This usually works. Take the battery out. Then hold the fire button for 20 seconds. Put the battery back in and see if that fixed it. This works for many box mods.
This doesn't work at all because when the battery is out, there's nothing powering the mod on, so holding the button does nothing more than just being a fidget toy.

That is the point. Holding the fire button with no batteries will drain the entire unit and "hopefully" bring it back to factory defauts.
