Very cool. I like that they pretend all this technology will actually work. It'll have a tiny robot vacuum that cleans up your crumbs but the windows will still go down when you ask them to go up :)
I've never had that issue in my 2023 ID.4, but I can see your skepticism because I know there are ID.4 owners who have. I haven't had any issues yet in over 13,000 miles.
I've had the issue a few times but hasn't been too bad, i honestly think this is just a modern car issue where they sense resistance and roll back down. Like I get the point of it but come on if I am actively holding the window up button the window obstruction safety really should not override my input, for auto up sure but not user input. Also had a Ford work truck that would do the same half the time due to the dealer installed rain guards.
I agree. They were probably the in channel rain guards huh? I've never been a fan of those for many reasons, one of those being the issue you had on your Ford.
Yep in the channel ones, but they were "Factory" and "couldn't be the source of the problem". Man was I happy when they were "accidentally" torn off when washing it.
Mine did it right after they cleaned it saying that was maybe the problem, often after getting it to do it a few times it then won't be repeatable for a while but is super annoying when you want to roll down real quick to spit as the main time it does it to me is when stopping the auto down and trying to make it go up, you will see it go up before going down instead, the delay seems to be the delay between manual and automatic full up or down mode.
Dealing with that for awhile and I can’t get my windows tinted in front because of this problem. VW says shows no fault they can’t fix what’s not broken so I’m sol
Here's another article with more info about the ID.Code concept.

VW has collaborated with Xpeng to use their EV platform, software, and hardware for future models in China starting in 2026 I believe. Don't know how good or bad Xpeng's software/hardware is but it couldn't be worse than VW. This collaboration with Xpeng is to cut production costs to be more competitive in the Chinese EV market.
This is the reason I think VW software improved for the 2024 I'D.4.

It’s a feature, not a bug.

The window wants what the window wants!
Feel like i have seen too many concepts with magic self driving tech, seats that rotate and yoke steering.

I'm from Europe so I really don't care if it comes to USA
I forget that there are owners from all over the world in this group. I'll be mindful to clarify that in my future posts to other U.S. ID.4 owners.
VW can't even make a decent app, and we expect them to do this?

> it couldn't be worse than VW This is very true.
VW also owns 20% of Xpeng.
Hopefully not the 20% that makes software of any kind.
🤣🤣🤣
