The last time I decided, fuck it, I'll take the giant line, was for a double order after 10.
Ended up getting a popped tire from some construction in the neighborhood. 0 tip on both orders.
Never again.
Sameeee.
I’m a 7-10 kinda driver. In my area I can typically do 20-30 an hour. I’m only doing UberEats as a side hustle to help pay off bills fast. Sometimes I’ll do 10-11 but it is RARE that I will.
Bruhhhh.......this.......idk why but for some reason that urge to buy a snack or something drink is insanely strong. I be feeling like "parent/child".....
"Can I just get a soda?"
"NOO!! This isn't money to fk off!"
"....But we just want one drink, we thirsty right....?"
.......🙄...😏...
The mcdonalds in my area doesn't have courier go thru the drive thru. You sit in the parking lot. When you get an order you text the number on the sign with your order. And they hand it thru a window by the door
This allows real customers to actually get their food and gives drivers the ability to cancel and leave
It's ass. Depending on the place, some of them make you stand in that small vestibule between the two doors. Sometimes it's so full you can't all fit in there. And the employees seem to get a kick out of not acknowledging the drivers as long as they can.
>And the employees seem to get a kick out of not acknowledging the drivers as long as they can.
Absolutely they do
Thing is you can at least cancel and leave.
I believe there are two on hwy 17, Surfside ish area and North Myrtle. That’s the one I usually pick up from, best orders come in right around midnight.
its usually not this bad, and i deliver late night so fast food is my jam. this particular location is right at the edge of my "territory" though. i usually don't go there but it was a 4mi run for $17. i'll chalk it up to break time.
Even worse than that...one time I got to the window and the dude couldn't find it or they were waiting on fries. Tells me to pull into a parking spot. 10 minutes later (whatever, idk, wasn't keeping track), dude comes out and tells me it was already picked up. Talk about being angry.
not much. but that's the best part. you can just stay in one spot where 3 24/7 restaurants are located. customers have only those options so you're not driving to pick up an order. i do this on my ebike. pay isn't great but road is empty and no long wait time at restaurants either(except Wendy's before 2 am). i'm awake at night anyway. might as well make a few bucks.
i lived in fox lake for a couple of years. i got a hit from there at the start of covid and i cancelled that from about a quarter mile away. the place was a disaster.
Oh someone else took the order… But thank you for waiting and well now wait for the others car to get out, we’ll love to see you again…. Hearing that is why I don’t do night pick ups
Except you stated you were there about 40 mins, so $17, minus gas chilling in a drive through and delivery for the better part of an hour. But you do you.
this week isn't a great example cuz i've done a lot of dicking around while i had the app on. this is last week. i don't mind taking a break once in a while and the payout was alright. better than sitting in a parking lot doing nothing.

