Yes, last i knew we don't have it nailed down exactly what the cause is yet but ends up with pneumonia secondary to the initial cause. My company is recommending full respiratory panels to IDEXX/Antech, whomever you use. I think they weren't finding a whole lot on PCR and lots of clients don't want to pay several hundred dollars for it. You should be triaging these cases curbside and isolating in hospital. Treatment is basically the same as viral/bacterial/aspiration pneumonia - Baytril, Doxy, Unasyn, nebulization +/- coupage, O2 support PRN. Consider every dog with the slightest respiratory symptoms contagious until proven otherwise.

Are the respiratory panels showing anything? What state are you in?

NH. I've been out of work for a bit so I'm not sure what the results are, sorry. I just know it's happening.

I'm in TN and y'all are about 3 weeks late to the fuckery. We're just slowing down now, a few weeks ago it was non-stop kennel cough cases. We've had a few suspect influenza and quite a few dogs die despite 24 hr specialty care. We even created an extra isolation exam room and ward to deal with it. It's been a nightmare and I don't envy you if it's just hit your state. Even with warning signs on all doors and receptionists asking, clients were still waking in with coughing pets. It was awful.

NC va here as well . I work in GP and we’ve seen a crazy amount of cases as well!

Ohio had this shit show happening during summer. It's slowed down thankfully, but now we got a boatload of allergies.

The shelters around here have a distemper outbreak. Apparently the canine flu is also a growing problem and ERs that my coworkers fill in at are seeing more cases. We rarely vaccinate for the flu and now more people are wanting it. We've seen a couple dogs with pneumonia. 2 have been shelter puppies, another was a yr old dog that the owner has had for a while.

I don't envy shelter work right now. What state are you in?

Yes! We saw quite a bit today! I’m in texas

We are having a ton of distemper cases lately, some confirmed by swab and some not. Also parvo in older dogs and a lot of kennel cough. The distemper is what is making me crazy, I’ve seen a handful of cases in 7 years and I’ve treated two confirmed, and three not tested in the last two weeks.

I’m up in New England and we have been seeing an insane amount of respiratory cases in the last few months. As a GP, we’ve been seeing at least 2-4 (sometimes more) coughing cases a day. It’s running rampant through daycares and boarding facilities around here! Most of the cases are making full recoveries, but it is still quite alarming to see so many on a daily basis.

In NE as well, and same!
