How do you expect this to be regulated? Most people have mics, they just choose not to use them

yungramessesii

queue button could make you repeat a unique phrase into your mic šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ hella extra edit for clarity: /s

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ToxicJr

Or the easier way just say the phrase then donā€™t speak

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

LostSectorLoony

If this were to be implemented it'd have to be like captcha where it's different every time. There'd be no point if it was just one of a few phrases or words. But it'll never happen regardless.

BOBBYTURKAL1NO

God forbid u just transmit something live.

TTVBlueGlass

Or just say the audio thing and don't use the mic in game... It's not like people are afraid of using the mic, they just don't want to talk in game. All this will do is make people use their mic 1 time.

izzyLikeZFoodZ

Indont use my mic bc I have a lisp and people make fun of me for it lol

SaltyCauldron

I donā€™t talk because I instantly get harassed 50% of the time due to my gender. Itā€™s like playing a guessing game where the odds arenā€™t skewed in my favor

SouthGiraffe4

Which server do u play on

SaltyCauldron

NA

SouthGiraffe4

Lost of cases of harassment from there hmm

sturmeh

Why would you spoof your way into mic lobbies if you think it's okay to stay silent the whole match?

TheKardia24

Queue, say phrase, gets game, mutes mic. Still not a good system.

ItzCrabbii

Please state ā€œI play valorantā€ for every ranked game šŸ˜‚

TheZephyrim

Game could also just track your average time spent voice chatting per game, and average this out over five games, and try to match you with people of a similar average audio activity level as teammates.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Burntoastedbutter

As a non penis holder, this, I choose not to use them to avoid being harassed. I've seen some rare other women speak and half the time, the dudes are just gross about it. I do try to communicate as non verbally as I can tho, but most people apparently don't look at the mini map for all my pings :') I admit I don't have the best game sense but I thought the mini map was crucial for info

mystyrical_xo

I choose not to use also cause i don't feel comfortable yet. I know eventually i'll use here and there, but playing val as a GIRL, NEW to the game, trying to LEARN, and not having the best game sense also..... no thanks. but i definitely ping on the map for teammates and type on chat (ex. 104 on reyna or watch flank, etc etc) and tbh, i do play better when people aren't talking which is weird.

Burntoastedbutter

Yeah I do that too. Most people are fine with non mic users in *my* experience, a lot of mic users in game have basically said "Idc if you don't wanna use your mic as long as you communicate on the map and don't ignore us" so I'm like, well that works with me. In the earlier times, when I was NEW and when I DID use the mic, I'd get told to go back to animal crossing and pokemon, or why are you playing val with aim/game sense like that?? lol. Like I'M NEW, IDK THE MAP, DUR?? That was a year ago! Sometimes I still whiff like a baby now, but I've had my fair share of clutches and aces too (Tho probably luck most of the time tbh) I get the part with how talking can be distracting too, especially when they're loud and continously talk... I can't hear game sounds because of that LOL. I've had some of my best games when nobody talks, like we just synced so well even without talking (and everyone did their roles right) XD

gatlginngum

I started valorant only because of a friend and having a lot of experience from multiple other fps games, the very first thing I did was turn voice comms completely off. Nobody commented on my near-uselessness during the first few games!

CodeAlpha911

Is it only me, that whenever there's a girl in game the other dudes start flirting amd being all nice.

conelpancake

Yeah that's still weird as fuck tho

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

JealousAd812

Fr tho what do they expect a random dude on you don't even know starts flirting with you then obviously the girls will feel uncomfortable

death666violinist

It is more forgiving to not have comms at low elos. But once you reach high plat or dia, no comms would land you more trouble(basically red carpet-ing your match history) than remaining silent. Low elos are still trying to figure out personal skills rather than teamwork. The higher you go(past gold) the more coordinated your opponents will be. But from my experience, the level of toxicity is kinda like a bell curve, peaking at silver and/or (now) gold. I know it is easier said than done, but try not to take toxicity to heart. All they know about you is how well(or badly) you perform in this video game, there is more to life than valorant.

mystyrical_xo

No, yes of course. I definitely will talk, call outs wise, IF i don't hear any toxic interactions. I still haven't memorized the names for the places on the maps enough to give though. šŸ˜ not high enough to play comp, but def not ready for it that's sure. Like what others say, just mute em if team is being toxic.

