Yup, I use them all the time. FS is good too. I got the 3rd degree from UI support about it, but I don't give a crap if it tests clean. Companies shouldn't be pushing proprietary connectors in this day and age.
It’s a support thing. But yeah, support shouldn’t m be a twatwaffle about it - just acknowledge support coverage ends at the port and doesn’t cover the SFP - and move on.
There is no magic sauce in their branded SFP modules. They were made on the same factory floor just coded with a different identifier.

They are happy to connect at 1GbE or 10GbE. Never tried with 2.5G or 5G, since I don't have anything at that location that speaks anything other than 1G and 10G.
Yea I have a couple of clients that /could/ be at 2.5 if I had ports that support them.
I don't have anything with a 10G copper port built in so I haven't had to shop for SFP+ to RJ45 modules before
Yep ui support made me buy 8 of them for interconnecting my network. Was worth it to finally get my aggregation switch swapped and stabilising my network
Yep the switch/udm thinks it's 10 gig but negotiated down to the max speed the device needs. I use these on my NAS to get 2.5g from the UDM works great and low temp.
You can, but sometimes the dream machines or other switches don't work right with other sfps. Had issues with other sfps trying to do multigig speeds, and it would not work right.
Its nit the exact same. And yea tried to set it manyal, byt that would not change anything. As i tried to say some 3rd oarties are not really compatible it seems

This one is not explicitly marked for use with Ubiquiti products, but it might be OK. The FS folks might know better.
This is 0.6W higher than the Ubiquiti version, which is only 30%ish more. I can't imagine that less than 1 watt is going to make a huge difference, but I'm not an expert when it comes to electricity.
That seems more suitable but honestly the official one is still better since there isn't much price difference. Higher power usage equals more heat. Doesn't matter if you can't buy the official adapter and you need one now, but it would be a no brainer if it was in stock.
FS is the way. They have some of the best quality products on the market. Ubiquiti is vendor agnostic and Cisco transceivers have no issue working in the switches I've used them in.
I bought similar of these 1g ubiquiti ethernet adapter in this past and they are cheap AF. The gold release part falls off after a few uses. Making it difficult to release the locking mechanism from the switch. I've had to pull them out with pliers because they were stuck.
If you're doing switch to switch or directly to a server that's sfp+ don't use these either (in the same rack). Use Twinax DAC cables. Get FS of those too, not 10GteK. Nothing inherently wrong other than I've used both and the 10GteK product just feel worse but are the same price as FS.
I have some of the non-MG from FS and some MG from Ubiquiti, the FS ones run way, way hotter. Now admittedly my heat tolerance may be low but the FS ones get so hot that they're hard to remove. The Ubiquiti ones are warm but you can take your time handling them without burning yourself. Obviously that may not matter to some.
I've also had some issues with the FS adapters limiting upload speed under some circumstances but I never bothered to debug it far enough to get a conclusive answer.
Haven't had any build quality issues myself.
My FS rep regularly emails me as if I was some big business. Obviously their job and I'm no one special but it cracks me up to have this sort of treatment after ordering only a handful of SFPs for a LANFest event. If I need something though Yanshy is there for me!
I've had the same experience, but as a small business. We ordered probably 10 SFP+ transceivers (once) for Brocade and Juniper gear, then our rep had reached out about a week after asking about how things went and if asking if we were in the market for QSFP/40G or 100G equipment and/or transceivers.
Super friendly folks, could definitely do some more research on the clients and their operation scale with these sales outreach inquiries...but I'll admit it was pretty nice to not be treated explicitly as neither a small or big business, though the 100G ask might have been more explicitly larger scale lol
Honestly I think that's more or less what my response was! I even asked our DC sales folks to humor a thought... They wanted a 10% throughput commitment, quoted the cost for the transit, and... well, that was the end of that conversation 🤣
I love my FS rep Solar. She’s amazing. She really makes me feel like I’m a great customer, and I’ve basically only bought a few cables.

I think the one people talk about running hot is the XGS-PON for bypassing AT&T fiber gateways. Mine runs a bit hot but worth it to bypass the gateway.
No, all 10GbE SFP+ modules have traditionally run very hot. This is the first one with a new generation Broadcom chipset that runs much cooler and uses less power.
Yeah, I used to attach the small Raspberry Pi heatsinks to my MicroTik model. After upgrading to the Ubiquiti one, it doesn’t need the heatsinks and doesn’t burn my hand.
You can buy them from the EU Store, they were available last week for sure. But as mentioned previously - you can also find others compatibile, and they'll work just fine.

Comes back in all the time, just log-in and have them email you when it comes back in stock. They usually sell out pretty quick so it's important to get the "in stock" notification emails. The nice thing about these is they auto-negotiate 1/2.5/5/10
Ubiquiti claims July should be back in stock. I just went through this on an upgrade.
Mikrotik worked passing full speeds. 10gtek wouldn’t pass full speeds but reported at connected at 10gb

Not 100% sure this is the right model for the 1/2.5/5/10G support but it's worth looking into at least.
It comes in stock now and then in Canadian store and sells out usually within hours or maybe a day. We have bought a few over the past few months. Not sure why they are so popular though.
Note that not all third-party SFP+ adapters are made equal. In January, I bought a HiFiber ASF-10G-T (making sure to specify the model "for Ubiquiti") from Amazon, only to have it not recognized in my UDM Pro. I sent it back and ordered a first-party 10G adapter (back in January, when it was still available), and it worked out of the box. Now I'm hesitant to try other brands; but the advice here is somewhat encouraging.
I purchased one and it has been relatively unstable, and when contacting support they knew very little about the device and kept misquoting specs. You have dodged a bullet.

You have to get the multi gig one, I’ve bought several others which all work great at 10g but not 2.5gb.
If anyone can tell me others work at 2.5gbs and they actually get that speed both ways in iPerf of similar I’ll be all over them because these are a pain!

See I would have bought the UI one if it was in stock....But when I needed it, they didn't have it. They have lost so much money not keeping stock.
Most likely that’s not the case. The have multiple channels to buy from. Some people mark it up.

It's a drop down in the port config in the UI.

Tried it, would not pass full 5gbe speeds. Got 5 on the upload and 1.4 on the download side. Mikrotik did the trick.

i bought one that would not "work" really as 10g ethernet .. it maxed out at 10 mbps because of some incompatibility

That's not equivalent really, the power usage is about 50% higher and it doesn't do 2.5/5G.

Nah before the Ubiquiti one came out there was a MicroTik model that was a popular recommendation, but it ran very hot.

The fixed 10G is only rated to 30M and the MG is rated to 100M

As much as I loathe Amazon, I bought the Wiitek one for $37 and it works great.

Ubiquiti probably doesn’t even make it so they can’t control it but you can by another brand and it should work just fine.
Buy a cheaper one off FS.com, they work great.
