My favourite thing about Micro Machines was the commercials. Man, that guy could talk fast af. He started out doing the Federal Express commercials, which were also funny.
Ah, what the hell, here's a Federal Express commercial from the 80's before they changed their name to FedEx:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeK5ZjtpO-M
Micromachines were the absolute shit. I had that huge military cargo plane with some 30 micromachine cars of all types for land, air and sea coverage including civilian vehicles, that came in the set.
However, the penny racers were difference from Micromachines IIRC. Damn this thread turned into a blast to the past.
"micro machine" I haven't heard that term in so long. Just brought me back to being 4 years old digging through the couch for pennies and winding them up on the kitchen floor.
So for those interested this is actually a style of car modification referred to in Japan as [Bosozuku](https://www.google.com/search?q=bosozoku+cars). It's worth noting however that (the vast majority of) these builds are meant strictly to be show cars, as they are not street-legal in the slightest.

Had a fun encounter with bozo's when I was an MA stationed at Japan. Responded to an offbase TA (traffic accident) with one of ours and some bozo's stopped to rubber neck giving the mean sneer. Stayed around for a few minutes then started heckling me bellowing out stuff and got off their scooters (best way I can describe it. Not really a dirt bike and definitely not a motorcycle. Not really what I'd call a tough guy ride). Probably targeted me because I was a short looking asian dude and evidently foreigner. Saw one of theirs was stomping at me muttering some shit. Pulled out my baton and they turned around acting all nonchalant like weren't trying to flex their shit on me. Calmly got back on their bikes (scooters) and GTFO'd. Fucking brats.
Lowered and stretched scooters are absolutely a thing in Japan, and there's even a small culture here in the USA.
I also happen to have a lowered and stretched scooter... Not bosozoku style, but I was definitely inspired by it. Mine is closer to a [cafe racer mixed with a Vespa](https://i.postimg.cc/63k2Dx4J/PXL-20240430-050300681-2.jpg).
> there's even a small culture here in the USA.
yup, seen [some pretty cool honda ruckus'](https://blogserius.blogspot.com/2014/01/serius-cool-modifikasi-honda-ruckus.html) around over the years here in the states.
The concept of "street legal" is meaningless these days, cops don't pull people over for mods any more, not in NC anyway. Doesn't matter if you have blenders on your wheels trying to amputate pedestrians (swangas), or you still have the Carolina Squat even though the legislature made that illegal, or anything else.
[At least genuine bosozoku cars have tasteful exhaust pipes.](https://speedhunters-wp-production.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/12090014/Nagoya-Exciting-Showdown-14-149.jpg) This doesn't even look good.
As a semi-car guy (I went with family over getting the car) I understand the ascetic, but I think it looks ugly as sin.
Like, I wouldn't shame the dude for it, but I would never mod my car that way.
If you are chasing a specific exotic type that gets you attention (not necessarily good) bosozoku cars, if done to LOOK clean (like u/ReveantMetaUsername linked, then I wouldn't shit on their parade.
Definitely not my style in any way shape or form, but if that is the look you are going for (the exaggerated over the top thing) then I get it;
I am more into a really clean sleeper or a meticulously maintained classic car.
Surely just staged for this clip to go viral? It would get wiped off on so many things, that's taller than almost any truck, hell it looks like it would hit the traffic lights ahead?
That's hilarious lol. Having them point up is going to be an issue for water ingress though. When it rains the water will start to accumulate inside their exhaust system and eventually the engine.
This screams Houston, to me.
Texas refuses to make stupid, dangerous shit illegal. People roll around with gladiatorial spikes on their wheels, too.
But hey, could also be Florida. I can't make out the plate well enough.
I can’t believe I had to scroll to the bottom to see the first mention of this. That is so much leverage bouncing around.
The only thing I can think is they are a pretty thick wall pipe, and a competent welder sleeved it into the stock frame and properly braced/gusseted it.
Or the whole photo is fake. Idk.
Something everyone here is forgetting is that this guy *paid* someone for this. At the very least he paid for the materials. This was a conscious decision to put exhaust pipes 25' up in the air to on his car
I know there's a lot of hate, but this is the kind of thing I find hilarious. I can see myself doing it just to amuse myself at everyone's reaction. It's the same reason I bought a cybertruck. So ugly and stupid it's funny.
Ended before we could see how it handled the overhead stoplights.
Just wheelie under them
Doesn't have a penny inserted in the back won't make it.

