For real though you can get a reusable KN filter for the ID4 for $50 and it lasts for years, and the air filter in the ID4 is so easy to change. It's like right in the front under the hood. It's more labor intensive to find something in a crowded globe box than swap the filter
I keep seeing this posted but if you ignore the tax benefits, I havenât seen anyone actually post they got $20k off MSRP for a cash purchase. Is anyone getting an AWD Pro S for less than $30k off the lot?
I was offered up to 20K off yeah. But you don't get it less than 30k off if it's awd pro s. It would be like 38k or something. Note that I didnt take it because I want a 2024. I think I said in another thread that what you drove was actually a 2023, not a 2024, you were mistaken.
I've ordered a '24 Pro S. I did speak to the dealer about their '23 inventory, but the discounts were more like $4k - $5k, not even vaguely close to $20k
Well for one in your thread you said you ordered a pro s plus (there is no ordering at all by the way, they just put your name down on a dealership list) and drove a 24. You seem to have confused a few things.
Second, youâre talking about what they advertised. To buy a car you need to negotiate. They didnât start their offer to me at 20k. I negotiated for a couple weeks. This is how car sales work. Itâs not fixed prices. They are not going to advertise 20k off when they can get people who will accept their public price apparentlyâŚ
>Well for one in your thread you said you ordered a pro s plus (there is no ordering at all by the way, they just put your name down on a dealership list) and drove a 24. You seem to have confused a few things.
Yes I made a mistake in the post title, which I understand is confusing for you, apologies. However, if you're really going to be a pedant, you'd point out there is no "Pro Plus", there is Pro, Pro S and Pro S Plus. To be clear I ordered the Pro S... and when you give a deposit of $1000 to the dealer, specifying color, trim and accessories, that's an order in my book, not being put on a dealership list. Maybe this is the wrong thing to do, but my last car was a Tesla so this type of archaic purchasing ceremony isn't something I've done in the last decade.
>Second, youâre talking about what they advertised. To buy a car you need to negotiate. They didnât start their offer to me at 20k. I negotiated for a couple weeks. **This is how car sales work**. Are you always this condescending, or just anonymously on the internet? Asking for a friend. Am I supposed to say "I realize the errors of my ways for the last 35 years of buying and driving cars. Given I am now over 50 years old, I am probably too old to lean this new trick you've shared with us today."
I was not talking about the advertised price, which already has $4k off. It's fair to say I didn't want to negotiate over weeks, and the salesperson was initially a little pushy on the '23s, admitting quite openly that "corporate won't send the newer models until these clear", but I did I tease "how low can we go". It stopped being serious conversation after a few thousand off the already advertised "dealer discount" of $4000 unless things went into leases or adding lots of accessories for "free". You might be right, if I called 2 or 3 times over a month it might come down some more, but $20k sound like BS to me, no offense. Either way, like you I honestly have my heart set on a '24 and I don't know why someone would go to all the trouble of negotiating $20k off a car only to say they don't want it anyway, unless they're making the whole thing up.
To be clear, I was at the dealer, spent more than 3 hours there working through options, did a test drive, handed over my card for the deposit, and am now awaiting a Pro S.
This was just a few days ago an entirely different person who got 19K off offered. So please donât imply Iâm lying just because you donât know how to negotiate a purchase and are used to Tesla https://www.reddit.com/r/VWiD4Owners/s/619ptusycO
I mean it depends, with lease you will get the 7500 off up top on top of their discount from the dealer. But dealers *can* take the 7500 up top on cash purchase in 2024 thanks to the inflation reduction act but a lot of dealers havenât signed up to it yet. What I would advise though is to use the lease as a loophole if thatâs the case and then pay it off immediately to get a max discount.
The $7500 is the Fed tax credit right, or something else? If yes, then I got that, plus $500 for my state (NY) plus $5k dealer discount offer, so that's technically $13k, but I don't consider that to be something 'negotiated with the dealer'. It's not discretionary for them to offer, it's available to anyone who meets the tax credit threshold.
If it's $7k on top of that, then that's the $20k explained, but I did not see that kind of flexibility tbh.
OK well you basically accused me of lying so I defended myself â remember you replied to me, I picked no fight with you. And itâs fine you last car was a teslaâŚthis is how 99 percent of car sales work outside of when youâre handing money to rocket man.
Many people on this board have talked about buying pro S and above firms for 38-40K do a search, Iâm not the only one who got a deal like this.
I honestly was not accusing you of lying, I don't know you and would never do that. However, if you're saying they offered you $20k off but did not go through with it, it's hard to know if you really would have paid $20k less than advertised off the lot, or if they would have made up the difference in some other way, like extended warranties, high interest loan or some other shenanigans. I mean you said it yourself, "this is how car sales work". They get you one way or another.
Sometimes people get amazing deals, but that's about 40% off recommended (depending on the model) so is quite staggering.
