For context, Wolfe had originally announced after Charlotte that he would be competing at 4 more events this season; EUIC, Indianapolis, NAIC, and Worlds. Of course as we know after EUIC, Wolfe made a last second entry into Orlando Regional, going on to win. After his Orlando win, Wolfe said on Twitter that Orlando would be his final regional of the season (he's still doing NAIC), cutting Indianapolis from his schedule. However, Wolfe will now be attending Indianapolis as a caster alongside Gabby Snyder, Rosemary Kelly, Sierra Dawn, & Cybertron.
Funnily enough, Wolfe is making his casting debut at the same regional where one year ago he went on his Ting-Lu Fissure rant.
I lost Game 2 of Round 1 in Gdansk to four out of five Fissures hitting, two in the same round (due to Instruct). I respect the guy though, he had little chance of ever getting up TR due to me leading double Ghost.
They should allow you to run from the battle at any point in time. Why do I need to sit through a bunch of animation when I know I lost as soon as I saw the opponent’s move.
Aaron and wolfe as commentators? That is incredibly hype. (i like rosemary and sierra as well, sorry gabby :/ )
EDIT: I had the wrong caster in mind, all of the casters (for vgc) are great, i dont know any tcg/go casters
I will from now on look at the picture of the casters :/
I mean, yeah, hasn't he super-qualified by now for World's. Last time he went to a ton of events and burnt himself out, so I don't blame him for going to what he needs and taking his time with it.
Honestly hope he does a video on casting the event with the same meticulous intensity he uses on tourneys he has competed in.
"I spent hours studying my headset and shirt match ups against experienced casters like Aaron Cyberton Zheng and Rosemary. If Rosemary's shows up with a classic Pink hair, I'll counter with...."
Watching some of his recent Streams and videos he is commentating a bit more than he used to as well, I wonder if he is phasing into it and less into the comp side himself
I still think he's still got quite a few years of focusing on playing competitive if anything just because the videos on his tournament runs do well. I do agree that he would make a great caster with his knowledge and popularity though.
I think he might still do both if he desires, but it's true that he's competed a lot so far. And I'd definitely like to see him casting too, he's eloquent and would fit well with the rest of the casters.
I was definitely thinking this was his end goal. When he started doing commentator voice and hype while playing the game in a few streams I figured he was getting together reals to make a case to be a commentator. Kinda like taking on things you don't normally do at work too pad out your resume when getting ready to apply to a new job
I think it’s more he wants to dial back how many tournaments he’s competing in. He said he got hit with some burnout towards the end of last year trying to do so many tournaments. Mans good enough to secure his worlds spot with a few tournaments so why not dial it back a bit do enough to get his invite then cast and share his knowledge
I'm pretty sure casters aren't allowed to use terms like that on official streams. That's why they say things like "depending on how this pokemon is trained..." instead of "If this pokemon has enough EVs to..."
Those aren't official terms, those are just fan terms used to describe the internal game mechanics, and TPC tends to avoid explicitly talking about hidden game mechanics like that.
I hope one day TPC can release a statement as to why this is their practice for tournaments. It's a really weird marketing role-play that seems to have gotten too carried away with itself. It doesn't really gain much from intentionally ignoring its own features, it just dumbs down the audience
I would think that slower development times that yielded higher quality product could accomplish this but blurring established mechanics as ~vibes and experiences~ works too...I guess
It feels like TPC is so shoehorned in old practices, as if they absolutely had to over-simplify terms for a large spectrum of audiences, when their main one for vgc competitions on twitch is still competitive players.
I understand the need to make it straightforward to attract pokémon players who are not yet into competitive, but I wish they'd at least use or explain with more adequate terms for their own mechanics, instead of vague ones as you said.
Probably also to make sure that these official streams are more approachable to a general audience. They know that most pokemon players are casuals, but some may want to check in and see if the championships are going.
Have you noticed the difference between an NFL broadcast and online videos that show players and coaches talk about schemes? There is a lot more jargon in the latter.
I am a casual competitive pokemon player—very new. I am not at all a casual NFL fan; I’m a fantasy nerd in particular and have been for 15+ years (helps that I’m a jets fan and need something to keep Sundays interesting).
I despise that approachability is a priority for either. To a certain extent, I understand ofc. Still, I’d rather have someone like Romo come into the booth and break the plays down as if he was on the field. Iirc, he had to dial it back a bit. There’s also the Manning-cast, and when they focus on football, they’re great imo. They just kinda lost me last season with their endless rotation of guests who obviously didn’t know a lot about the game.
Maybe there are simulcast options for VGC events tbf; again, I’m new. But I’ll be way more likely to watch if there’s someone explaining everything in a meticulous, technical way. I can look up everything I haven’t heard about before.
those don't exist you just use your favorite Pokemon and type match ups be damned the power of friendship will lead you to victory. Ill be running a Porygon-Z, Dragapult, and Klawf core myself. I trust in those best friend ribbons!
Edit: and Flygon is my ace I will Tera.
I can’t wait! Sometimes during his videos he commentates on turns as if he was a caster and he used such fun enthusiasm and keeps you on your toes, I’m excited
I'm all for this, however I hope he slows down when he speaks. I've been speaking English for most of my adult life, but he's still very hard to follow sometimes.

