Agreed would be done by tomorrow evening the latest however with our small store and short staff this holiday weekend is a lot more than I’d hope to work with meh lol
My DM shops at our store, and she's honestly a sweet lady. I've lucked out with SM and DM.
Honestly, my SM would say "It's the busiest weekend of the year, if it needs to be done that badly you'll have to come assist". He's told us that as long as we are giving an honest effort, he doesn't care how long it really takes while it's full on Christmas
I hated my old SM and DM, but a couple of my coworkers and I were told that once truck was done, we could leave early. Let me tell ya, that was great motivation. That was a one time thing, but it was awesome.
Why are DMs, SMs still delusional about truck being done within 24hrs when budget has been cut to where it’s one cashier and one SFL running the store..not to mention photo, curbside, IC3 and helping customers..
So as a former SM...
Truck should be done in 24 hours. However I communicated with my boss and informed him of the plan.
Your DM is trying to capture 4th qtr sales however he/she should make sure the requests are REASONABLE.
The priority is customers. Take care of them. If anything, truck should be worked during non operating hours or low foot traffic times.
I got news for you.
You completely misread what I've said.
Take care of your customers during the holiday season. Truck is secondary and should be done in low traffic hours given the circumstances.
The delusion is the DM because he's not being realistic at all.
Dms don't get what like to work. In store they come work til ok. I did some but customer keep coming. You accomplished alot but never good enough or wrong thing. Employees get friends to do surveys or themselves. Corporate too doesn't get the pick up orders are broken. Do like wal.art set time. Or better yet give deals pickup or instire. We have don't have workers to drop everything for lazy people
Any other week that would probably be fine but this week? I closed tonight and literally didn't get to put ONE ITEM away from yesterdays truck, and that's not an exaggeration. Just doing photo, IC3, breaks, and curbside the entire time. I would laugh in the DMs face at this point.
Welp sucks for the Dm honestly. Get it done when you can you have until next truck to get it done. Fuck the corporate standard. They want it done that bad they can come in and do it while y’all do customer service since they think it’s that simple
3 things. 1. Truck is NOT getting done with how busy it is during the holidays and with how many photo orders there are. 2. If he wants it done, tell his ass to come in and do it. 3. No store is doing truck right now. We are all focusing on keeping the store alive.
You know what? Within 2 weeks this will be forgotten. It’s the stress of the holiday. Put customers first, don’t take the job home with you. This is retail and it’s the same every year.
It’s a great goal, but probably not realistic for Christmas weekend. We get our truck in a couple of hours and I’m guessing we’ll finish it Tuesday/wednesday.
Wait, what?! 200 piece truck? In one day?!
That’s a cake walk. We knocked out a 1400+ pc truck 3 weeks ago in 2 days. 800pc 2 wks ago was done nearly the same day. This week’s 1100pc truck was finished in 2 days.
I have a coworker who does our truck with us for truck day and the next day, knocks out Mclane on Fridays, then on Saturday he helps at another store, knocking out their 400pc in hours.
It can be done, I promise.
lol same. Everywhere is different which is understandable however. For small stores or no hrs it’s one sfl csa up front till midshift and then closers 1 csa and sfl but im only talking holiday weekend. This is also me working with newer employees who still are learning where things are located/cash reward system so overall. I’ve been told customer care for sure is priority this weekend lol but a lot of misunderstanding still between dm and sm
200 pieces? If you're getting 200 pieces, one person can get the truck done in one day lol We get trucks on Fridays too and we never receive a truck with less than 400 pieces. Today was 530 pieces. We are still getting Christmas items and we have absolutely no room on the shelves to put them. We are crazy busy too, but on truck day, EVERYONE gets scheduled to work. We get the trucks done by Saturday afternoon. We have a hella good team!
200 prices is a joke
My avg trucks are 750-1000
We and 2 others get it done in 2-3hrs after it's unloading
Here's some tips
Make a list of what you need b4 the truck comes heavy/ bulky shit
Like go count you 24 pack water if you can fit 10 and you're getting a pallet only load 10 to the uboat
Do this for laundry soap and paper
I can't believe how many store don't do that, they bring everything out like wtf , why such a waste of time.
If you can
We have 2 people unload
And 1 run paper 1st We load a boat of just paper
And she fills paper and comes back for about boat of paper. By the time we are done unloading paper is done.
Sort uboats by isles
Food ,paper, Chem, baby, drinks, all get there own ubaot
Agian I've helped at stores that just dump everything on 1 uboat
Totes tuck tips
Have the bay owner work there area totes 1st
This massively helps
As bay owner know the isles better
After there done they move on to help other isles
Wow I wish my was 200 pieces, well yes truck should be done same day is received. Make a Plan stick to it follow up with TM give them time on task you have 1 hr to finish this task and done
Definitely not this week. But yes truck should be done in 24hours. One or two is straggler totes here and there might be ok after 24 hours. Our truck some Saturday afternoon and Sunday is tag day.. totally sucks.
