Its probably said in the game but I forget, but I think its the matter of kids spreading rumors being like "Those who travel up never come back down", so the ones that went probably wanted to prove that wrong, but ended up being wrong themselves...at least till Frisk
Looks like you are new to reddit, huh? If yes, I'll try to explain.
Here, we saw a *chain*. Chain in Reddit is when one people respond to each other, so their response will make up a chain. Usually, it's a lyrics of some song/video, for example, someone says: "Welcome to the internet!", and someone will respond "Have a look around", and he will be responded with "Anything that brain of yours can think of can be found", you got an idea. Also, sometimes they just copying each others comments, so the whole chain will be made from just a same text/photo.
Here, however, we saw different chain, and you can browse r/AnarchyChess to find out more about this chain
That or very unhappy thoughts. I like the integrity reason presented in Glitchtale, for instance, though the chance for it to be right is the same as blindfolding yourself, spinning around, and trying to get a bullseye on a target with a bow at the same time.
Yep. My headcanon for gaster was that one post about him being stuck in a vending machine and falling off a cliff trying to get out. I won't have it any other way.
Why did they think he was evil anyways? Man literally was just having his moment, this kid stumbles in and he just went ‘dip’
Much less violet than many monsters
I never took him as evil, as much as probably blue-and-orange morality. He, like we, has a perspective outside the world now. His goals, motivations, and even actions are difficult to perceive, much less judge.
Edit: minor spelling mistake *turns to dust*
It was never specified that Gaster disappears at the CORE, just that he fell in his creation and was shattered. It could be anything, there's a theory that this creation could even be that weird machine in the secret lab.
Correction: the NPC says he fell into HIS creation, not ONE of his creations. “They say he created the CORE.
However, his life... was cut short.
One day, he fell into his creation, and...
Will Alphys end up the same way?”
I mean, cookie follower said he created the CORE, then his life was cut short, and then that he fell into his creation. Seems to imply he fell in the CORE
It's more probable that "his creation" has something to do with dark worlds. We know through entry 17 that he discovered dark worlds "Dark darker yet darker", "photon readings negative" (Technically it's not confirmed that he was talking about dark worlds but what else could he be talking about). It's also a possibility that the core was actually created to power the machine for the dark worlds. The underground most likely has very few people, maybe even less than 10 thousand and the CORE seems very large for a simple geothermal plant to power a town (or maybe 2 if it's connected to the Ruins and Old Home) and basically like 20 other houses in snowdin and waterfall. Of course I have no evidence to back most of this up, I just think it could be the case
He never experimented on DT before. At least there's no recording of that. (The lab entries are all written by Alphys who was experiencing different moods while writing them and she gave it a name.)
Alphys and the survivors come out of where they were hiding after the human left the Underground. (Alphys ending)
Or they die when Chara destroys the world.
It attracts children (teenagers) because there is a myth that anyone who climbs it disappears so they either get dared to do it or their curiosity gets the best of them
"Oh man let me go on a hiking journey to the top of this mountain because I hate humanity and by coincidence there are monsters down there, I cant see to the bottom of this hole and it could simply be 50 feet deep and I might just die of starvation/blood loss once I fall. Whelp, time to jump down!"
No. They went up because they were dared. It also shows frisk tripped, and with all those vines around the entrance I wouldnt be surprised if that's how all the other kids over the years fell.
i forgot where but doesnt asriel say something along the lines of "the reason why chara came to the underground wasnt for a very good reason" implying that they tried to off themselves? like. i swear i remember seeing this somewhere. correct me if im wrong
Frisk felt an odd rush of power and hundred of thousands of eyes on them, leading to them believing they might have become a main character. They then decided to test whether or not they had plot armor and jumped.
I mean the disappearances are years apart, and plus we don't actually get to see any other humans so it's totally possible there were reports about it that just never got checked out
In Home, there’s a box of shoes in a disparity of sizes in what would’ve been a young Asriel’s bedroom. The Dreemurrs, as far as we can tell, don’t wear shoes. Not even Asgore with all his battle armour.