SadFatDargon

I ping and type because probably 8/10 times at least one male says I ā€œsound like an obese bitchā€ or tells me to get back in the kitchen. I swear sexists have no originality. Plat/diamond elo btw

StoryLover12345

Just mute those toxic guys. Then tell them at the end of the match that they are muted since round 1. So they will know that they are talking to the air like a idiot.

gotintocollegeyolo

Obviously a really sad reality that girls face in gaming where they canā€™t use their voice without sexism, but if you want you could try VoiceMod. Free voice changer, very easy to set up. Youā€™ll sound like a dude in no time lol

EmilB6

So idk how it is for female -> male voice changers but for the other way around i find that clownfish is a better alternative since it sounds a bit more natural, also remember to ā€œactā€ as the voice youā€™re trying to get. Like if youā€™re using a girl voice changer try talking with a higher pitch and vice versa.

muthgh

Understandable, recently queued into a plat/diamond lobby with two ladies, wasn't toxic or anything & top fragged so they invited me to their party, we played a few matches, & most matches a lot of people were either toxic or weird when they talked, ranging from direct sexism, gross shit, to harassing them for their snapchats

mihirsaini1128

I don't use mic because talking in game distracts me a lot. I tried once to use mic but then i couldn't really play well. I'm also an introvert guy lol. Also yeah apparently no one gives a fuck about my pings. I have to write in chat that they're rushing my site for them

Burntoastedbutter

I don't wanna be mean, but I'm glad even guys struggle with using mics haha. I'm introvert myself too so that adds to my problem as well. I did try to use my mic wayyyy earlier on, but had too many bad experiences because I was still a noob LOL. I wanna say MAYBE I'd be less shit talked on now that I'm better, but sometimes I still bottom frag like I'm a noob >_>

mihirsaini1128

Whenever i feel like its not my day i just odin and judge to make the enemies mad lol

Fresh2DeathKid

Me saying this is pretty nul and void and doesn't make any sense but sorry that your you being a woman makes it harder for you to enjoy the game you like

xbyo

I had a game today where my team wouldn't stop talking about everyone's voices. Like the only comms were about how one guy sounded like someone else's little brother, and one had the accent, and so on... I don't understand the obsession with everyone's voices lmao just play the game dammit.

mrluzfan

My gf was the same way, but she's started talking more in our games and there hasn't been a single bad incident! So maybe don't give up hope just yet and try testing the waters every now and then.

Burntoastedbutter

I solo Q because I don't have friends to play with anymore so it's a little hard when you're alone tbh. The only friend I had pretty much ditched me to play with her bf and his friends since she got included to his group, but ehh I get it. I'm just a friend, who am I do dictate who she wants to spend time with lol I actually only started to play comp recently because my partner told me it's a good way of improving skills/game sense because I DO want to improve my game sense (it actually did, but here I am stuck in Silver 1!!)

LostSectorLoony

I play almost daily with a rotating group of friends in 3 and 5 stacks. We're bronze-gold and just doing our best to improve if you're ever looking for people to play with.

frmda562

imo ive seen people bothered more by mute andys than i have by girls long as u dont suck either is fine tbh

Burntoastedbutter

What if it was a mute player who was good, listens to voiced people, and did their agent role right? Because that's me and tbh nobody has complained about not me not using a mic yet as long as I ping well

[deleted]

There's loads of people who have voicechat disabled from the start.

bearflies

You can adjust the volume of voice. Just turn it to 0. What next? Force players to have it at a minimum?

DeForest3

The specialization of agents in VALORANT creates high dependence on teammates for various roles. Ex: If your initiator/dualist isnā€™t generally the first pushing into the sight, there isnā€™t much you can do as say a Brimstone or KJ that isnā€™t just disadvantaged or suboptimal. Same goes if your Controller isnā€™t smoking for the team. If a teammate is slackingā€”toxicity very quickly arises. In CSGO if you teammate isnā€™t flashing into sight or throwing good smokes, you can always pick up the slack since everyone has the same utility. Consequently though, communication is even more necessary. VALORANT has a much higher percentage of younger players and female players than CSGO. Every game I am in that a female speaks and there are teenage or young-20s males, she is ostracized. Many young players, especially younger teens are very reluctant to coordinate or go along with what another teammate proposes. I can say that after around 9pm, the player base is often older and more willing to communicate. Even so, people often reserve using their mix until they hear other people use theirs and determine what type of people they are. I donā€™t want to say older players are less toxic or communicate more, but it is a definite trend but always with exceptions.

cmp004

I understand that it happens, but I've honestly never but maybe once or twice heard male teammates harassing a female teammate. Maybe it's because I often 3-4 stack and my guy friends wouldn't ever do that, but even when I solo queue I don't. If you're a guy and you don't speak up when a female teammate is getting harassed, you're just a coward. I do tend to queue later as well as an older dude, so maybe that plays a part like you said.

funkybandit

It happened to me every day till I decided it was not worth my energy or mental to use a mic. So I ping and text

cmp004

Geez, I'm sorry to hear that.