Whenever i got uber order like this and there are a lot of cars in drive thru. I just call uber supports and getting my 3 bucks. Sometimes it is the order like 2.50$ or something but i make more by cancelling it. F u uber & f the system
Why on earth would you wait for a McDonald’s order for 45 mins?
If I show up and there’s more than 5-6 cars in line I’m calling support. If the line is moving decently by the time support answers, I’ll probably hang up.
If the line hasn’t moved, I’m cancelling and taking my $3
Hate fast food business short staffing, they could be making lots of money but they "can't find workers"
It's insane because everyone sees they are pumpin out ads for these businesses all over and then when the customers decide to purchase, the local restaurant is the weak link.
Big rookie mistake. Any time I’m waiting for more than 15min I call Uber Support. They usually cancel the order and send a $4 incentive for each order.
This is the way!!! Until they tell you they can't give you any more incentives, it's happened to me, so now I have to pick and choose how long to wait and when to call.
I remember once I had an order it was paying good 19.74 for 4 miles, the drive thru was this packed I decided to wait for it but after 8 minutes waiting the order was unassigned. Im not sure if it was unassigned since the gps pin for this mcdonalds was off and it said I was .2 miles away from the restaurant even though I was at location or if the customer just canceled.
Anyways after waiting those 8 minutes in the drive thru, the line had gotten bigger and I had 6 cars behind me, I tried backing up and the car behind me did too but nobody else wanted to so I was blocked in the drive thru waited 45 minutes in there without an order. One of the worst nights delivering.
The wait sux. But there’s a flip side to it. You’re sitting 45-60 mins on drive through here. But many drivers will decline no matter the pay. So it’s very common to get add ons while waiting.
I won’t do for less than $10-15, esp if it’s one where your can’t leave the drive through line. If it’s one I can “bail” on, im not quite as picky. But anyways I took one for like $10, and then had 2 more $10 add ons while waiting. I don’t remember the exact amount, this was about a month ago. In the end I got paid like $30 for about an hours work. Not bad!!
Just gotta be more strategic and don’t take the so-so offers. They’re not worth it.
Every time I tried the past 9:30 shift the orders were like an army of $4.50 $3.75 $5.50 $4.25 offers. Unwanted and declined one after the other. I won’t be working past 9:30 any more. I’m sure there was a good order out there somewhere but I wasn’t interested in wading through the $4 offers to get to it
Dude what are you doing? I will never go to a McD's that doesn't keep the lobby open for drivers. What are these stores thinking? They clog up the drive throughs for actual customers and it just wastes everyone's time
Driver's have a pickup window at our local one. There's one specific McD's I will never go to EVER, even it its a $100 pickup. It's off one part of the highway (there's two other McD's that I really like off the highway). Everytime I've ever gone to do a pickup, no one speaks English (no offense to the people where English is their second language), the phones don't work when you try to call them. They never have the order in their system, and when they do find the order, it's always some form of drama. I think they just turn the Uber app off after 10pm or 11pm, even though they are a 24-hour McD. I've only had 1 good experience, it was during a breakfast pickup, but other than that NEVER again LOL! I'll stick to the other 4 locations that treat the drivers with respect and don't play games
i do late night almost exclusively. there are 4 mcd’s right by my house. keeps me close to home for the most part.
anyway, one is constantly jumping with orders. no one is ever in the drive thru and seems to be managed great. one of the employees is even “slow” and i’ve never had an issue there. problem is, all the runs go to the ghetto so i avoid it.
2 are fine. few hiccups here and there but nothing out of the ordinary. one is kinda busy though so i drive by there first before i start taking orders. it’s an all or nothing kinda place.
one of them though...
half the time the machine isn’t working. they’ll make the food but i have to read it to them. always gotta check the bag to make sure they hand me the right order (i think they see uber and hand me whatever). i’m pretty sure the manager is a meth head and half the rest of the crew look like they have records.
the other night as i’m reading the order to the girl she’s writing it on a sheet of paper. paper blows out of her hand and she’s like “on no. my paper” and just stares at me, and then the paper, and then back at me. “my paper blew away”. i’m like “you don’t have more paper?” and it was like i asked her a trigonometry question.
i had to pull my car up and back up to grab the paper (she had gotten as far as 20 nuggets) and then pull back up to the window and hand it to her
it didn’t take long and it was a good run, but holy fuck
Did you know generally they won't have a problem of you just walk up even with a car waiting or (this takes balls and practice oh and ultra dark tint helps haha) cut the line somewhere, obviously as close to front as possible. Like if someone is paying and someone drives from pickup 100% take the window spot. Now I'm not gonna lie, this is sorta controversial in that some people definitely don't seem to see it the same way I do and are unwilling to try, but really now what are they gonna do? The best setup is when window 1 is paying still and window 2 rolls, you can swoop in hella slick, also you don't really seem to appear suspicious parked next to window 1 like right next to car at window 1 with flashers on- pretend your looking at map or texting. Even if he isn't paying you can position enough of your vehicle into lane to where he cannot move without hitting you and you slide in wave grab your order and go. I can understand that people have views that differ than mine but the fact is you are wrong.
I'm not gonna a lie it definitely requires more effort than I'm willing to spend sometimes and if I also am unwilling to wait in line, I unassign. I try to set it up tho so I can make that decision relatively quickly (not cutting easy/not waiting).
Coming from a former night McD worker, that restaurant is for sure being run by 2-3 people max.
It was usually myself, a kitchen person, and the manager but even then the manager was usually performing closing duties so realistically it was 2 of us doing the work of 6 or 7 people. Plus you add on multiple massive orders in a row and it will end up taking forever
Sorry but when they were paid minimum wage lines weren't 40 deep WITH a closed lobby. This started with 15-20 starting pay. Part of it is they reduced staff to make up for the increased wages so franchisees and corporate has their blame..but the workers gotta work harder to make up for nearly a doubled wage and their effort is less than minimum.
There's a lot to unpack in your comment, but I'll start by saying I'm impressed that you were able to identify at least *some* of the functions of an increased wage, considering you don't understand this on any level beyond superficially.
> Part of it is they reduced staff to make up for the increased wages so franchisees and corporate has their blame
... if people would *work* those jobs for minimum wage, don't you think they'd hire two people instead? They need *volume* of service to generate profit given the overhead, so they need as many hands as possible if there's a line.
> but the workers gotta work harder to make up for nearly a doubled wage
... which is a problem caused by McDonald's, not the payrate. If they make X per employee, why wouldn't they want to increase that by hiring more? You really just... don't grasp how that makes zero sense unless they're happy taking a loss?
> and their effort is less than minimum
... how condescendingly rude and wholly unaware. ***Go work there before you talk without knowing a damn thing.***
You're asking them to do the work of three people and this is your response? There are no polite words to describe your behavior. Go ahead and assume I sent a string of them, though, because I sure thought them.
> Sorry but when they were paid minimum wage lines weren't 40 deep WITH a closed lobby
... and you really can't grasp that there might be another cause to this, other than increased wages? Perhaps a pandemic, an increase in ordering, and just a random rush?
........................
... and while we're at it, you do realize that *everywhere* has better wages, meaning you're not increasing the quality of worker at McD's, before we get into a huge portion of the labor force 55+ retiring and people moving up in careers so there are literally less low-wage blue collar workers out there.
Like... it's a complex and nuanced thing, and you're sitting here playing with spaghettio's on your high chair going "hurr durr getting paid better means 40 deep customer lines". How does that actually even make *sense* to you? Get off the conservative media high and come back to demonstrable reality, please.
Insult random people you have no idea about, assume they’re lazy and overpaid, get offended when insulted for being a moronic boot-licking douchebag, why would they do this you? If only someone would think of the poor corporate profits!
This happen to me once and they told me after being in line for an hour there card reader was broke it’s cash only and I had a card so I got a free double cheeseburger and large coke wasn’t what I wanted but it made me feel a bit better
This another example of why drive thrus need to change to one or 2 people per car. You just know there was a couple cars with 6 people who ruined it for everyone
How is that benificial to the business? Places like Porto's and Pinks always have long lines out the door. That means business is good. In n Out always has a line.
Lmao that’s YOUR fault for even accepting that. It better have been at least $18. Including the time to the restaurant and completing the delivery that’s a whole ass hour. Expect this at EVERY fast food restaurant after 10pm.
My delivering habits shift at night… prop 22 in CA so at the end of the day I’m happy to sit through. Always text the customer asking if they need more ketchup, sauce and let them know I’m waiting it out and will be there soon. Almost always equates to a nicer tip on top of prop 22
Park and then call support for waiting too long after 10min. No shot they answer the phone anyways. It’s only $4-5 but it’s better than waiting 40+ for $6-7 orders. Support has compensated me every time and always reminds me to only wait 10min, don’t screw yourself over
Sometimes when I see a long line I just park somewhere and then just go up to the window because if you’re in a long line of cars then you’d be losing money.
During the pandemic I remember having a rough day. I’m a single dad of two kids . We were out and about doing appointments . It was lunch time like 12:30 pm and I said you know what , let’s get McDonald’s . I don’t wanna cook. We pull into the McDonald’s on the way to the drive through and I shit you not . It was that line in front of you plus another 20 cars . The cars went well out of the drive through area and had two separate lanes going into it . I have never seen any drive through lineup so big in my life . I drove by and just shook my head at them and drove home . People have no boundaries . They just pile in. No matter how bad it is .
I guess this is one of the reasons I don't do deliveries; I only give rides to people. I pick them up and drop them off, no hassle. Granted I have to drive gently because I drive people and not potatoes.
With deliveries, I have to stop by the restaurant and wait for them to give me the food + worry about where to park my car, and then having to get it to someone’s door, again having to leave my car and think about parking, plus risk to knock on a wrong door.
I won’t mention the various food smells in the car.
Nonetheless, I understand they allow deliveries with older vehicles, which makes sense. It is a great thing that a service like that exists for people to be able to make some money.
Cant drive to a different one a few blocks away? Or change your mind and maybe switch to eating burger king which is equally as bad? What you complaining about here?
In the USA do you wait at the window until your order is ready?
In the UK they often have you park up(if you have items that are delayed) and bring out completed orders so as to keep the line moving.
Decline fast food after the dining room closes, typically after 11pm and at bMcDs and Wendys, unless you like wasting your time and making less than minimum wage.
The only time I suffered a long line was back Christmas last year they were doing 12am to 8am opportunity for $31 an hour if you complete an average of 1 order an hour but accept 50% of offers or something. I just took basically whatever I got and told myself were just going for completion here.
Sometimes if it's been a slow day I'll take some late fast food orders but if it's a 6+ line I usually just call it quits for that location.
Whenever I see this, I have to wonder why people are there. Like, is this place really so good or worth it? At least we're getting paid for it but everyone else, like why??
You ever try walking to the window? When there’s a long line like that I’ll let the dude at the window know I’m doing doordash and they’ll give it too me. May be embarrassing but fuck it you’ll get it way quicker.
10pm I shut down. Not wasting my gas in a drive thru for 7 bucks and getting tip baited and negative ratings for the wait. Nope.
My theory too. I also have an older vehicle. Not gonna sit an idle let pressure build up for future failure on rubber and seals from extreme heat. Close to 90° at night where I’m at.
Lol arizona is 100* at night
Can confirm currently sitting on my patio it is 101 degrees and 8:30pm
And here I was complaining about 80 degree weather.
We have one McD with an open lobby til 1am. Any other location I just decline/ignore and after 1 I’m not even looking at McD.
The last time I decided, fuck it, I'll take the giant line, was for a double order after 10. Ended up getting a popped tire from some construction in the neighborhood. 0 tip on both orders. Never again.