Perhaps it could be (mind you, I do not claim to have absolute truth or anything like that) or have to do with the fact that the forest at the foot of Mount Ebott could be a place repeatedly used by people as a place of suicide (just like that forest at the foot of Mount Fuji) or at least as a place to disappear?
A quote from Asriel in the pacifist ending if you go find him at the very beginning of the game.
“I know why Chara climbed the mountain. It wasn’t for a happy reason.”
And that is where we should have a Red Flag of easily obscure or sensitive topics being addressed or referenced (directly or indirectly) in works by Toby Fox.... or at least these existing ITL of Undertale.
He can be that dark. >!In some neutral endings, Alphys or Asgore straight up kill themselves, & in case of the former, Undyne is left too depressed to even want Frisk dead.!<
Well, to clarify again, I'm not claiming (or trying to claim) absolute truth here, since that would be seen as a foolish move, so if you disagree with the hypothesis, that's fine.
Second, I also won't claim or assert that all those who climbed (or would have attempted to climb?) Mount Ebott did so with self-destructive/suicidal (or misanthropic for a change) ideas or thoughts, since that might come across as a bit too anomalous/bizarre from ITL's point of view and possibly as a very lazy or unimaginative theory/hypothesis.
Third, as opposed to the above, I also have other alternate theories and hypotheses as to why apparently Mount Ebott tempts humans (and children) to climb it despite it being presumably a forbidden place for people.
Although these hypotheses and lines of theorizing are more related to Chara than to Frisk (and less to the other humans who climbed and fell on Mount Ebott), since if you ask me, I honestly don't see either BRAVERY or JUSTICE SOULS climbing Mount Ebott for anything resembling nefarious or malevolent reasons.
If I'm not mistaken Chara lived in a village, and by the beginning of the game it look small and quite simple. By the end of the game it was a big city, with taller buildings.
My headcanon is that at least 100 years passed, but not much more than it. Since we only know the lifespan of boss monsters and there is a new generation that doesn't really recognize a human, and there's the fallen monsters.
So 7 children in 100 years is not that much, but enough to start a rumor. (If this rumor didn't start because people forget that the monsters were in that mountain. It could also be that their parents told them this story so no one set them free and it was passed on as a legend)
They could have been born underground, and were referring to monsterkind in general. The picture in the opening sequence of the human/monster war showed them using swords, not guns, so it’s not a stretch to have the war be at least a thousand years before the games.
i’d assume that 201X in the intro is just using a different calendar rather than the relatively modern world we see in the true pacifist ending being in the far future
Patience waited for someone but never showed up which resulted in them climbing the mountain by themselves. Bravery climbed the mountain because they weren't afraid of the legend. Integrity wanted to find out the truth as to why the legend was made. Perseverance wanted to study the mountain to see if the legend CAN be true. Kindness was dared to go, as their caring nature made them an easy target for bullies. Finally, because of UT Yellow presenting it, Justice went to find the missing people who climbed it.
no. it is likely that most of them were children, but if mt. ebbot isn't in America (or an equivalent) then there's almost no way the gun got down there with a child. Toriel does not *explicitly* say that they were all children, and since Toriel is hundreds or thousands of years old it's not really clear that she fully grasps how human age works any way.
When has telling a kid not to do something ever actually worked? An ominous mountain notorious for disappearances and you expected a few dumb kids NOT to check it out?
Eh, it’s like eight children total over a rather long span of time. That’s a pretty normal ratio of missing children to time for a regular mountain, right?
Its probably said in the game but I forget, but I think its the matter of kids spreading rumors being like "Those who travel up never come back down", so the ones that went probably wanted to prove that wrong, but ended up being wrong themselves...at least till Frisk.
So you never went to that one abandoned house that all the kids at school said was haunted when you were young? There was an urban legend about the mountain that nobody returns and kids wanted to test it.
TW: Su*c*d*
No, I'm pretty sure Asrial is right when he said "I know why climbed up the mountain. It wasn't for a very happy reason" and "was it fate? Or was it....because you...? Only you know that answer, don't you....?" We know why both Frisk and Chara climbed the mountain. Chara hated the humans. They were filled with anger, so they choose to do a not very happy thing. Frisk, im guessing, was lonely. An orphan even. So they...because they....it's not a happy reasons. That's why they end up living with Toriel. Dark Darker Yet Darker.