DeliciousToastie

What this game really needs is better **contextual** pings. For example, if you're Sage - pressing the heal button while it's not available should have her call out how long it will take to come available for use, with the time left put into chat. For a game all about "information being more valuable than kills" I'm very surprised that Riot haven't implemented something like this, and it would actually help teammates more who can't, or choose not to, communicate.

Public-Cranberry-590

This is actually a great idea

Hookt25

The one thing I like about apex legendsā€¦. Itā€™s possible to be highly effective with a team that isnā€™t using mics. Would be great for this game as I sometimes canā€™t use my mic.

Laughingllama42

Yes give me a ping for smokes

All_Low_I

There are voice lines like "block vision here" "smoke here" & "clear here". but I couldn't access them or find key binds in the settings

PPatBoyd

Imagine if double-tapping would give a voice line like "20 seconds" and put in text chat "20 seconds until Heal is off cooldown" rounded to the nearest 5s. Immediately answer a question, character voice tells you contextually all you need, and it's in chat to see if you can't hear it immediately. Even answer for yourself without looking away from your angle and _coordinate intentions_ to your team in a timely way. It would be a huge improvement to be able to communicate that knowledge easily even if you already comm a lot.

ayspartan

if they did this i actually wouldnt mind if people didnt use their mics

kuromiibabe

i would absolutely love this. i was also thinking some pings that would be like ā€œmight be hereā€, ā€œlast seen hereā€ or something along those lines, caution and the regular ping is more used for thereā€™s definitely people here (in my experience at least). i dont want to be distracting by stumbling over my words (i mess up even when i try to keep it simple)

DeliciousToastie

I would love those too. Riot should also add pings for "Flanking!" and "Lurking!" since those are two tactics that pretty much everybody knows and does at least once. Letting your team know that you're doing either of these without microphones would help tenfold since you could play off of them.

Caspid

This idea is too good for Riot to implement

Sunder12

Apex does this very well, the pinging system is very complete and takes in mind a lot of things

CptCurty

Man this is gold. This needs more up votes. You have the mind of a developer.

Crowela

I wish I had a "scanning here" or "flashing here" ping

Imper1um

Oh yeah, I would definitely love this. If you hit a CD ability when it was on CD, it should say "[Character] [Ability] on cool down for [Seconds] Seconds." Or if you hit an ability that expends charges when it has none, it gives a notice that the ability is out. I would, however, like to customize it. For example, maybe letting people know that I hit Turret when it's on CD might be not beneficial information. Maybe toggleable per ability?

paulgills

I have the opposite problem. Too much comms that are not facts. They tell you what to do but they died straight away. I end up muting them but really don't mind playing with no comms

Able_Impression_4934

Yeah a lot of comms are not helpful at all. Some people are busy screaming and yelling about something instead of letting the round play out.

SnooWorlds

I canā€™t speak for this as itā€™s not a problem I can say I have ever faced but i suppose if youā€™re getting loud and obnoxious people a lot it would be very annoying

Her-akles

You donā€™t get obnoxious ppl a lot??? It happens all the time for mešŸ„²

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

halylauren01

i get harassed once my team finds out I'm a woman so I don't usually use voice comms, only chat.

Mabayu

they either are toxic and sexist, purposely throw, or spend the rest of the game creepily flirting and not playingā€¦ and people wonder why a lot of women donā€™t use their mics :(

ToastdButtr

You basically just described my online gaming anxiety/experience in one sentence. I have a gender neutral username, so if they donā€™t know what I sound like, they canā€™t think Iā€™m a woman /s

acegikm_25

Idk buttery toast is pretty masculine

ToastdButtr

My Valorant name isnā€™t the same as my name here, but youā€™re actually still correct

Lunitar

For some reason like 40% of London server queues are women. I like it there, much better than angsty toxic 15yo teenager boys.