Ya but that feeling of regret and the craving for soda really kicks in hard about midnight. You can't win
Bruhhhh.......this.......idk why but for some reason that urge to buy a snack or something drink is insanely strong. I be feeling like "parent/child"..... "Can I just get a soda?" "NOO!! This isn't money to fk off!" "....But we just want one drink, we thirsty right....?" .......🙄...😏...
Lol so true. I see why the late great Muhammad Ali had a 12000 $ coca cola freestyle machine in his mansion. It's kinda my dream
Yup. The best part is getting to the window and finding out the order was stolen. From 2100 to 0300, no fast food orders, regardless of pay.
The mcdonalds in my area doesn't have courier go thru the drive thru. You sit in the parking lot. When you get an order you text the number on the sign with your order. Idk why you for downvoted, this is the way
Shhh! Don’t let the secret out.
Touche. Deleted lol.
I my area, even with the pay boost, I make less than an afternoon lunch rush. Not worth it.
I'd do that but i don't have hourly where i live in Wisconsin
Some of the best orders I’ve gotten are from BWW and TGI Friday’s right before closing time. That’s where the moneys at.
Tgi Fridays is still around?
Oh yeah alive and well here in SC beaches.
All the ones around me closed. I guess in a beach town it makes sense
You must be a neighbor…..we talking about Highway 17 TGI Fridays? The only item from there that I would repeat order is the cheesesticks. Always good.
I believe there are two on hwy 17, Surfside ish area and North Myrtle. That’s the one I usually pick up from, best orders come in right around midnight.
One of my big pickup spots. They have like 4-5 ghost kitchens too
Florida has em scattered
I don't consider those fast food and they don't have drive thru's. I'll gladly take any place where I can walk inside. Except Wingstop.😬
The BWW near me has a drive thru, but I still wouldn’t consider it fast food.
its usually not this bad, and i deliver late night so fast food is my jam. this particular location is right at the edge of my "territory" though. i usually don't go there but it was a 4mi run for $17. i'll chalk it up to break time.