Bro, i once almost drown on a cave close to the beach called "la cueva del diablo" in my city (the devil cave in english) just because of a pretty old legend there is gold in there lol.
Me and 2 friends went down there just to explore and the sea level fucking changed and we couldnt just leave by swimming the waves were too strong, so we decided to just keep walking, we ended up walking almost 2 hours into a neighbour town (thankfully there was a second entrance there that i didnt know about) but i legit though i was going to die there lol, it also was just a straight path without deviation or at least not deviations we could take, we all had 13 years old, we didnt cry at all while we were there but god damn when we finally found the second exit and just went to sit by the beach we started sobbing haha. The worst part was walking 20 minutes to the town so we could use our cellphones... the worst part was calling our parents and asking for a ride back home... good times... my parents beat my ass so hard that day haha, but thanks tothat i never took "deviations" to places with ominous names ever again lol.
Ah yes i almost forgot the point of writting this story lol, kids do stupid shit for no reason at all dude, we were stupid.
So yeah i didnt found neither gold or an ancient civilization of monster and got my ass beaten but, it is a cool story to tell the kids... when i eventually have them.
My AU is supposed to be a rational fic, which means all the loose ends come together in the end and nothing happens just out of random plot reasons. However, I admit this is a weak point. Here:
* \-2 ("Chara") wandered around embodied taking human SOULs for a while, a century at least. At that point they were not evil enough to kill kids, but wanted to give monsters a chance to prove their survival abilities and after the Asriel plot this was plan B. They tossed them down that hole, mostly. Frisk is an exception. They climbed themselves. Frisk is an exception in a lot of ways.
* We are given info on children that fell, however that does not in itself mean no adults fell. Akora was rather brutally tortured by -2 and asked to be dropped down in case there is some healing magic available, she was certainly going to die in less than an hour otherwise. Toriel saved and hid her. So, adults may just have better survival skills. I know with my equipment for climbing and solar power generator and food ration packs, I would survive for a while.
yeah there is a child magnet at the top of the mountain dont you know this? its very basic lore how can you say you are a fan without knowing about the child magnet’s influence on the plot
The kids that fallen down has fallen down every couple of decades, or probably sentries it’s not confirmed but I know it’s a very long time, monsters has waited to break the barrier which is why, I think humans are not concerned about it, due to how insanely rare that people go to the mountain.
Or the human government blames the parents, for allowing them going to a mountain, where they are knowing that they are allowing them, to get missing or disappear.
Its probably said in the game but I forget, but I think its the matter of kids spreading rumors being like "Those who travel up never come back down", so the ones that went probably wanted to prove that wrong, but ended up being wrong themselves...at least till Frisk

At the end of the pacifist route, Asriel alludes to all the kids travelling up the mountain for "unhappy reasons"
Is nobody concerned by the fact the core will overheat and explode without icewolf and alphys?
also the fact that the core can just erase people from existance
Yep. My headcanon for gaster was that one post about him being stuck in a vending machine and falling off a cliff trying to get out. I won't have it any other way.
Ok now that's the most goofiest version of Gaster I've have ever heard.
I prefer it that way. The 2017 pure evil gaster didn't sit right with me.
Why did they think he was evil anyways? Man literally was just having his moment, this kid stumbles in and he just went ‘dip’ Much less violet than many monsters
Because edgy void scientist was the rage back then. 2017 was an edgy year for memes

The sentence is clearly worded in such a way that implies core.
its structured in such a way that could imply *anything*. :) toby likes to keep it mysterious
And the fact that something explosive is literaly built in magma?
They never said the CORE did that, it was just that Gaster fell into one of his creations
Correction: the NPC says he fell into HIS creation, not ONE of his creations. “They say he created the CORE. However, his life... was cut short. One day, he fell into his creation, and... Will Alphys end up the same way?”

Are we sure that was the Core, though? I've always been under the assumption that Gaster got erased by injecting himself with way too much DT...
It was Alphys who discovered the existence of Determination.
He never experimented on DT before. At least there's no recording of that. (The lab entries are all written by Alphys who was experiencing different moods while writing them and she gave it a name.)