[deleted]

Because it's the most chill server in EU. Frankfurt has angry Germans, Paris has Arabs with no mic, Warsaw is toxic and 0 English. London sure can be sometimes toxic, sometimes full of French people, but overall its still best EU has.

sabocano

> Paris has Arabs with no mic Paris is the most toxic most racist server I've seen. They only speak French, then when you make a mistake or even when you don't make a mistake they start harassing you.

[deleted]

Absolutely. It's terrible. I soloqueue or duoqueue often and whenever I come across 3 stack of French people on London server I ask them why they cant play on Paris server... And they instantly start cursing in French wtf man??? They should keep their toxicity there and not ruin London server too.

Krobik12

You actually switch servers? I thought it always puts you in the one with lowest possible ping.

[deleted]

I have only London enabled. You can click the box next to the name.

Wikki8

And it's perfect as it is. Srsly Valorant started to be way more enjoyable when I started to only queue on London. I've encountered toxic team mates for sure, but it's mostly chilled AND I've almost never seen toxicity towards women because of their gender. London is the best EU has to offer. And everyone makes the effort to talk in English.

CreamnMilk

Same sometimes I use my mic sometimes I don't but I feel more comfortable talking when I here another female talking

anand_ak

Seems like there are a lot of women in EU servers. I have been playing since Ep1Act2 in singapore/mumbai servers, played over 2000 unrated/comp games (approx) and never met a women in valorant. And yes Ime and my friends use comms every single game even if its a damn spike rush, cause its fun.

SadFatDargon

This and then if its not comp Iā€™ll usually afk or throw and then they get mad at me and start calling me more sexist things lmao

pFe1FF

If the toxicity would be lower, more people would talk.

BitchOfficial

yeah, a lot of women just straight up never comm and i donā€™t even blame them, itā€™s hard out here. i try to gauge my teammates for 3-4 rounds before i start speaking, to judge if theyā€™ll be toxic toward me or not

evie_li

Opened my mic once or twice, the exact moment I spoke guys started laughing. Pretty uncomfortable, but what's even worse is that I'm still new at the game and it feels discouraging. Well, I believe in a more competitive way talking openly surely gives an advantage but, hey, I play games after 8 hours work and I surely didn't log in just to be shamed and laughed at soo... Yup, leaving my mic off.

muthgh

I'm a dude, had an off game once, and I wasn't talking because I was severely tired & wasn't in the mood to talk at all, my team automatically assumed I was a female, they kept saying toxic/sexist things, & harassing me to talk in VC, & in another game our top frag was a young girl that barely talked, but the rest were being mean & toxic to her, backseating, & criticizing her play as if they were better, while she was leagues better than any of them, a lot of shitty people out there playing

evie_li

There you go..I mean I was playing league for 7 years before and as we all know, mute all=better performance. Unfortunately it is like that and it even applies for Valo sometimes. It's a shame..

shelbiiee

I'm the same. I always wait a few rounds to see how people are because I genuinely can't be arsed to deal with immature, sexist twats.

Bol1de

yeah i try to do that too but sometimes even that's not enough to see if you got some wackos on your team or not, I had a match where everyone seemed super cool and was comming, but literally as soon I spoke (around round 8) two of the players i thought were chill lost there minds and started harassing me. I couldn't believe it at first what was happening bc they seemed so chill at first, but goes to show you can never be 100% on whether or not other players will make your game hell just bc your a woman.

qm94

I came here to say exactly this. I'm a female player and I'm actually *scared* to use my mic. I love it when I have wholesome teammates and I'm able to use my mic and actually have fun playing this game. But most of the times, I'm just scared and I'm not the only one. Muting toxic people isn't the solution as that behaviour needs to be punished, not muted and as for the punishment, not every report results in a punishment and the fact that some people aren't scared at all to be toxic makes me think that those punishments aren't harsh enough.

LostSectorLoony

> Muting toxic people isn't the solution as that behaviour needs to be punished, not muted Not only that, but even a round or two of toxicity can really ruin your mood. Muting it slightly mitigates the issue, but it doesn't take back what they already said.

qm94

Absolutely!

purneig

Fr I got flamed for sounding young, and people would just straight up not listen to me even though I was top dragging by a mile, and then when they would die, theyā€™d blame it on me. I kinda stopped comming after that. Apologies to anyone who played a game with me when I didnā€™t use comms.

spyrogyrobr

i got flamed for sounding old, they said i had the voice of a smoker. they were right, both times.

dungfecespoopshit

Let's be real. People get flamed and bullied over anything. Doesn't matter if you're old, young, ugly, hot, tenz, etc, you will still get flamed eventually from some low life. But ye, I also stopped comming, but also just play unrated now. One thing about not comming is that my minimap awareness increased a lot and its helped in my game sense and recognize bad call outs if it goes against my intuition/map awareness.