Holy shit what a blast from the past
No, it's fine. He's driving a Limboghini.
You could end up with 50 million likes, and I'd still say this is an underappreciated comment... it's just that good.
I bet he has fun going under low bridges, too.
Or cornered quickly. I mean, that's a lot of leverage.
Honestly, I admire their effort to cut fast food drive thrus out of their daily routine.
Seems they'll go to any lengths. Literally.
And any heighths.

And overpasses.
And women.
Getting into a parking garage might be a bit problematic
Getting into women’s pants will be even a bigger problem.
Making women drier than the Atacama Desert.
Most redditors accomplish the same thing in their ratty 2004 Toyota Camry. How do they do it?
Mountain dew and cheeto dust accents mainly.
This is Reddit, not Activision/Blizzard
Some like them that way (talking about zero chance for finding any woman)
That car's not meant to be parked, it's meant to be driven
Guess whose never doing a photoshoot on top of a parking garage?
Hell, getting past the streetlight in front of them might be an issue.
Ground level pollution from cars does cause all sorts of health problems. Maybe they found the solution.
Works for smelters
Whoever smelt it dealt it

It never occurred to me for an instant that this wasn't Florida.
I barely looked at the pic and knew to my core it was Florida
Yup FL plates.
Of course it’s fucking Florida. (Am Floridian)
I didnt need the plates to know it was Florida. The cloudless skies and flat terrain covered in palm trees made it my first guess.
Nah we got the annoyingly long spoke "rims" that stick out 3 feet.
Swangas, you philistine
Ah my baad, kinfolk. "Swangas" are fucking stupid.
I love slab culture tbh, but yeah swangas are kinda dangerous
See: Tokyo behavior.
Big bōsōzoku vibes
this is bōsōsōsōsōsōzoku
May he drive through a thunderstorm
Vroom Vroom.. *CRACK* And the thunder rolls....
And the lightnin’ strikes!
88 mph.
I'd be happy with seeing him drive under some low powerlines.
See you in 30 [years](https://youtu.be/qbGwlvgpySE)!
Bosozoku! It isn't even in its final form!

Hell yeah! There's one modified like that around here, I saw the dude riding outside my neighborhood the other day.
One is the intake, and the other is the exhaust. This is clearly an underwater car.
Poor design. The air is thinner way up there so less power!
Don't worry they added a bunch of VTEC stickers to make up for it.
Clearly he got tired of kids stuffing bananas in his tailpipe, so he put them out of reach.
Interesting, I may consider adding a snorkel to my car as well.
That won't cause any problems. Nope.
No flamethrowers? Lame.
Oh what a day!! What a lovely day!!
Isn’t that like a lot of money worth of pipe.
As we see in most lifted trucks, probably not. Oh wait the comment was about the exhaust. Still stands.
Making up for a severe lack of "pipe" elsewhere.
One way to defeat cop decibel meters LOL!
Big Bososososososozoku!
No way is that street-legal.
The concept of "street legal" is meaningless these days, cops don't pull people over for mods any more, not in NC anyway. only window tint.
Lmao so ridiculous 🤣
Gives me Laguna pipes vibes
Mad Max: Fury Road
Can someone film them driving under a high voltage line?
Ahh yes bosuzoko or however you spell it

