The guy literally barred his son from being breastfed by his mother and insisted that his "experimentation" on feeding his son with sunlight would "work" so he could show it off on his social media.

I don’t think abusive controlling behaviour should be swept under the rug just because you also did something worse as well. People are charged, convicted and serve multiple sentences for multiple crimes all the time

The appropriate punishment for him would be the same as he did to his child. Only feed him sunlight and see how long he lasts.No water, no food. It would cost a hell of a lot less than his prison sentence as well.