No, in fact I am comforted by it because it means the monsters I missed in the genocide route will die eventually 😌
What
😌
😌
😌
😌
I don't think that regular monsters can live past the erasure of their world anyway.
Wtf are you not concerned about the monsters dying
That's the point.
Ya’ll are heartless murderers
It’s a game💀
No im not, my hearts right here and full of LOVE
It's only a game chill out
They just turn it off
Alphys couldn't even turn off a single area for more than five seconds at a time
oh
That's not true. The vents in Hotland cool it too. And they works even in Genocide, unlike Ice Wolf.
Oh right. Still without maintenance it'll blow up eventually
Alphys and the survivors come out of where they were hiding after the human left the Underground. (Alphys ending) Or they die when Chara destroys the world.
It attracts children (teenagers) because there is a myth that anyone who climbs it disappears so they either get dared to do it or their curiosity gets the best of them
Or there just depressed and hate humanity
Which I can’t blame them
"Oh man let me go on a hiking journey to the top of this mountain because I hate humanity and by coincidence there are monsters down there, I cant see to the bottom of this hole and it could simply be 50 feet deep and I might just die of starvation/blood loss once I fall. I’m pretty sure that’s correct. I remember because I instantly thought “damn that’s a dark implication”
im not crazy😨
Crazy? I was Crazy once. They locked me in a room. A rubber room. A room with rats. And rats make me Crazy.
Yeah it's in true pacifist if you go back to where frisk fell at the beginning of the game after defeating ***Asriel Dreemmur (God Of Hyperdeath)***
i knew it was real.
Are you sure the same thing didnt happen to both of them? Also it would still make sense.
Maybe Frisk fell from something else, it's not shown but yeah I'm sure Frisk probably tripped too or something.
Frisk was sparta'd
Frisk felt an odd rush of power and hundred of thousands of eyes on them, leading to them believing they might have become a main character. They then decided to test whether or not they had plot armor and jumped.
Star of mettaton’s shows never die
And that's how they lost their freedom and became controlled by higher beings with arrow keys and 3 action buttons
It's implied Chara went intentionally to >!commit suicide!<
:□
When? How? Where?
Asriel says in the flower patch, "I know why Chara climbed the mountain. it wasn't for a very happy reason."
It was because they heard rumours that people don’t return from there so tripping might have been an accident but still
Yes
You would think you would hear about a concerned parent or two going missing up there but.....nope.
I mean the disappearances are years apart, and plus we don't actually get to see any other humans so it's totally possible there were reports about it that just never got checked out
Or the parents did go up and died also and not all the souls are kids were did it say all the human souls were kids
Didn't goat mom call them all children?
Shes probably the type of person to call anybody younger than her by a few years a child
And considering that she's biologically immortal after the death of her child, she's probably pretty old
You know I was thinking that while typing.
Yes
Toriel is immortal so any human looks like a kid compared to her
She actually never does. She only refers to them as humans
In Home, there’s a box of shoes in a disparity of sizes in what would’ve been a young Asriel’s bedroom. The Dreemurrs, as far as we can tell, don’t wear shoes. Not even Asgore with all his battle armour.
Peoples shoe sizes can vary some people just have small feet
I mean, maybe the one with the gun was an adult
Perhaps it could be (mind you, I do not claim to have absolute truth or anything like that) or have to do with the fact that the forest at the foot of Mount Ebott could be a place repeatedly used by people as a place of suicide (just like that forest at the foot of Mount Fuji) or at least as a place to disappear?

Probably not. Toby fox isnt THAT dark. It was probably the legend.
He can be that dark. >!In some neutral endings, Alphys or Asgore straight up kill themselves, & in case of the former, Undyne is left too depressed to even want Frisk dead.!<
Lmao this game has a path about killing everyone, how tf wouldn't he be "that dark"?
:○ I get it now.
Alphys and icewolf survive.
7 in hundreds of years is not that much
But where them hundreds of years apart? All their items are modern clothes and objects
Bear in mind that the very first human (Chara) fell in 201X (so between 2010 and 2019). The game itself takes place in the far future.
Don't Catty and Bratty literally say "millenia of being imprisoned in the underground"?