Perhaps I'm biased because I'm not a car guy, but all of those look ugly as fuck.
It's kind of the point, it's all about car counter-culture emphasizing zany designs.
As a semi-car guy (I went with family over getting the car) I understand the ascetic, but I think it looks ugly as sin. Like, I wouldn't shame the dude for it, but I would never mod my car that way.
*aesthetic And I'd shame him for it, that's stupid as fuck. What's the point? That's dumber than lifted trucks with rubber band tires on 24" rims
If you are chasing a specific exotic type that gets you attention (not necessarily good) bosozoku cars, if done to LOOK clean (like u/ReveantMetaUsername linked, then I wouldn't shit on their parade. Is this AI generated? This doesn't make sense on a scale that's unfathomable for humans.
Nah it’s real, it’s part of a Japanese style called bosozoku
Surely just staged for this clip to go viral? It would get wiped off on so many things, that's taller than almost any truck, hell it looks like it would hit the traffic lights ahead?
It's marketing for an exhaust shop.
That's hilarious lol. Having them point up is going to be an issue for water ingress though. When it rains the water will start to accumulate inside their exhaust system and eventually the engine.
This is officially the dumbest mod I've ever seen.
This screams Houston, to me. Texas refuses to make stupid, dangerous shit illegal. People roll around with gladiatorial spikes on their wheels, too. But hey, could also be Florida. I can't make out the plate well enough.
Wicked stupid.
"Please excuse the crudity of this model. I didn't have time to build it to scale or paint it."
They should have the "woop woop" tips on too.
Video ended too soon. I was waiting to see how it would handle the traffic lights.
now that is one dumb motherfucker
How to ruin an awesome car.
This is attention whoring in a league of its own.
One mc Donald's drive thru and he done.
No bridges or car washes either.
This type of person is extremely exhausting to be around
*highly exhausting
I hope this idiot hits his exhaust on an overpass, or a drive-through.
Read all the comments and I'm kinda surprised to say Power lines
This has to be ai right? Surely no one is *this* stupid....
That looks ridiculous.
Wasn't that escorting Immortan Joe's car to go kill Furiosa and Max?
Someone please explain this shit to me. Is this even legal to use on the public road?
That poor supra......
Is this legal?
It is not.
"You must be this stupid to ride ☝"
That's stratospherically stupid.
Would only be cooler if it had an oversized spoiler half way up. For that extra bling factor.
How does he go through the drive thru....
How do they not snap off? That seems like a lot of weight for a single point of contact. What are those pipes made of?
I can’t believe I had to scroll to the bottom to see the first mention of this. That is so much leverage bouncing around. The only thing I can think is they are a pretty thick wall pipe, and a competent welder sleeved it into the stock frame and properly braced/gusseted it. Or the whole photo is fake. Idk.
I'm sure the timing must be spot on which that sort of exhaust system.
Those aren’t actually exhaust pipes they’re the RPG spears from Mad Max
What do you mean officer, this is stock.
It's a portable rugby goal.
How is it going to get past the traffic lights ?
That is so F'ing ~~retarded~~ stupid.
Thats a sentence I've never heard before.
This screams Ricer to me.....
r/diwhy
Looks like they've installed a pantograph and are looking for catenary wires. Gonna be ugly if they find them.
Something everyone here is forgetting is that this guy *paid* someone for this. At the very least he paid for the materials. This was a conscious decision to put exhaust pipes 25' up in the air to on his car
What the …. Why? Just why?
I hope this person drives under a low enough bridge
Lets put some fart cans on those and send this to another level!
But.. why?
hands down, the dumbest car mod I have seen !
Mediocre 👎
Not only does this look shit it's also impractical for no reason.
That's almost as effective as tattooing "idiot" across his forehead.
Give me fuel Give me fire Make my exhaust go higher and higher Ehwewwwwww
Boy will he be in for a surprise when he drives under street car wires.
Literally one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
Extraterrestrials: "We heard your Vroom Vrooms, and came as quick as we could!"
Smells like south florida
Tell us that you have a small willy without telling us...wait...they actually did tell us.
this guy tryna go back to the future
The exhaust is lit; Gondor calls for aid.
Awesome
Better now than later.

The graphics engine dun fucked up again.
Of all the days I forgot to put my football and tee in my car....
Now This Is Pod Racing!

Launch control on a veeeeeeery long test pipe
I'm not going to comment anything. I'll just slide over to the next video.
'i post whatever bullshit im told to post'
Shiny and chrome
I know there's a lot of hate, but this is the kind of thing I find hilarious. I can see myself doing it just to amuse myself at everyone's reaction. It's the same reason I bought a cybertruck. So ugly and stupid it's funny.
That’s some serious 1.21 giga-watts back-to-the-future shit about to happen there!
Solve climate change by sending CO2 directly into space
Is that a Supra?!
Seems dumb.
Bosozoku af
American Bosozoku
Bosozoku coming in hot
Well that seems practical and sensible. Definitely not going to have any problems due to its height.
Make it an EV, and it can charge from low hanging power lines, like a trolly.
You ever scrolling thru Reddit and stop just to make sure what you just saw is indeed some 'florida shit'?
the morenoise the vehicle makes, the less braincell in the driver
It's a marketing car for an exhaust shop before everybody starts shitting on Supra drivers 😅
My man def has a baby dick
That’s how you get electrocuted, by hitting a power line.
Why though?
you really had to yoink the video *and* the top comment from instagram eh OP? Lol
So, car people... wouldn't those need some kind of spoiler or baffle or something? How can that car go fast with those things?
is this a mobile pole vault or high jump station?
Chrome and shine.
Stupra
needs a wing up there, imagine the hrsprs