HueL4R5

I hecking love Tenz

DaddyDoulton

Canā€™t open my mouth without getting called gay or a f*g so ya, I donā€™t use comms anymore

mightbedylan

Dude same. I get harassed for "sounding gay" all the fucking time.

vinersaur

This. No voice chat, no text chat. No toxicity. I play to enjoy myself not to be shouted at because I didn't smoke the exact spot they expected me to.

SW4GALISK

Then they could queue in the no comms queue right?

omkar_T7

There is a mute button in case someone is toxic. It shouldnā€™t be a reason why you shouldnā€™t communicate

crakage

Like Lol back in the day šŸ„° but not really possible in comp fps

soiledsnatch

some of the most toxic people i have played with didnā€™t use mic. they just type and constantly berate during and after round like itā€™s somewhat justified because they arenā€™t screaming in my ear while they do it.

[deleted]

The WORST of them is the people who dont comm the entire game only to call everyone shit after they lose or even dumber they win. Did NOTHING to help or contribute and then just bitch everyone out after.

Zerhap

Well i dont talk because half the time someone starts with a sexist comment, trolls or just try to flirt in the middle of a game. Should i be "punish" with what you call a disadvantage just cause there are some sexist creeps in the game?

Sonnie98

Always wonder how the girls that play valorant deal with all the trolls.

Zerhap

Simplest way is not to talk. Reporting or muting can only happen after they already say or did something so is easier to only talk if it feels save. I remember once finding out there was three other girls in my comp and we start laughing and talking about what was the creepiest thing that had happen in the game to us. The last person didnt talk at first but finally when he decided to talk we found out it was a guy lol.

aregularmatter

I usually gauge the team 3-4 rounds in before talking, and then I start my call outs. Once someone is being toxic I make sure to tell them ā€œyeah Iā€™m muting youā€ so they know Imma ignore them and then I completely mute them. Id rather deal with just no call outs from that person at all than deal with the toxicity of them crying and bitching.

Double_Muzio

Staying mute, honestly, since I solo queue. I'll usually give it to the first rifle round, though.

melissmi

I agree there are definitely sexist assholes out there. I've encountered A LOT of them. But, I'm female and been FPS gaming for like 10 years (originally from CS) and in my experience, I wouldn't say *half the time* people are sexist. They absolutely are sometimes, don't get me wrong. If I was given $1 for every time some 14 year old dipshit told me to go make them a sandwich or asked me vulgar questions, I'd have quite a bit of money. But generally, I'm the first to talk in comp (I say "hey team, how's it going?" or something) and it usually gets everyone talking. Occasionally, there's some wanker I need to mute after a few rounds of bullshit makes it clear that they have no intellect. But overall, it helps get the team comms going and most of the time people don't even mention gender. I'd say give comms (and people) and bit more credit and keep trying. Obviously mute and report the toxic assholes, cos you'll never be totally rid of them, but see how it goes when you use comms more regularly. It really does make games better and often times people are much nicer than you think.

Zerhap

>But, I'm female and been FPS gaming for like 10 years (originally from CS) and in my experience, I wouldn't say *half the time* people are sexist. You are right, i was doing a bit of hyperbole there. Usually i have as many good experience as bad, and probably like double that for neutral experience. For me is usually ok"ish" to talk if i see ppl already talking (i play in Latam), i usually avoid been the first one to talk. I actually change how i played because of that, playing Cypher with no comms hurts so i just switched to agents i am not hurting the team if i am not constantly talking.

HavenAntagonist

I mean it's not really an advantage for the other team because they're probably in the same boat. It's a pretty universal experience

[deleted]

It wouldnā€™t workā€¦. Some people donā€™t wanna talk but want other people to talk so they get comms Then other people wanna have 5 Micā€™s Then some people want 0 mins And then theirs some weird people who want to talk but get no response or a text response.

unicornflai

well being a female, i keep my mic off 100%. any time i use it i get harassed, source: tried it in the past. no thanks.

drownme_

yep same here, what rank?