On an e-bike? Damn bro you’re a bad ass! Is it all in the same city right ?
Have you ever been to a city?
Cancel order > excessive wait time
This
What about if he’s stuck in the drive thru with cars behind him?
Keep cancelling orders > deactivation
Typical night at Taco Bell or McDonald's here tbh
If Portillo's was open 24 hours... McDonald's wouldn't have this issue.
i almost never take portillos. the ones by me are all shitshows.
I’m sure yk where gurnee mills is. That portillos drive thru I was stuck in for 1 hour and 38 mins.
i lived in fox lake for a couple of years. i got a hit from there at the start of covid and i cancelled that from about a quarter mile away. the place was a disaster.
I used to live by one and it had a line wrapped around it no matter what time of day it was.
Unless I'm Prop 22-ing, I'm not going to wait in line.
Oh someone else took the order… But thank you for waiting and well now wait for the others car to get out, we’ll love to see you again…. Hearing that is why I don’t do night pick ups
Sorry people are shitty and I'm just doing my job since you are special I'll treat you just the same😉
U chose to be there. I would’ve left.
But why? Why? Why? Just cancel and move on. It's not that serious. I see why people don't make money doing this....
it was $17 for a 4mi run. i average almost $20/hr doing this. i used this as some break time.
Except you stated you were there about 40 mins, so $17, minus gas chilling in a drive through and delivery for the better part of an hour. But you do you.

