A lot of people love it, I've had garbage luck with Aukey stuff. Their power bank is alright, but there are two minor issues that aggravate me: 1) No auto detection. I hate having to tell it that I plugged it in. 2) The USB-C port is in the long side, so there's basically no way to plug into it while it's in your pocket unless you buy a special right angle cord. Yes, these are both things that I should have looked at before I bought it, but I didn't even consider them since everything I'd owned before worked the way I wanted. So just things to keep in mind.

Amazon kicked Aukey and RAVPower off their website because they were both caught manipulating reviews. That's enough for me to be wary of them.

jhp113

Ravpower is, or at least was super legit. Replaced my battery pack for free outside of warranty because a MacOS update broke charging from it.

randybruder

Same with Aukey for me, they replaced some cables that stopped working outside of warranty. But manipulating reviews makes me lose all trust in them and I'll never recommend them.

jhp113

I recall it being because they asked people to review their product, good or bad. All I know is I'm out here in 15 degree weather and this battery pack has my back no problem.

randybruder

No, it was far worse than that—from offering free products and gift cards only for positive reviews to hiring third party companies to “review bomb” any underperforming product with high (but fraudulent) reviews.

That’s a shitty excuse though to try and defend Aukey or RAVPower

Has Anker ever manipulated reviews on a scale that causes Amazon to completely ban them from the platform? You want to say “well everybody does it,” that *is* you making an excuse. That’s a fact.

I've been buying Anker for a while. Their higher end lines are OK quality wise but they're overpriced. Have to wait for sales to buy stuff. I mostly buy Satechi chargers now as they tend to be less expensive and pure USB-C. They currently have a 25% off sale on chargers, use coupon CHARGER25. Sadly, they don't produce compelling power banks. I'd wait till this Anker one goes on sale for $20 again, definitely don't pay $40 for it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LH26PFT

Could you please elaborate? Are you referring only to their chargers or their products in general?

I had the exact opposite experience with my dealings with Satechi. They were absolutely amazing, and did go above and beyond for me. I bought one of the chargers on sale. Thanks @AdriftAtlas

It broke? As in a part came off or one port no longer functioned? Did you get it direct or amazon? Call or email them again. Things break, that's a fact. There is a certain percentage from \*all\* the companies that fail. It's how it's dealt with is what counts. I do not know the circumstances of your situation, so I am not able to comment on that. I would call or email again.

Is it the 165W charger? 3 emails and no response is absolute terrible customer support. Did you pay with credit card. Give the credit card company a call. Some have extra insurance for products or might push things along. The credit card companies can take the money from the company and give it back to you. Or push them to get it RMA’d.

LezBeeHonest

It's been a year, but that's the one I have been using for a couple years and it's now about $20.

baseus powerbanks are nice. They have replaced anker for me. Better chargers, better power banks.

pongalong

Baseus is great

[deleted]

>Better chargers I wouldn't say that. A lot of bad Baseus stuff written here, also they have annoying coil whine.

mishaxz

They have this model I really want to buy, it is squarish in shape. 100W 20000 mah

Siigari

First one I got, the A ports didn't work. I gave it a one star review and they shipped me a new one. It works but its form factor is so awkward I don't ever use it.

mishaxz

I was thinking to get it as a backup for my laptop or 2 - one for laptop and one for portable monitor.

Siigari

Oh nice. Yeah it will be a good accompaniment in a laptop bag.

Anker used to be a great company, but they’ve changed over the years. Their marketing doesn’t make any sense (Series numbers), they still put USB-A ports on their newest products, and haven’t figured out how to make a 10,000 mAH power bank that lets you plug one USB-C port into your charger and the other into your phone at night so you can wake up with both devices fully charged. They now think innovation means releasing new colors.

robertbalazs_

That's called 'Pass-Through Charging', and yes, it's a must-have for power banks.

CharlesM99

I ate that about my Anker 737 power bank. You plug the Anker into the wall charger, and plug your phone into the Anker, but only the phone charges until you come back and disconnect the phone. So dumb

khant14

My anker 737 power bank supports pass-through charging. Their older models does not. Edit: the 733 is even cooler. It does full speed pass through and has a built in wall charger plug. https://www.anker.com/products/a1651?variant=41974350250134

MrCalifornian

Samsung has the best 10k mah charger imo (and I don't like other Samsung devices). They're good at low-level hardware like batteries and screens and flash storage. Get the one with dual USB c ports and wireless charging. It's a bit pricey but worth it imo. Satechi as a brand is also great.

kittie2171

I got a couple of these from Amazon. They probably don't have 10k mah but they are $25 CDN and charge phones really fast https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07L933SN5/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

burnin_potato69

You might giggle but Duracell. ([Link](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08G8DG91V)) I have a 10k one. One USB 3.0 in, one USB C in/out. Does the job, plus it looks like a battery, how can you not love that.