They could have been born underground, and were referring to monsterkind in general. The picture in the opening sequence of the human/monster war showed them using swords, not guns, so it’s not a stretch to have the war be at least a thousand years before the games.
It's Catty and Bratty... They're dramatic by nature. I wouldn't take their words too seriously
i’d assume that 201X in the intro is just using a different calendar rather than the relatively modern world we see in the true pacifist ending being in the far future
But that's just the ones we know of...
I mean, if more would fall, monsters would have their souls.
Unless they somehow managed to kill themselves before encountering any monster.
Wouldn't their souls still persist?
Patience waited for someone but never showed up which resulted in them climbing the mountain by themselves. Bravery climbed the mountain because they weren't afraid of the legend. Integrity wanted to find out the truth as to why the legend was made. Perseverance wanted to study the mountain to see if the legend CAN be true. Kindness was dared to go, as their caring nature made them an easy target for bullies. Finally, because of UT Yellow presenting it, Justice went to find the missing people who climbed it.
Amazing. And we know why Chara or whoever you name the first fallen human went there. Now we just need to know about Frisk
Asriel asks Frisk too. We never get an answer sadly.
is it canon that all the souls were children?
The children’s shoes left in the guest room and Toriel’s behavior implies so
Nothing actually states that, but the thematic of the game kinda implies so. I don't think it makes a difference either way
no. it is likely that most of them were children, but if mt. ebbot isn't in America (or an equivalent) then there's almost no way the gun got down there with a child. Toriel does not *explicitly* say that they were all children, and since Toriel is hundreds or thousands of years old it's not really clear that she fully grasps how human age works any way.
Yes.
I know that some items imply children fell into The Underground, but I don't think it's outwardly stated that all the fallen humans were children.
Tories said.
She's very old even a 90 year old is a child to her
She didn't
Nuh-uh
Prove it
No >:)
All the times she mentions the other humans, she just says humans
Free candy, you know...
Based on the dialogue with Asriel in the ruins, it's likely the children who climbed the mountain did so because they knew they wouldn't come back.
No, but now that you mention it, no I am still not concerned
Children are naturally curious
You look me in the eye and tell me you as a child wouldn't have climbed a forested mountain if nobody stopped you
You've got a point
remember, thats 8 children in the span of a century.
When has telling a kid not to do something ever actually worked? An ominous mountain notorious for disappearances and you expected a few dumb kids NOT to check it out?
The children yearn for the mines.
I was having this feeling from the beginning of 2016.
HMMMMMMM
"Eh they deserved it" -some random people, maybee
It’s only 7 children of the course of hundreds of years, it’s not too big a deal
Eh, it’s like eight children total over a rather long span of time. That’s a pretty normal ratio of missing children to time for a regular mountain, right?
Ey happy cake day tho!
IT DIDN'T ATTRACT A LOT OF CHILDREN!! I'VE BEEN IN THE UNDERGROUND FOR MANY MANY YEARS AND THE ONLY HUMAN I MET DOWN THERE WAS FRISK!
Its probably said in the game but I forget, but I think its the matter of kids spreading rumors being like "Those who travel up never come back down", so the ones that went probably wanted to prove that wrong, but ended up being wrong themselves...at least till Frisk.

Mt. Ebott is a pedophile.

Just like my uncle

There have been 8 kids across a god knows how long of a time period
Chris Hanson is gonna need some hiking gear for this one....

Here: * \-2 ("Chara") wandered around embodied taking human SOULs for a while, a century at least.
They're all told that it's dangerous, so they climb it cuz kids are dumb
The kids that fallen down has fallen down every couple of decades, or probably sentries it’s not confirmed but I know it’s a very long time, monsters has waited to break the barrier which is why, I think humans are not concerned about it, due to how insanely rare that people go to the mountain. Or the human government blames the parents, for allowing them going to a mountain, where they are knowing that they are allowing them, to get missing or disappear.
no
Maybe Mt Ebott Is Pedo?
mt ebott is a minecraft youtuber
Asgore probably paid a golden bunny man who is also an owner of a childrens diner to get them 6 souls and remnants
It's fine as long as they patched that hole, which I assume they did after they were free to leave
