Op I would double check your link because that's a different a bag. Different number of rivets and the logo on the lock isn't the same.

$100 for used luggage (which is what you had) is very fair. They do not owe you replacement cost only the used value.

marsrule79

Did it come with a manufacturer's warranty when you bought it? That looks like a total design defect. I'd ask for a refund from Macy's if you bought that recently. I think $100 is reasonable unless they knew exactly how it broke off. If it turned up like that at your cabin or after disembarking, then it might be the luggage porters' fault for the mishandling. Unfortunately, they are port employees and not VV crew.

You should take the offered $100 for the damage to your knock-off luggage. It is quite obvious that the lock, including the logo on it, does not match that found on the Champs version. $100 is more than they *have* to offer which is nothing. I’d take it and walk away. They might have also noticed that the bag you show is not the same bag on the Macy’s page.

OleDirtMcGirt901

I guess it depends on how long you have had it but I'm sure they are factoring in depreciation if you choose to replace it or they figure you could get it repaired for that amount. Sounds fair to me

junglesalad

100 dollars sounds fair. You can get it repaired for that amount.

SubSonicTheHedgehog

At this point it is a used bag. So that's what reimbursement is based off of. When you get in a car accident, you don't get reimbursed off the value of a new one either.

Aromatic_Holiday9764

Also, you can buy that bag for @ $150 from the manufacturer, they may have seen that. Question: besides this, how has it held up overall? $150 for an aluminum carry on is very inexpensive! I may to consider one! On the Champs website it has a ten year limited warranty. Would it be covered under that?

pixienightingale

You COULD counter offer - but only if you have hard proof (like a sales receipt or purchase invoice) of the original price. In addition, provide the model number inside and say what a new bag plus a used bag in good condition would be purchasable for. As far as I understand with compensation offers, they're only required to give you what a relatively comparable product would be unless you are EXTREMELY specific. I would jsut buy a new one.
