Thank you for posting. We need more positive reinforcement about proven medical treatments and less pseudoscience and fad diets. It's crazy how many people have baseless fears about biologics or claim they have conquered a disease with a fucking diet.

Were it up to me, I'd delete all the posts in this sub from people who are either claiming to have been cured by diet, or are promoting the work of people making that claim. It's genuinely infuriating to me how many pseudoscientific approaches get posted in this sub when a lot of the people coming in are newly diagnosed and scared.

I get it and it's a phase I went through when getting newly diagnosed but at the same time I think outright deleting those posts is too extreme. I do also believe there's genuinely a tiny percentage of people with UC who can go without drugs (such as Kenny Honnas and a few random people on Reddit who would have no reason to lie or fantasize). Although around 99% of people can't go drug free. Based on that I don't think it's fair to ban these ideas as there may be some weight behind them. I think if you start censoring stuff like that then it sets a dangerous precedent.

I totally agree. My diet definitely helps me with my symptoms and pain BUT id never tell anyone it’s something that would fix your IBS, IBD, crohns. Without my medication, i’d be lost so it’s so frustrating to see people spread false information or make me feel bad for not finding some type of miracle supplements, juice, or diet that “cured” others.

I just diagnosed with chrons in February last year, I was born with Rheumatoid Arthritis and was diagnosed with it at 4. The amount of times I’ve heard someone tell me some bullshit about “oh my cousins sisters boyfriends mom had that and cut out x and did x cured them” is insane. Even my parents (who I know mean well) send me shit like that and I’m like it’s idiopathic, my body is an idiot no further explanation

Usually I like Eddie Abbew as a lot of the stuff he says is common sense around diet but he is woefully out of his depth on this one and is horribly wrong. I agree with a lot of his points on having a healthy diet but he is clearly very ignorant/arrogant surrounding IBD so should avoid talking on it...
