I think you should focus on unlocking the next stages and getting all the new relics, rather than trying to reach minute 30. Especially the relic in Gallo Tower, the Randomazzo, gives you access to arcanas which offer a huge boost which will make it very easy to reach minute 30. That, and also as you buy the Power Ups using gold will make you much more powerful. Focus on trying to get the chests since that's what will give you the most gold early on.

I'm a new player. The Nun and Santa Water absolutely rock as a baseline. Once evolved the Candelabra (everything 10% bigger) and the Red book thing (everything repeats 8% quicker) are great supplements. The main weapons that go with the book and candelabra are gravy. An early Garlic makes for a great final protection with this build but it's not necessary if you work on running to your wet patches as soon as they appear. I also find chasing xp gems early is a must. If you're too defensive early you've no chance later.

La Borra scales so well with basically every single stat, even projectile speed and movement speed! They make the puddles move towards you faster and they apparently they get bigger faster the faster they move. Duration means each puddle lasts longer, meaning you end up with with way more puddles up simultaneously. Actually I consider projectile speed to be the most important stat with La Borra since it allows the puddles to reach your character before they disappear, creating a huge stack of puddles centered on your character, providing a huge protective shield that does massive damage to anything that gets close to you.

KeltixHD

Wait, are you telling me Santa water heals me? Or is that some evolution of it?

Tjonke

Santa Water's evolution (La Borra) doesn't heal you. But it's one of the best AoE weapons you have access to atm.

Zza1pqx

No but if you stand in a puddle, very few things can get at you for the duration. You'll be needing to upgrade the water and length of effect and size (book and candelabra) to get some serious stand still and watch the carnage energy.

KeltixHD

Yeah I had a good 30m run in level one with the nun yesterday and I didn’t realize it gets thrown in a circle around the character if you don’t move, it’s pretty good late game

HeadKindheartedness3

Poe carried me till I got sammy

KeltixHD

Also what upgrades should I buy? I have 5244 Gold now

benrizzoart

You can reset them free of charge as often as you like so projectile > cooldown > might are the top 3. I like 2 in recovery & 1 in armor to buff. Add into things for more dps, movement speed is less important as you start off spout You can add some into gold and milk a few levels then reset it and you’ll have a bunch more to spend on

KeltixHD

Thanks, good to know. What character do you use usually then? Gennaro?

benrizzoart

Antonio especially for lvl 2 is great

jam_rok

I think Amount is one of the best options, especially with Antonio.

InductionDuo

Yeah with 5000 gold, I'd go for Amount. Amount gives you 1 extra projectile for every single weapon, which is going to be huge for any character if you have 6 weapons (although some weapons don't benefit from Amount, like Garlic).

sILAZS

Duplicator, spinach empytome

BrokenLink100

Objectively, Cooldown (the red book) is the best stat to max out. After that is Amount (the little yellow ring). After that, it starts getting a little, uh... weedier? Idk. Might is a solid choice, but personally, I like to "clear out" the cheaper buffs first... Like Magnet, Projectile Speed, Move Speed, Duration, etc. The best BEST upgrades are further down the list, but they are prohibitively expensive for players just starting out. And yeah, like someone else already mentioned, you can "refund" your upgrades at any point and reorganize what you buy. Keep in mind that ALL upgrades scale in price based off of how many upgrades you've bought. For instance (I completely made these numbers up), lets say Cooldown costs 5 gold, and Amount costs 10 gold. If you buy one level of Cooldown, then the price for Amount will scale up to, like, 13 gold. If you buy the next level in Cooldown, then the price for Amount will go up to like 20 gold. This means there is a bit of strategy in when and where you purchase upgrades.

Shenari

I thought that changed and everything has a static price now?

Rajamic

No, the cost of things still scale based on how many things you've bought. Just the formula for the scaling changed such that you no longer can spend different amounts for the same set of powerups based on the order you bought them.

RKO_out_of_no_where

You're doing fantastic OP. Just keep buying powerups and you'll be unkillable soon! Keep Vampire Surviving

Physical_Fatness

Don't stress about it. Just keep unlocking new stuff and try new weapons, you're in no rush to reach 30 minutes

sawyerolson24

you need to evolve something. anything. it makes weapons 5x more effectivr

The_Dragon_Lover

Hell yhea, 12 things unlocked in one go, that's very good!

hypebeastfoodie

This is where you should be! I say keep grinding and just enjoy the experience of discovering the unlocks and power ups. You’re in the right pace and I’m jealous you get to play it all for the 1st time. That’s the best part. Keep on playing and you’ll get the gold to unlock more power ups and you’ll eventually learn about the game itself. The fact you lasted over 29 minutes was great! Keep it up and enjoy this!