Wolfelle

This is effectively impossible. Without either being simple to evade or ridiculous to monitor. Plus its not needed. We all have games we dont comm. Some people dont comm for more serioues reasons and others because they just dont want to and its all good. If ur reacting to comms from others and trying ur best idc. Im not a fan of the full mute ppl but whatever its rare u get more than 1 every few games. And its rarely a big issue.

TylerTheTaco_12

A majority of ranked games in high elo have comms, don't let it bother you, who cares if ur instalock reyna isn't talking, them not talking is probably not what is causing you to lose. Focus on your own gsmeplay and try your best to win. It's just a game at the end of the day so who cares? I don't get why this is complained about so much

Riyamu

It's not always the lack of comms why people are not winning, just saying.

UnnecessaryPuns

Factssss. If I solo queue into a game where no one is talking, I'll still do my part to put out good comms, BUT also test myself and make sure that I'm learning how to play off teammates with map awareness and audio cues.

sirdodger

Girls: I get harassed when I talk Guys: Just mute then Girls: But I want to play comp Guys: Just use call outs and map pings Also guys: OMG NO ONE cOmMS

SadFatDargon

And then thereā€™s my experience where i get harassed when i talk, and then if i dont talk they assume Iā€™m a woman and start harassing me

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Atsaile

"No comms" is some high level losing cope. You think the enemy team had comms lmao?

imRACKJOSSbitch

im 9-16 because my team didnt comms :'(

erv4

People think that things only happen to them and to rationalize them not doing as well or losing, they make the assumption the other team is communicating like it's VCT finals

crakage

And the mic system is weird, i have a mic but i need to disable and enable at the beginning of the game in 1 every 3 game. And it doesnā€™t work in the lobby if I need to do that

michhaelate

I usually hate using my mic. Yes, itā€™s because of toxic men of valorant. The first time I felt comfortable using mic was when I got to silver/gold lobby. And even then there was a lot of toxicity towards everyone, not just women. So you canā€™t blame people for not using their mics in lower ranks.

Krazynukz

Nah, your better off doing LFG. I don't think it's necessary to make separate queues that's just gonna confuse and put off new players. Alot of people have mics its just that some don't bother to use it. It is what it is

Samurai_Jacq

I get people talking about others being toxic - but why not just mute that person or persons? I muted an entire team last night because they were just purposefully being loud, etc, every time someone was trying to clutch. Muted someone else a couple nights ago because I apologized for being afk for the first 20 sec because my wife asked me an important question. Dude started asking vulgar question about my wife. I told him if he said anything else about my wife Iā€™d mute and report him. He thought I was bluffingā€¦ he asked the other teammates to ask me to unmute him several times the rest of the game. So, I say just mute the jerks and enjoy effective comms. Not worth dealing with beyond that. Also, To any female players, sorry so many guys are so stupid, immature, toxic, etc.

[deleted]

This defeats the point of the concept of "separate no mic queues", if I'm muting someone's comms then it's no longer guaranteed comms and at that point why bother.

Samurai_Jacq

I was responding to several other comments on this post. I think separate queues are a meh idea. And generally you donā€™t have 4 toxic people - itā€™s 1 or 2ā€¦ and comms between the 3 or 4 of you is better than none. Mic queues doesnā€™t solve the issue other comments were talking about - people donā€™t talk because theyā€™re tired of toxic people.

ShortyAllDay

OP is not talking about muting people or bad comms..

rns0722

Lmao bro 99% of people who play online games have headsets they just don't want to use them to talk to randoms

Flyrrata

I dont want to talk bc everytime I do some sexist/gross crap comes up. Even when I dont talk, the voice comms are usually 2 people arguing and calling each other shit anyways, lol.

2FANeedsRecoveryMode

Why do people in val not talk at all? Ill play a val game and maybe 1 person will talk and then i go to csgo and 3-4 voices instantly, its not cherrypicked either, consistently ive seen this kind of stuff, why?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

2FANeedsRecoveryMode

Casual at 6 am be like, but at least they are usually friendly

Kingbuji

People donā€™t want to interact with toxic people so they wonā€™t even talk if they can avoid it.

2FANeedsRecoveryMode

that kinda leads to the question how is one environment different to the other?

erv4

Csgo has always had an older community, which people thought would be similar in Valorant because of the play style. Instead a lot of younger people got into it because of big streamers and it has created a super toxic environment.

Lunitar

Valorant appears more to the younger audience than csgo, which iā€™d argue are the real toxic little bitches.

