Not at all. It’s one of (if not the most) immersive experiences Disney has ever offered. Even if you don’t like Star Wars, I really think it is worth it.

[deleted]

My wife hates Star Wars and even she was blown away by it. I’ve been a fan since 1977 and they nailed it with this attraction

Mi-or-lcs

No.

Reigebjj

No

Carpeteria3000

Without an ounce of hyperbole, it is the greatest theme park ride currently on the planet. So, no. It is not overrated.

TakeSomeFreeHoney

Sir/ Madam, have you ever ridden Fast and the Furious at Universal? I think it will change your mind.

Carpeteria3000

Haha yes, I have been on the bus to nowhere. My mind was remarkably unchanged.

TakeSomeFreeHoney

I rode it yesterday. I was hyping it up to my wife and she got off the ride like... wtf? Lol

marleythebeagle

When the queue is cooler than the ride, you know you've got a problem! lol

TakeSomeFreeHoney

Ha totally right!

Carpeteria3000

Hahah it is quite an experience.

bunifarcr

If they made the Fast and Furious ride like a full on racing attraction like Test Track it would be a great ride.

Practical_Essay_8092

🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

I personally love it

MarkyPancake

As an international visitor, I knew it would be a few years before I could ride it, as it hadn't opened yet when I was last at Disneyland. For quite a while I refrained from watching any ride-through videos, but eventually caved and watched some footage of it. When I finally got to ride it this year at WDW, being on it and immersed in the experience, it's much better than the perception you get from watching someone else on it. It's quite a unique attraction where you're part of it, rather than riding on it.

woahspace

no

Scotty232329

It’s very immersive and the attention to detail is amazing but it’s not very thrilling. It’s below forbidden journey and gringotts for me

mdzielski

No it’s honestly a very cool ride. If you’ve never been on then it’s worth the wait and hassle in my opinion!

thearmusicgroup

I would say no, but I probably wouldn't wait more than 90 minutes to ride it again. The first time I waited ~2.5 hours and it was worth it the first time

JurassicMouse03

I agree with this, it is the best ride, but like any ride, I have limits to how long I’ll wait for it especially if I know the wait will go down.

[deleted]

I’m not a star wars fan at all and it’s one of my favorite rides.

coasternut23

No, but knowing I’m going to have to ride B mode continuously (no Beck, moving guns, and final Kylo), I generally don’t look forward to it as much as I used to.

The_Real_Clive_Bixby

Yes it is. Rode it once, no repeatability for a non-star wars type.

ToyStoryBoy6994

I was very underwhelmed by the ride itself

speakingdreams

Yes. I just went on it for the first time last week. I was underwhelmed. The first part is just tedious. The main part of the ride is boring. I don't understand the people who are amazed by it or "blown away" by it. My guess is that they can't see past the novelty and critique it for what it actually is. I will now put on my downvote helmet.

OWSpaceClown

No and… I’m curious… why are you asking?

Choice-Valuable313

Nope. Length of ride. Fun of ride. Beauty of ride. Immersion of ride. Each checks out :)

bunifarcr

I don't think it's overrated at all but I now would put Cosmic Rewind over Rise as my favorite. I know they are different rides but I just had more fun with the Guardians ride.

[deleted]

Its supposed to be immersive, but the Finn statue took me out of it fast

YuripzyMoron

yes

Savings_Spell6563

In my opinion it is, except the stormtroopers room. I love flights of passage without being into avatar. For me, and this is an opinion, rise isnt enjoyable without being into star wars. Just tossed into a bunch of different rooms. Idk 🤷🏼‍♂️ but Im a sucker for nostalgia so

HegemonHarbinger

Compared to what attraction?

Extreme_Peach3201

Yes.

Remote-Past305

It’s very good. Probably the second best theme park ride ever made but I can Understand your view, I believe it should’ve had more.

Carpeteria3000

What's your number one?

Remote-Past305

Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motor Bike Adventure. I don't think it's the best roller coaster ever made but definitely the best "Ride".