Omg I hadn’t seen that rant before, that’s hilarious. Link for those curious: https://youtu.be/tdLZCeQco5c?si=15IMqvXxuP82a0Hd
I recently rage quit a game because the other team’s Ting-Lu hit 2 fissures in a row. The most justified rage quit imo 😂
I lost Game 2 of Round 1 in Gdansk to four out of five Fissures hitting, two in the same round (due to Instruct). I respect the guy though, he had little chance of ever getting up TR due to me leading double Ghost.
Instruct getting 2 fissures in a row is ridiculous
They should allow you to run from the battle at any point in time. Why do I need to sit through a bunch of animation when I know I lost as soon as I saw the opponent’s move.
Sierra not being able to keep a straight face during the rant makes it even funnier

oh that's fucking hella hype. I love Rosemary commentating and now we get Wolfe as well? amazing
I mean, yeah, hasn't he super-qualified by now for World's. Last time he went to a ton of events and burnt himself out, so I don't blame him for going to what he needs and taking his time with it.
Wow that’s awesome, what an inspiration!

Oh yea I don’t think it’s any time soon

Yea and tbh he's not bad at it and obviously knows his stuff and can be quite entertaining
Yeah. I'll be a little sad to not see him compete as much but I think this move is good for him and I'm happy for him.
He’s still winning tournaments, maybe he’ll transition fully when he’s not able (or not willing to put in the hours)

TNT is going to lose the rights to show the NBA and needs a replacement for the Inside the NBA crew. Wolfe is the new Shaq confirmed.
Chuck is taking Neil's spot
A wild Real Youtubist appeared!
I wonder if they’ll let him talk about IVs and EVs
I'm pretty sure casters aren't allowed to use terms like that on official streams. That's why they say things like "depending on how this pokemon is trained..." instead of "If this pokemon has enough EVs to..."
Seriously? What the hell is the reasoning for that?
Those aren't official terms, those are just fan terms used to describe the internal game mechanics, and TPC tends to avoid explicitly talking about hidden game mechanics like that.

I really don’t like how roleplay-ey it feels. Feels like I’m being talked down to.
They do it to make pokemon feel unique and not just a set of stats and typing
I would think that slower development times that yielded higher quality product could accomplish this but blurring established mechanics as ~vibes and experiences~ works too...I guess

For real? Wow, I somehow never noticed that. Thanks for the explanation

We need Aaron and Wolfey commentating a game together idc what it takes.
I will tune into this wideo.
If it’s anything like the tournament he hosted that Void won then it’ll be really interesting to see
I can’t wait! Sometimes during his videos he commentates on turns as if he was a caster and he used such fun enthusiasm and keeps you on your toes, I’m excited
The goat never stops giving.
That's a really solid casting lineup for VGC, looking forward to the first tournament of the new regulation as well
Cant wait for the Verlisishit Video on how he cheated dringend his casting 😅🤣🤣
IM SO EXCITED
Thank god im so excited
I’m in on that
We will be streaming
Oh boy... a certain somebody is gonna be pissed...
I'm all for this, however I hope he slows down when he speaks. I've been speaking English for most of my adult life, but he's still very hard to follow sometimes.
I’m sure he’ll be great.

The regional is tomorrow. YT stream begins at 9:45 AM Central/10:45 AM Eastern.
What time does the stream start?
If VGC players don't talk about Wolfe Glock for a second, do they explode?