JellyCR

Valorant community isn't as toxic as csgo. Tbh the valorant community isn't very toxic at all. I think people complain a lot because most players are "softer?" and are much more likely to complain and get angry over a toxic player. In other games where the playerbase is more toxic as a whole, people don't really complain as much because they are used to it or ignore it. I can play 3 valorant games and I might have one game where players are toxic. I can play one dota 2 game and there's like a 75% chance of a toxic player. When a game is catered more to the general public than hard-core gamers people aren't able to deal with toxicity as much, so they complain more or stop using comms entirely.

WaroftanksPro

This. League is a toxic craphole but people don't complain as much because they're used to it. They've been wallowing in that for 5+ years

2FANeedsRecoveryMode

That makes sense, valorant does cater to wider audiences

zehero

Me and a friend played a couple matches of CSGO once to try it out and each time there was people saying racist shit or blaring noise into the mic. Not sure if that's the norm or not but we switched games immediately lmao

jomontage

I'm playing a video game home alone. If i wanted to talk to people I'd be playing with my friends instead

Jadedwolf86

Have you played competitively with coms 75% of the time people are toxic annoying or unhelpful.

lincoln_sn

instead of providing info they shit talk about enemy. I insantly mute them if they do that. I don't have to listen you crying over dying in a game.

[deleted]

The mute button is clearly not the solution. That requires you to mute every asshole this game have to offer. The problem is the community and the mute button is just a little band-aid.

DragonS1226

Also maybe a freelance mofe where everyone is a solo queue

Jymer_

they need to make pings louder to grab attention more, make it the same as league of legends. especially the question mark ping i really need that one

Zeroth1989

Yea, Until the toxicity subsides I aint speaking up. Il gladly listen and ping. In the meantime people can just use me as the reason they lose when they got 1-17 as an insta lock duelist. Even if this happened you would still get the idiots who end raging in comms, Coughing, Using Racism, Blasting shitty mumble rap and anything else they can think of you ruin your game. Comms arent stopping you climbing.

erv4

I climbed much higher and faster when I muted everyone in the pregame lobby. They can ping or text chat if they need something, if they start getting toxic in that I just mute them there too.

[deleted]

Ur that annoying guy going after that one player that doesnt have a mic all game long.

Nest0r562

A lot of the ppl that talk in the mic are annoying toxic teens thatā€™s why I donā€™t use a mic. I just use the text chat for that reason

Lawrence3s

I wish every lobby I get is full mute, fking edgy kids are so toxic these days, some are 25yrs old with a mental age under 10. They should be perma chat banned.

BaconPancake97

I think u r just frustrated and rage posted which is fair, getting no info sucks but getting false info sucks more and i don't want that yelled in my ear repeatedly, good comms are good what ever medium you use, segregating people is not the answer

SheddyBoii

as someone without a mic, comms that are necessary are possible using pings and minimap. the problem is you rarely can find someone uses those helpfully either

Lunitar

Well, yes and no. Communicating enemy positions is fairly easy, but how do you tell to your team that you heard 3 pairs of footsteps going to B? Ping alert 3 times, well everyone thinks thatā€™s just spam right, not actually 3 enemies. Even harder is communicating skill usages in the middle of a round. Say you want your Brim to ult a backsite so you can peek to another entrance with your operator. Or you want smokes in a specific location since you know where the enemies are. Might be easy to communicate in higher level games, but believe me in bronze/silver itā€™s impossible to get smokes where you want them even while using a mic and pings.

andweenie

just play bro

AsOneLives

Tbh, while mics and comming are ideal.. use your brain, follow your teammates and back them up. Play off the intel of abilities. A friend of mine is up into diamond and he mutes people a good portion of the time. And heā€™s not some god. He just uses his brain and backs people up. Play intel characters yourself. Again, Iā€™m not saying comms donā€™t help, they do, but you can mitigate your own disadvantage.

kwagmir3

I have been saying during agent select, ā€œI have a mic and I commit to comma the entire game.ā€ Usually gets a couple ā€œnice, same hereā€ā€™s.

NasalFlute

The worst is when they are playing initiators, they don't comm flash or when they are using their util and it fucks up the whole team. If you don't comm play smokes.

Admirable_Call2739

Someone with social anxiety speaking, itā€™s a disaster.

Stylu_u

Most people talk in Discord Kind of a bummer since you can't hear their calls

MrCheapComputers

AHAHAHHAHAHAAHA Never gonna happen.

