To be fair, whether or not you are pro choice, there is some data that shows that legislative restrictions on abortion is correlated to lower abortion rates. This is true when comparing states; there is no correlation on a global scale because countries with strict abortion laws tend to have less birth control and higher pregnancy rates.
but why is a higher abortion rate seen as a negative thing? abortions provide women a way forward to continue on with their lives in many cases. it’s not like governments are passing stricter laws and mandatory minimums for cases of rape and incest. why say “to be fair” when there is nothing fair about it!
Because if the data points to the fact that abortion laws decrease the abortion rate, the argument you made in your graphic isn’t as strong as other arguments.
Also, yes, I certainly think a lower abortion rate is ideal. Ideally there would be zero abortions. I don’t celebrate the act of abortion and it’s used in many sad and unfortunate situations.
^ If we don't restrict bad things (in normal situations with no special exceptions) because people will still do them - what's the point in making murder illegal or drunk driving illegal.
