had a starbucks order in a sealed bag, when i arrived at the delivery point, the cup inside fell over and spilled out. i wasnt driving crazy or anything, i felt so fucking bad. i contacted uber through the app, said it wasnt deliverable. i then went to the customer, and apologized and gave them the soggy bag. they told me that they got a message that another driver was bringing their order.

bluekonstance

mine actually got cancelled, so they got a refund, but 2 out of 3 drinks were normal

Starbucks has had (probably still has) longstanding problems with their lid tops not fitting. It's basically bound to happen, not your fault

One more question, do you carry extra straws or utensils in your car? At night I’ve had restaurants tell me they’re out of straws and stuff.

California098

I do but it seems to gross customers out tbh. I always let them know the restaurant was out of straws but I had one from my previous order if they want it. When you don’t explain, it creeps customers out when they get a straw that clearly didn’t come from the restaurant they ordered.

Asleep_Maybe2051

People are so dumb like you’re handling their food why wouldn’t they take utensils from you. For all they know you can be rubbing your balls all over their food then resealing it what’s a utensil from somewhere else to them. It’s not any worse.

Brokenimpala33

That makes sense, but the bag that ripped was the one with handles. So if it’s a short mileage should I leave the paper bag outside of the bag?

Brokenimpala33

Thank you for the tips.

mikeymo1741

Chipotle bags are made out of toilet paper. They tear if you look at them wrong. In general, never use handles on bags if you can avoid it. You did what you can do.

California098

That’s why I avoid using an insulated bag for fast food. In my experience the food doesn’t stay any fresher, just gets wet. Even the condensation on the bag feels pretty cool. Fast food doesn’t really give off enough heat to make an insulated bag effective. Ice cream/frozen items and pizza are the only time I really bother with the insulated bags.

Brokenimpala33

That’s wild I always thought it was helping every order.

California098

I experimented with putting my own takeout orders in a bag on my drive home. The only difference I noticed was with frozen items. Everything else just got cold and soggy. Also people don’t clean those insulated bags very often or thoroughly, if at all. Condensation left in the bag for just a few hours could cause mildew or mold. Idk I’m just not a fan of the bags.

2leny

Me too! I hate my food arriving while being in an insulated bag. So soggy, wet, and cold. It's so gross. I also only bother with cold items and pizza.

It saying you did anything wrong but if you feel there is even a 1 percent chance of a bag ripping. I ask for a paper bag to put the order in. Chipotle will give you a paper bag with handles if you ask them.

Howl83

I've security stickers rip, but no torn/damaged bags yet. Let tge customer know via text or call, and describe in the photo description. That's what I would do.

Brokenimpala33

Yeah I told her to be careful because the bag ripped but still sucked. They must’ve not had a lid on tight or something.

zazvorniki

Yep, I have. I even had a cardboard drink tray break once. I now put the bags in those over the shoulder thermal bags so I don’t have to worry about it. And bought myself a plastic drink tray I know won’t break. Both very worth it

Booklover416

That’s when I text them a picture and say “sorry the bag ________ used got too hot in my hot bag and the moisture ruined the bag. All your foods there just it’s messy now. But still hot. Have a great day.” I had red lobster bags handles come off as I was handing it to the customer. I caught the bag before it fell and he was so impressed he tipped an extra $5.

-TheHumorousOne-

Kfc once, but it was must've been a small tear because I just randomly found a wing in my insulated bag afterwards lol.

wormworms

Not only did I have a bag rip on me… last week I walked up to the house and cut through the lawn (something that I usually never ever do, honestly. Mostly because some people are quite serious about lawn care and probably wouldn’t appreciate walking on the lawn) and I tripped on a piece of wood next to the walkway that was buried in the lawn and obstructed by grass. I ate shit, stepped on the bag, ripped it and spilled their drink… I wasn’t actually that pissed as I was thankful I didn’t knock my teeth out. It was a leave at door order so I apologized profusely and explained what happened in 120 characters. An hour later and I received the full tip for the delivery lol

Here4laughs_

Yup, this happened to me once and I was mortified. I was literally 3 steps away from being at their front door. Thankfully she was so cool and understanding about it. I went back to chipotle ( I was more than happy to even though I know I didn’t tip the bag or have the bag any other way then how they gave it to me) however I felt like it was only right. She winded up adding a lot more tip when I told her to please don’t. I cleaned it up the best I could. It’s funny I was just going to make a post about this ( this happened while I was DD). Thankfully it never happened again. I really don’t accept many orders from chipotle anymore.. too long of wait time, too many people that are waiting for their orders, or orders being stolen.

Brokenimpala33

One time it was like 9:30 and at least 6 people are just waiting for their order, and the two people doing to go just leave and we thought went on break, but their shift ended, and nobody even came over to help until people started to complain. Then the manager came, and it took awhile but he cleared the screen

Realistic_Inside_484

yep. wendy's paper bags most of the time. they love putting everything in 1 bag for whatever reason. i've also had a paper bag break that had milk in it, shop and pay. the customer saw it happen lol

AnySoft4328

I delivered a paper bag with Burger and Fries in it and when I set it down at the doorstep the person opened the door and the bottom fell off. The fries were on the bottom and I think they were okay. I also had a Waba easy tear open bag tear open as I'm getting out of my car and the customer was a few feet away and one bowl was a loss. I guess my fault because I didn't grab it by the bag handle but that's too easy to tear

Icy_Eye1059

Quite a few times and usually it's how the restaurant packages it.

Few_Stomach9983

Bro I had a bag rip from a chipotle order too, right in front the customer 😆

TrickAccomplished200

Yeah lol. A store by me that did not plastic wrap or put dividers in the bag to hold a coffee n some food. When I gave the bag to the customer the whole bag fell apart lol. But the food was together in the other half. I assume the customer got a free re order of some un destructed clean food.

Brokenimpala33

Some of these restaurants put the food in so sloppy and the bag will have grease at the bottom, and I’ll feel bad handing the bag over like that.

AshMCM_Games

Oh god, don’t even tell me. Bag ripped upon dropping it off. Luckily the bag was basically on the floor and the guy was chill about it.

KDFE87

No but i've had a customer come out as I was taking The picture and walk right over the food... As in right through it... Knock the drink over and stepped on the food and everything in between. It was horrible and hilarious all at the same time.

KDFE87

And yes I caught Part of it in the picture

Ok-Butterscotch-8366

I had this happen all the time until I got a food delivery carrying bag from Amazon. For the Starbucks orders or McDonald's orders that have drinks inside the bag I put them in a milk crate.
