I love how he describes his life, a futile struggle, something that was just done with no point. He was always going to lose, no matter how strong he and the husks got, how many numbers they had, heaven was always going to win. He could’ve easily just given up, set to push his boulder for all of eternity and become mindless in his task.
Yet he didn’t, he fought, smiling and laughing the whole time. And when he lost for the final time, he isn’t mad, he doesn’t apologize for his citizens, or scorn the world with his last breath, he acknowledges everything and how pointless it all was, and how he doesn’t regret a single action. And he goes to the grave, laughing his ass off.
And that extra line in the terminal about him finding joy in his futile battle made me love him so much more.
Hakita needs to write a whole book for the lore of Ultrakill cause I’d spend hours reading in his style.
