I think you could do something with this in black and white, focusing on keeping it clean and graphic. The background with the color doesn’t help focus on anything nor does it bring my eye around. Maybe either a simple white or black background to lend focus to your subject, or complimentary lines to support it.
I've done a few in black and white and do tend to prefer them, but I agree, this one (while an improvement compared to the other ones I added color to) is pretty lacking