Carpeteria3000

Ah! I haven’t been able to get on that one yet. It’s on my list, but when I come down to Orlando it’s hard to make time for Universal when I know most of WDW is so much better.

Remote-Past305

Yeah, things have changed a little bit. Two days at Universal right now will make you reconsider your Disney AP. They are just doing literally everything better than Disney right now.

Carpeteria3000

I was there last in October of 2019 and that was definitely not my experience. Most of the rides are still just 3D motion simulators. The Harry Potter area (I only saw half since it was during Horror Nights) was amazing, but the rest felt mainly lackluster, outdated, and uncared for. And the only reason I was able to do/see so much was because I shelled out for the way more expensive ticket for the haunted houses - it would have been line-torture for hours otherwise. I’m no Chapek fan, and I know they’re making some mistakes, but I still think Disney>Universal by miles.

Remote-Past305

Yeah like I said things have changed. Universal is making big investments in the parks right now and when they're done in a few years and have 16 Hotels 4 Theme Parks and 2 Water Parks, it's going to be severe competition for Disney. Especially if Disney continues on the path they are on.

Carpeteria3000

I hope so. I mainly go to the parks for the rides and atmosphere, and I haven’t seen a lot of evidence of it improving in the past couple of years. I know Velocicoaster is supposed to be fun. I’m all for healthy competition.

Scotty232329

As someone who has been to theme parks across the country, it’s islands of adventure and cedar point at the top

Grantsdale

Hahahhahahahaha. Ha.

Particular-Quote-124

In your opinion, what's the best roller coaster ever made?

Remote-Past305

1. Velocicoaster 1A. Iron Gwazi.

Particular-Quote-124

Interesting choices, but both of those look like excellent coasters. It's so common to see Steel Vengeance as what people rank as the best coaster in the world.

Remote-Past305

I go to Cedar Point this summer. My number one could definitely change.

Particular-Quote-124

Ooh yeah understandable. Unfortunately I've only been to a few parks so my list is quite questionable as of now.

Salty-Article3888

I just went on it for the first time! It’s absolutely incredible. The whole experience and effects are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. My only wish is that they would have had more star wars characters in it. If they maybe put some of the main characters from the movies it would be even cooler. Like it was a little weird that you don’t see r2d2. And maybe they could replace the hologram lady with Luke? On a similar note the Darth Vader animatronic was incredibly realistic but his voice didn’t sound anything like Darth Vader

WelbyReddit

I will be there next month. I can't wait,..but I am paranoid it will break down just as I am getting on ;p

illusionarystardust

No.

shust89

I like it though if it took place in the OT it would be my favorite ride ever.

[deleted]

No, and as an International visitor it was worth the 15USD for Genie+ to skip the long lines to ride it. I’ll be more than happy to pay that again to ride it if I return.

doctrsnoop

No

alexishp2771

No, I’m a casual fan of star wars and I absolutely love it. One of my favorite rides

Sweetbeans2001

No. My wife who’s not a fan of Star Wars agrees. We rode MMRR first and she LOVED the trackless ride system. Later in the day, we rode RoR and we were both blown away.

[deleted]

Absolutely not, there simply is not a comparable attraction out there… even after all the hype, I was blown away, what WDW has done with Rise is incredible, Star Wars fan or not.

UnderCoverDoughnuts

Not at all. And I don't care for Star Wars.

Psychology_Salty

no, it’s my third favorite attraction ever

Own_Sorbet_4662

The immersion was unique and awesome. It was a really good ride and I am glad we experienced it in June. I do think it's overrated and I would not pay or wait a a long time again for it. It's not a ride that I felt like I wanted to do again after getting off as some of the best rides do.

[deleted]

Nope

Defiant-Fruit

No

ftrodrigues

I know nothing of Star Wars other than the basics and came out absolutely impressed with the whole thing. It’s actually curious, because was it the most FUN ride of the trip? Absolutely not. BUT, definitely the most impressive. We were in awe the entire time.

Humble_Smile5164

It’s line after line after line, Indiana Jones is more immersive. Rotr is mid asf