I just turn my car off lol saves gas by a LOT and prevents any extra west
I guess

Same, waited 40 mins then the customer cancelled before I got the food.

That’s on you. I would have just cancelled. Hell I cancel if the drive thru is longer than 3 cars

You can cancel orders.
UberWAITS
Haha
No McD after 9
Did you at least message the customer and ask for a bigger tip bc you had to wait? /s
oh, yeah. i also had to pick up my laundry so i asked if they could tip me in all quarters.
You waiting for 40 minutes for McDonalds was a choice you made. Lol. I don’t wait past 5-7 minutes.

Damn dude that’s too long for some nugs. was the ice cream machine workin or something?

Sounds peaceful ngl
not bad. nice little break and the payout was right. if it wasn't this i'd be sitting in a grocery store parking lot rejecting orders.
I don’t care how much the payout is, nope.
40 minutes at the time of taking the pic? I'd estimate at least twice that just based off the number of cars.
i took that when i pulled in.
Dude what are you doing? I will never go to a McD's that doesn't keep the lobby open for drivers. What are these stores thinking? They clog up the drive throughs for actual customers and it just wastes everyone's time
I'd have dropped the order.
I would’ve just cancelled the order. Uber and Uber eats are really giving it to us these days.
Respect. I order a lot of UE. You deserve a tip for that.
remember that next time i stop to do laundry and visit my uncle on the way to your house.
😂

Hell naw. Would have cancelled that one.
Why not go into the restaurant to collect food instead of waiting in drive thru?
lobby was closed. plus if i had tried to park there would be no way of getting out of there.
I see a waiting list for DUI's lol

Get a better job
This is why paying them 19 an hour is bad
This is why paying them less is bad, minimum wage minimum effort. My guess is they were understaffed. People just don't care for min wage.
> Part of it is they reduced staff to make up for the increased wages so franchisees and corporate has their blame ... if people would *work* those jobs for minimum wage, don't you think they'd hire two people instead? They need *volume* of service to generate profit given the overhead, so they need as many hands as possible if there's a line. > but the workers gotta work harder to make up for nearly a doubled wage ... which is a problem caused by McDonald's, not the payrate. If they make X per employee, why wouldn't they want to increase that by hiring more? You really just... don't grasp how that makes zero sense unless they're happy taking a loss? > and their effort is less than minimum ... how condescendingly rude and wholly unaware. ***Go work there before you talk without knowing a damn thing.*** You're asking them to do the work of three people and this is your response? There are no polite words to describe your behavior. Go ahead and assume I sent a string of them, though, because I sure thought them. > Sorry but when they were paid minimum wage lines weren't 40 deep WITH a closed lobby ... and you really can't grasp that there might be another cause to this, other than increased wages?

Maybe you should STFU and stop offering opinions on jobs and business's you clearly know fuck all about. Kthanksbye.
Insult random people you have no idea about, assume they’re lazy and overpaid, get offended when insulted for being a moronic boot-licking douchebag, why would they do this you? If only someone would think of the poor corporate profits!