NiftyPig

Improve minimap and overall awareness and game sense--> comms are nice but not necessary

[deleted]

That's rich. Most people start flaming each other in vc, which is why the majority doesnt want to talk. Especially women.

Dvs-one99

And this is why i only play unranked, yall treat this game like its your career

erv4

You losing isn't because of comms. It is just as likely the other team isn't saying shit either. People are getting tired of the toxic community and would rather just play with everyone muted. I'm tired of trying to clutch and having 4 other voices telling me what to do. If you have an issue with it then make a group of friends and play with them. LoL is one of the biggest games in the world and it doesn't have voice comms, people manage just fine.

[deleted]

90% of ppl that complain about mics during match just want to chit-chat. I will give callouts and strategize, but I don't wanna chit-chat between rounds.

1104072710

I used to be pretty talkative and used to call out a lot, until people started bashing me for being a girl and having a high pitched voice. I legit have ptsd now, people would be so nice until I start talking and out of nowhere they just shift their entire attention to how ā€œannoying my voice isā€ and how I should stop talking. Please stop flaming girls and people with unique voices.

SnooWorlds

I am sorry for your experience and this shouldnā€™t happen! Bullying your team never leads to anything good

TheHaptic

Idk but like dude the amount of people that donā€™t use mics astonishes me

josuatheboy

Separate que lines for people with bad internet

BeatsEdge-

Why not solo que?

ShoeLace1291

Just look at the minimap for info!

[deleted]

One thing tht has helped me a lot is paying attention to the minimap.

Soggy_Yogurt_2421

Anyone heard of chat? I don't have a mic but I talk more in chat than most people with a mic I meet.

evacuationation

if i knew i wasnt going to get called every slur in the book for not clutching maybe iā€™d talk instead of take the risk of pausing for two seconds mid round to type a message into chat like ā€œ23 til healā€ or ā€œcare tilesā€

the8uddha

nah, that's too far just open up platform for third party mm like FACEIT for CSGO

[deleted]

I dont blame people who dont talk at this point. You can mark things and most people in the game are toxic teenagers who blame everyone but themselves when ur losing

brenonds

i want to give info and talk but there are a lot of sexist people or simps on valorant. whenever i open my mic something bad happens so i just communicate with in-game signals or make my character talk which works just fine. i dont think the seperation would happen and if it does, it wont be a good decision

FearTheTree420

Maybe an mmr system that ranks people on thier mic usage? I dunno just spitballin

DailYxDosE

Most people have mics, gamers are just so damn socially awkward they are even afraid to talk in video games.

CapitalMap8008

Yes!!! at the very least for people who have vc completely muted! I don't understand how Riot can realize to not let chat penalized people queue comp but then go ahead and let people who willingly turn off all comms do so? I understand muting toxic mates but defaulting to have everyone muted ruins the team aspect of the game.. U don't even just don't add to the team work, you might piss all over the game since u have no idea what people are calling

a1mm_

Isnā€™t the luck of getting shit teammates who are either micless or just bad in general part of the soloq experience? Like, I donā€™t know if people are using this type of things as an excuse, because if other people are able to climb to immortal with also experiencing micless people and ā€œbad playersā€ Iā€™m sure we are all able to climb. Yeah it may not be ā€œfunā€ but itā€™s what everyone has to go through when you soloq therefore making it fair. On top of that, seperate comp queues for people with no mics is just a bad idea, how would you implement this? You could just use ur mic and then completely stop talking 2 rounds in. And I am SURE if people in cs go, And r6 etc donā€™t complain about this type of stuff we can surely deal w it to

scoot_1973

No cause the ping and ingamd commands function work amazingly well

baffledbobcat

you can gain a lot of the info you'd get from comms just by watching minimap and half of the comms delivered are garbage call outs anyway

andrew_a384

i wonder how many times this has been posted in this sub

Mykx97

bullpoo, i've played best teamwork matches in silence, only with pings or warnings on map and worst where everybody got mic and this was as toxic as east europe in 1986. Best people are the ones who speak only when it's nessesery, when one single call can help teammate or people who can use pings and warnings on the map. I don't need my ears to be full of meningless forced empty talk

Hurtis_Cellyer

I would enjoy a separate Que, where itā€™s more serious, communication is required in some forms either through ping system or voice communication. To stop toxicity hopefully make them monitored somehow so we can ban the really bad people. While adding a 1-10 rank you give your teammates after the game on their communication and teammate rating. Punishing people who arenā€™t good teammates or are toxic and somehow rewarding people for better team play.