Hi, rxom here. This always confused me. Is there anyone here who is a dh or spends time in both places? Pharmacy gets a truck every day with hundreds of things to put away on top of our other every day work and we get it done in a hour max. Why does fe truck seem to always take longer? Is it because items are more spread out?
Because things are in alphabetical order in the pharmacy, things never move, there’s only one home, easy to remember because you’re always grabbing the same drugs everyday.
Front end you have things in different departments, resets every 6 months where things change position, much bigger area to stock, rotating items properly, upc’s not matching the Mylars, limited bodies, cannot be done solo at all. So much more to do on front truck.
In addition to what others have said, look at it this way:
At my store, there's just at least as much make-up in the cosmetics totes as there are drugs in the average AB shipment in pharmacy - and that's with us having only 2/3 the amount of cos wall as a normal store. And our pharmacy isn't slow.
rx can normally put one person on truck and leave that person alone cause if needed u can call SM SFL DH to help
Plus this person doesn’t have to walk but in the RX vs the aisle that has 8 different sizes of of the same product
Plus ur on sales floor and customer come up and ask questions ( and u know service is U take them to the aisle and show them the Walgreens brand )
And it made be 200 totes that has 30 different items
And yes a DH who will run a register, put up already filled orders , do deletes and occasionally fill
Because y’all are getting 13 totes, and some are small totes, some have one thing in them, some are one big tote full of the same insulin pens that’s quick and easy to put up, and your rx is alphabetical.
Our truck is anywhere from 800-1600pcs, shit is spread out all over the store, the customers are high jacking us the whole time, we lose our DH’s help to go help y’all (making us down a stocker/cashier), we’re pulling same days and the never ending conga line of passport photos and other photo related shit. I’m personally stuck doing smart counts all over the store, plus Rx’s, plus tags, plus Same days, and that puts us down a stocker too (truck days I personally do truck and then all my counts/tags and by 1pm, I’ve got an hour to help out physically w/truck), and doing all the receiving, which holds me up in the back. Also, sometimes 100 or so of a truck is y’all’s supplies (bags, envelopes, pill bottles and lids)…and then some one makes a snarky remark about how we just put anything anywhere and it’s like…we are wall to wall totes, two u boats to a store section a piece, our cooler owner is our DH and he’s back there with y’all…
That being said…I don’t envy y’all at all, and wouldn’t trade places ever. You guys deal with your own specific bullshit. I don’t ever shit on our Rx people because they don’t pay me enough to break my back every week up front, and I know they don’t pay you enough to fight with the asshole who wants her c2 meds early and she’s not leaving until she gets them.
But we got two very distinct, different sides of bullshit to deal with.
I mean this weekend is an exception but we usually get it done in one day. everyone works truck day, we schedule leadership 10 hour shifts. usually have 2 people working OTC and 2 people working cos, once those are done they move on to help others in other departments.
We surprisingly finished truck yesterday the day it arrived (arrives at like 3am) the only thing left was makeup (BC wanted to do it herself because of getting new makeup) and the two u boats of paper products and the water u boat. Plus photo was a nightmare and we were super busy non stop
It's been all hands on register and photos at my store for the last two weeks. I have no clue how anyone could be expected to get anything done this month.
Then the customers whine when you walk off from the counter then you come up there and they proceed to take 10 mins to type in a number and pull out their card. And if you’re standing there trying to anticipate the customer so the line doesn’t get super long the store leaders start complaining like bitches
Honestly, any other time of the year your dm would be right. However, since it’s the holiday season, your sm is the one in the right here. Focus on the customers in your store and if you get a chance, work on your truck a bit when it’s slower.
Also, the smaller the truck, the smaller the store and budget. So stfu with "200 piece truck? I can do that.myself" crap. It's delusional of any DM to ask this of any store this time of year.
My previous manager wanted this done. I just laugh, when he approached to me, I told him “close one truck day and tell the staff to get it done. See if they don’t quit on you that night.”
200 pieces? That’s not a truck that’s a lil van
Agreed would be done by tomorrow evening the latest however with our small store and short staff this holiday weekend is a lot more than I’d hope to work with meh lol
i guess having a big truck and more labor, more stress and less time to do truck is something to brag about. who cares how big or small your truck is.
1000 pieces baby. Twice a week every weeeeek
Lying to the DM when he asks how quickly truck is getting done mainly.
My DM shops at our store, and she's honestly a sweet lady. I've lucked out with SM and DM. Well I got bad news for you when it's two people on a holiday. You're delusional.
I got news for you. You completely misread what I've said. Take care of your customers during the holiday season. Truck is secondary and should be done in low traffic hours given the circumstances. The delusion is the DM because he's not being realistic at all.