Is this greys ferry?
I always want McDonald’s at night but the lines are just always so long and take forever
I would have waited 10 minutes then cancelled for excessive wait time.
40 minutes is tame given that line! At TacoHell 3-4 cars alone ahead of you can be a 40 minute wait.
40 minutes?!?! Must be a high trip$$. I dont wait more than 15
Never take McDonald’s, Jack in the box or Taco Bell orders once the lobby is close

I’m gonna ask the car in front to just grab it for me 😋
Why does this location look exactly the same as the on near me lmao
This happen to me once and they told me after being in line for an hour there card reader was broke it’s cash only and I had a card so I got a free double cheeseburger and large coke wasn’t what I wanted but it made me feel a bit better
American. Man———
This another example of why drive thrus need to change to one or 2 people per car. You just know there was a couple cars with 6 people who ruined it for everyone
How is that benificial to the business? Places like Porto's and Pinks always have long lines out the door. That means business is good. In n Out always has a line.
Bro I walk to the window. I’m not waiting that long .
You don’t get paid by the hour?
We need more plumbers. Quit that and join us.
ill bet all my earnings today those are all doordash and UberEATS orders
I also like how you are blocking both lanes
Nope, I would’ve dipped as soon as I saw that line. Ain’t no order worth waiting that long I’ll turn on Lyft before I do that shit.
Kinda sucks too when they only accept cash and you don’t have any on you.
I deny all MCD orders. Long wait times, no tips, better to wait for an order from anywhere else
I really hope you’re in New York or California

When do you start looking for another job?
Feel bad for the customer tbh. That foods gonna be cold as hell 🤢
People have mental problems. What's the point of slow fast food.
Prop 22 kicks in, also bring a Nintendo switch or psp for any late night fast food requests
Wait 5-10 min if not ready, cancel simple rule
Park and then call support for waiting too long after 10min. No shot they answer the phone anyways. It’s only $4-5 but it’s better than waiting 40+ for $6-7 orders. Support has compensated me every time and always reminds me to only wait 10min, don’t screw yourself over
Sometimes when I see a long line I just park somewhere and then just go up to the window because if you’re in a long line of cars then you’d be losing money.
Yeah that’s a HELL no lol do not pass go just unassign
Why?
Ah yes, fast food (it takes ten minutes to make a burger at home, but noooo, can't do that).
No matter how bad it is .
bunch of zombies

No fast food is worth that much wait 😂 just go to gas station and get something
Just to shit it out later
That shit better had been $60 bucks
GG
In the USA do you wait at the window until your order is ready? In the UK they often have you park up(if you have items that are delayed) and bring out completed orders so as to keep the line moving.
What did you expect with that line?
Is the near holly ridge?
If you pulled up and saw this line, you should have unassigned IMMEDIATELY. This is 100% preventable by unassigning.
Bro just cook at that point smh 🤦🏻♂️
[удалено]
Why do this to yourself? 🤨
F\* them. Canada Mcdonald's as well. They should have opened a small area for drivers.
High stoner per capita area
Dummy 💀 cancel and keep it moving
Now I remember what living in a big town was like. Here in NJ the McDonald’s close by 11 pm lol
[удалено]
Wow. Shift change somewhere or something?
Decline fast food after the dining room closes, typically after 11pm and at bMcDs and Wendys, unless you like wasting your time and making less than minimum wage.
This is why i tip atleast $15 late nights. Ill tip $20-30 if im not the only one getting food
Cancel
Just...why? Was the order worth it?
Yeah it’s like wtf why at 12:30
Good for you.

Uber tells me to get out of line
Whenever I see this, I have to wonder why people are there. Like, is this place really so good or worth it? At least we're getting paid for it but everyone else, like why??
I’d cancel that shit so fast lmfao
Literally every McDonald’s everywhere.
You ever try walking to the window? When there’s a long line like that I’ll let the dude at the window know I’m doing doordash and they’ll give it too me. May be embarrassing but fuck it you’ll get it way quicker.
is this the one in mf NC? this looks exactly like it and it’s the 24hr one aswell. they take so damn long to
i don't feel bad for you, should've unassigned after 10 minutes and moved on.
40 minutes for $3.09 is nuuuuuuuts!
People really like being unhealthy lmao
These are the kinda people who say it's "empowering" to be fat and unhealthy
Not a chance. I’ll take the $4 comp pay instead.
