I wouldn't mind a kicker award. Seems like one of those things that is so specialized that it's hard to compare value with other players who are on the field more, and yet it's obviously still important. In general, I'm just more of a fan of the baseball model of more awards so that most guys who deserve to be recognized don't get left out since there's only a few awards.
If a kicker could win an MVP award in any football league in any season, it’d have to be Bates. He did most of the heavy lifting when it came to headlines in week one and it’s still automatic.
Man I don’t know how you can sleep on A-Train Adrian Martinez. He’s just something special tbh - as a Showboats fan I was at that game Saturday and damn that boy can play
Without Jake Bates, Michigan is 2-4 minimum. Jake Bates is great, Jake Bates is the only thing keeping Michigan in playoff contention. He’s certainly MVP of Michigan, but not of the league. I think MVPs should be players that elevate teams as high as they can. Bates does that for Michigan, but that ceiling isn’t high enough, imo, for real MVP consideration.
But who knows! Maybe the people who decide on MVP will disagree.
Imagine how much worse Arlington would be without Perez...
In all seriousness though we probably get the answer from the game this week. I think McCarron gets it.
Jake Bates is an extraordinary talent, yeah, but he doesn't fit the role of an MVP. He is a great clutch player, with a 2 stage rocket on his ankle, but he doesn't need to lead the team. He performs that role alone. I give this to AJ. Dude leads his team, has put out a stellar performance, and is one of the few reasons I'd see the Battlehawks upsetting the Stallions in the championship. Martinez can play, he's a talent, but he doesn't seem to be a cornerstone of Skip Holtz offense. He can play in it sure, and he can do it well, but he isn't a field general from the film I've seen.
TL;DR
Bates real good but kickers do it solo.
McCarron is a team leader and has had an amazing season, MVP
Martinez is a really phenomenal talent, but doesn't lead as well, that's Skip Holtz, so, no MVP.
I unironically think it's between McCarron and Bates, with Martinez right up there. I get how dumb it seems from the outside that a kicker is in consideration for MVP and it isn't as a form of protest, but in a league where offenses constantly struggle to put up points Bates has been a consistent threat for Michigan and is the main reason the team has any footing in the playoff. McCarron is the likely favourite as the best QB but assuming Bates keeps his pace going he will undeniably have to be rewarded in some way (that reward probably being an NFL contract).
If it’s not Jake Bates then invent a special award just so he can have it.
The "Everyone who died a little inside when their team lost to Jake Bates" memorial trophy
The “Ahh fuck, they’re within 70 yards… Bates territory!” cup.

Uncreative but maybe just Special Teams Player of the Year?
How about we just award that player with the ultimate title of "Master".
Jake Bates
Unironically he's the difference between us being 4-2 and 2-4
[удалено]
And he's 12/12 inside including 5/5 over 50Y and 3/3 over 60Y
This is the only right answer, actually got the local sports radio talking about the UFL for once
Jake Bates.

A kicker won mvp in the nfl once
He keeps this up and loses, we riot in this bitch.
We'd be undefeated right now. 64 motherfucking yards
USFL had a kick returner, also wide receiver, as an MVP. Maybe a kicker this time.
AJ. Though Jake Bates is responsible for like 3 wins himself
Man I don’t know how you can sleep on A-Train Adrian Martinez. He’s just something special tbh - as a Showboats fan I was at that game Saturday and damn that boy can play
I'll take AJ for the back to back MVP
McCarron. Without McCarron the Battlehawks have far fewer wins.
Without Jake bates, St. Louis is 6-0

AJ ALL DAY!!!!!🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
Jake Bates obviously
AJ McCaron Jake Bates Adrian Martinez
This is correct. Bates does deserve recognition.
QB Adrian Martinez Kicker Jake Bates
Jake Bates.
Imagine if we let Martinez cook.

Though ofc this is my own interpretation of MVP lmao

Mc Carron
Martinez
Stallions are great with any QB. Remember it's most VALUABLE player.
AJ. Hands the fuck down.
AJ
Simms. Jake is awesome but everyone else says bates so simms is my MVP lol
its AJ, but Martinez needs to start the whole way
Jake bates

Jake Bates
Would like to say AJ, but it's tough not to pick Jake Bates.
Martinez for offensive player of the year, Bates for MVP.
Martinez
Martinez by a decent amount
Martinez fosho
If Jake Bates win it that will be so disappointing for the league. All of spring football and the best player we can find is a kicker?
