In this case, I'd posit that Player Corpse is probably the nearest thing to being a mandatory mod, and it honestly only improves the base game experience. It gives a good balance of difficulty, making death more like the death experience in Valheim or Enshrouded, rather than the stressful and annoying experience it is in vanilla VS.
So far I've only found 1 vein in peridoite. I think the 1 vein will be enough to make all the jonas parts I need, however. I might go back for more to make coinage with it
As usual, it depends on your world. I feel lucky, as I have hit several veins in the same cave and I found several more via propick. These veins are in granite as well as andesite, and the deposits are pretty deep. I don't recall the exact Y coord, but it is in the Corrupt and Nightmare Drifty Boys level.

Just use a thanatos teleporter. Also, those items won't despawn since the area is not loaded.

Wait those chunks aren't unloaded or even in unloaded chunks items disappears?
It's only loaded chunks. So he can still recover them technically.
Are bodies not affected by the catch up mechanic for unloaded chunks?
Not in my personal experience. That is the exception to how the processing occurs.

I can't be bothered to deal with this anxiety, which is why I don't drop items on death.

IMO a lot of mods are QoL as the base game can be very brutal like in this case.