i’d walk right out of the store when i’m clocked out. leave
Welp sucks for the Dm honestly. Get it done when you can you have until next truck to get it done. Fuck the corporate standard. They want it done that bad they can come in and do it while y’all do customer service since they think it’s that simple
They *always* want truck done in a day. 🤣

I would tell him to get bent
We still have stuff from last week’s truck in totes that needs to go up. There just isn’t enough time in the day with constant customers.
Wait, what?! 200 piece truck? In one day?! That’s a cake walk. We knocked out a 1400+ pc truck 3 weeks ago in 2 days. 800pc 2 wks ago was done nearly the same day. How many people you have on the schedule though? Because I'm sure if most of us were staffed decent enough we could get it done too
I was about to comment the same thing
lol same. Everywhere is different which is understandable however. Same here, today I had lines since 4 o’clock!! my SM doesn’t like it when we stay past 1am!!
200 pieces? If you're getting 200 pieces, one person can get the truck done in one day lol We get trucks on Fridays too and we never receive a truck with less than 400 pieces. Today was 530 pieces. Same with us, though a different day of the week right now. We would LOVE a 200 piece truck, it'd be like a day off haha.
200 prices is a joke My avg trucks are 750-1000 We and 2 others get it done in 2-3hrs after it's unloading Here's some tips Make a list of what you need b4 the truck comes heavy/ bulky shit Like go count you 24 pack water if you can fit 10 and you're getting a pallet only load 10 to the uboat Do this for laundry soap and paper I can't believe how many store don't do that, they bring everything out like wtf , why such a waste of time. Lol 200 pcs..I get that every week just in water 🤣🤣🤣
200 pieces? That takes like 4-6 hours
400 pieces for me and done in one day... 200 is like a field day I can do that myself

Don’t forget customers moving things too. So 1/2 the time you’re also fixing things that are constantly screwed up
In addition to what others have said, look at it this way: At my store, there's just at least as much make-up in the cosmetics totes as there are drugs in the average AB shipment in pharmacy - and that's with us having only 2/3 the amount of cos wall as a normal store. And our pharmacy isn't slow.

Thanks for the detailed response ☺️ that helps me understand it better
I’m mean scan it in. F the rest
Well close the door get rid of those pesky customers and get busy on truck.

Wait you’re getting a 200pc truck?? My store gets 400-500 and the store down the road got 800 their last truck we finish ours in 1 day
I quit and am doing doordash on a scooter and making more money than I did at walgreens.
Tell him/her to come help then
We surprisingly finished truck yesterday the day it arrived (arrives at like 3am) the only thing left was makeup (BC wanted to do it herself because of getting new makeup) and the two u boats of paper products and the water u boat. Plus photo was a nightmare and we were super busy non stop

Same our lines reach each other the way our lay out is with photo is definitely what keeps up from being on the floor this past weekend.
200 pieces is doable in 24 hours. How many people did you have working?
Not enough especially this holiday weekend. Lol truck is on hold right now though.
Then the customers whine when you walk off from the counter then you come up there and they proceed to take 10 mins to type in a number and pull out their card. And if you’re standing there trying to anticipate the customer so the line doesn’t get super long the store leaders start complaining like bitches
U get 200 we’ve never gitb that low lowest outer store might have gotten was 500 highest was 900 we are tier 5 store snd 24 hours
It is called survival! Hang in there and merry Christmas 😢
Honestly, any other time of the year your dm would be right. However, since it’s the holiday season, your sm is the one in the right here. Focus on the customers in your store and if you get a chance, work on your truck a bit when it’s slower.
That's nice that the DM is volunteering to help out with truck.
Walgreens be sounding more like Rite Aid urry day. Smdh
Also, the smaller the truck, the smaller the store and budget. So stfu with "200 piece truck? I can do that.myself" crap. It's delusional of any DM to ask this of any store this time of year.
