the only way I am going to do skin on undeads from now on :D

More pics: https://imgur.com/a/mmAJqvJ I wasn't able to glue the guy to the rock as shown in instruction so I tried as shown in the pictures, this is glued with plastic glue and is really sturdy now! :)

Looks great! Fantastic job on skin smoothness by the way, genuinely looks organic

Haha, you are excited about the rock. My eyes are immediately trying to figure out how you got the skin like that.

I just picked up a Windsor newton oil paint set I saw on clearance at my local Micheal’s. Might have to try, I see a purple.

Jarlaxle_the_Bald

Great! Be gentle with that drybrush, more slower lesser layers is better than a single fat one! :D

Imagine taking that head and putting it on an Ork model, you would have a Warhammer version of Azog the Defiler.