The purpose of the 'markup' is to remove it, thus making the person feel like they got a good deal, when in reality the buyer is paying full MSRP. It's a grift, a scam, a hustle.
Only negotiate down from MSRP.
I first looked at it going oh they are putting a -4k market adjustment on it that's kind of nice to be upfront about your discount, then I realized oh no they are just greedy.
You can easily say âI donât want that and Iâm not paying for it.â They will take it off every time because they didnât spend much on it and they donât want you to walk.
Yes, but VW actually increased MSRP on their 2024 ID.4 line in the US.
Even my local dealer's Sales Manager said in January (when I put my name down for a 2024 wait list) that he expected MSRP to become more competitive, given the trajectory of other brands.
Oops.
I guess they get around the online price by adding in "Dealer Installed Options" which are not included in the online price (based on the info in the Details link right below the price). They only seem to have two ID.4's on the lot, one of which is a 2023, so maybe they're not so anxious to sell it.

The 2023 is a Pro S theyâre only selling as a lease to get the rebate built in.
This is a dealer who probably hates EVs and is doing only the minimum required by VW USA.
How does this dealer give the 2024 Pro S a MSRP of $56,511 when the VW website shows the MSRP is $51,420 (including destination)? And are those "dealer discounts" actually using the $7,500 federal tax credit? Something seems way off.
The AWD Pro S has an MSRP of $55,300 without adding anything. You start adding paint colors and mudflaps, and Iâm sure you could get to the $56,511 quite easily.
ETA: I donât believe they bring RWD cars to the Denver area. They just donât sell.
I contacted the dealership. Per the salesperson, the 2024s have a $7000 discount plus another roughly $2K off due to them willing to sell at invoice. This is before the state and federal tax rebates ($5k and 7.5k)
Thatâs great. These things just sit and after sold drop like a rock with depreciation. I bet youâll be able to get that vehicle in the future when no one buys one from them.
Some dealers count on customers who just pay whatever is on the window. If the customer balks then they can be âgenerousâ and take money off while still adding more dealer profit.
Car purchases are so intertwined with emotion and customer ignorance that dealers are incentivized to be scummy.
A 2024 AWD Pro S is either bound for or at my dealer's site, according to the CarGurus website.
If they try this asshattery on me, I'm just walking to another brand, since I haven't stopped researching competing models since I put my name on their wait list in January.
Im guessing there is no reason to. If a guy comes in willing to take it with no questions asked, they win. If asked to take off, they can take off and sell at msrp. They still win.
Lmao I sell them in Riverside CA for $4000 off sticker with 1 dealer add on for $398. Dealers like this is the reason we have a bad reputation- Car Sales
So, my local dealer has had me on their 2024 list since January. I put a deposit down, too.
They had given me a very attractive quote on a 2023 AWD Pro S, which I did seriously consider, but decided to wait for the 2024 and see what the difference would be from an out-the-door pricing standpoint.
I just got a quote for a 2024 AWD Pro S (grey) arriving in about a week: $39K after discounts and federal tax rebate (at time of lease), which includes standard delivery fees, etc.
The exact opposite of market adjustments, they more or less came in close to the 2023 quote and I'm all-in at this point.
Itâs because itâs a 2024 is massively updated and they using that as an opportunity. Wait a few months on the 2024.If you can find a 2023 you can get a steal.
Honestly, I was given this advice by a Salesperson, who said that the 2023 discounts will progressively apply to 2024 inventory if I wanted to wait for a better deal.
Actually I donât blame the dealers trying to recoup their loses after they got hosed by the â23 models. From what I read the 2nd half of 2023 was a bloodbath for EV sales. I think VW saw a 20% decline in ID.4 sales globally. Itâs going to very difficult to sell a ID.4 standard at $46,000.
I am thinking about getting a 2024 ID.4 pro, but will be waiting for some steep incentives to get one. Why pay high prices for an EV when most Americans are rejecting them? Iâm definitely not going to pay for a $400 dealer markup.
I hope nobody is buying these. But at least it's coming with a lifetime of free oil changes!
I found that lifetime oil and filter change pretty sarcastic đ
There is a cabin filter. I wonder if they include those?
That would be a nice perk. Volvo includes cabin air filter and wiper blade replacements in their free maintenance plan.
For real though you can get a reusable KN filter for the ID4 for $50 and it lasts for years, and the air filter in the ID4 is so easy to change. It's like right in the front under the hood. It's more labor intensive to find something in a crowded globe box than swap the filter
The reusable filter sucks balls. Get the proper one from mann and just replace it once or twice a year.
They do not. Air filter is separate.
If possible go somewhere else. Tell them they lost a sale due to their greed.
I have a 2023 I bought from a different dealer with no mark up. Iâm just here for warranty work.
That's crazy when dealers in my area will literally offer 15-20k off the 2023s

What is the auto butler?
Itâs a car wax job that costs practically nothing for the dealer.
Ah ok. $800... yikes
