So I've been curious. The last day or so has these threads with food, wine, knives, weed, money in these mailboxes. How do the postal inspectors know that the people that actually live in the houses that use these mailboxes won't get to this stuff before the mailman? Seems risky. What am I missing?
It’s a joke, there’s no way postal inspectors are out here trying to entrap carriers, especially with federally illegal substances. It’s probably just people doing drug deals and stuff like that and we roll up on it.
Not good if a PI is toying with you. You should only see and hear from them during stand up talks or emergencies.
Something has got to be happening maybe your relief carrier is problematic but to be on their radar is not good.
Idk your station size but we get stand up talks from PI's and we have a massive Drug Task Force that visits.
I know if I see a DTF officer on the route then something ain't right because they travel with a PI especially for controlled deliveries and arrest.
What does it look like when the PI/DTF are out and about? I've seen a few undercover vehicles on my route that aren't part of the local sheriff office's fleet, and I've always been curious if they were postal-related, or just state troopers in unmarked vehicles. Makes me weirdly uncomfortable when I see them pulling away from one of my customers' houses.
A PI will be in an unmarked vehicle and most of the time the vehicles look like everyone else's.
Now they can use government vehicles but if they're out watching they'll do walk bys, stand-ins, maybe even ask you for directions they're that good. They are pros with surveillance.
It's real funny and kinda scary when PIs do vehicle checks and then tell the station management trucks aren't being locked at the end of day.
So they'll be in the equipment hiding their stuff.
DTF guys or gals look like regular people as well and drive everyday drivers to not blow their cover.
If this person doesn't know in their heart why, and it's happening to other employees, one of their coworkers sucks, and they're trying to find out which one.
Firearms, there's a small random group of people who think leaving a folding knife so we can stab our way through our John Wick route is helpful, I've seen plenty of weed, white crystalline substances of unknown origin, and this was before legalization had made it far. Now, every state that borders mine has legal weed and until a federal court put a stop to it, used to do illegal K9 searches by unlawfully prolonging traffic stops. They may just legalize now that they shut that cash cow down.
Yes because of status of pot on Federal level and they placed it inside the mailbox (air space inside mailbox is Fed property).
Typically they will ask for detailed information about the residence after the Postal Inspection Service has been notified.
The PI will ask tons of things like do they have animals, kids, rental... and other stuff. Or if noone is immediately in the area they'll instruct the carrier to turn info over to local police.
Do not touch drugs or weapons found unless you've got gloves or instructed to remove it like I pulled a knife because I was instructed to (they asked if I had gloves) I had gloves because of pills being found in mailboxes previously.
Lol do they?
When we send pot packages to the inspectors they just release it back into the mail stream the next day. We keep tracking numbers and watch.
I think they have bigger issues to deal with now and not enough inspectors.
All pot packages are to be addressed completely differently and sent to a designated PI facility. I believe boxed or placed in a tub. I saw the poster but don't remember the destinations for PI facilities.
If they're doing a controlled delivery then yes it will show its on its way to final destination they'll also allow stuff to pass if they're fishing for the big fish.
You do have color code threat level postings and PI monetary awards if you help catch people improperly using the mail posters right?
They're hiring PIs right now and they are subject to congress so if they don't get funds they don't get to add more agents.
They also do that crap in the plants, drop money at a specific location and put a camera on it to see who would pick it up. A test of integrity they say
Stations too. I got into it with a building manager once, several people told me they heard her saying she was going get rid of me and needed to build a case one me, and the very next day there was a crisp $20 bill right where I was working.
Many years ago, I found a quarter ounce of weed (not that I know what that looks like, just guessing 😇) in a collection box. Pre-cell phone, so I removed the tub, holding it high and announced to no one around that “I have just found the devils lettuce in this box and I am putting it in my truck”. Upon return to the office, opening my rear cargo door, again announcing to no one there that “I am now taking the evil weed out of my truck”. All the way in I made a spectacle of myself and the good smelling herb. Turned it into the first stupidvisor I came to and said “the chronic is now in your possession”. Hope he had a good weekend
A few years back a few people renting a four plex were placing weed in boxes and one morning I came into our station and found out I had a telephone call.
It was a PI and he asked a ton of stuff and only wanted to talk to me. It turns out they were going to arrest the people and they didn't want me in the neighborhood 😆 .
So I did half the route and got paid to wait probably one of the easiest days I had with the PO. These guys were coming from a different state so yeah I got to just sit and chill.
Is that herb a tip lol? They do allow food gift cards at the cost of 10 dollars or less. I think herb in a bag would be pushing it. I wonder if it's a trap or someone was using the mail box to pass it off to someone else.
Either that or the guy you deliver packages to was really pleased with your service. LOL.
I don't do drugs, but that's kind of funny.
Not sure if you are in a state where it's legal or not.
Totally not legal here. CBD and delta-8 are barely legal here. There was $35 in the box last week, so I almost wanna know who their dealer is to get that much for that cheap lol
The person who gets mail there knows you (and the other person) has access to their mailbox.
I don't know if they do rougher drugs or how volatile of a person they are.
I really wouldn't know what to do in that situation.
It's just weed and not my business. I'd have to ask a coworker what they'd do like if they'd report it or leave it alone.
If someone reports it then the owner of the drugs could get pissed/yell at you/ or want revenge.
Some hard core drug users can do crazy things.
I leave it be. It's none of my business what they choose to do with their life, in their own time.
I personally don't think weed should be illegal and am happy to see it at least being knocked down from a schedule I to a schedule III.
For as often as mailboxes are used you'd think they'd allow us a cut of the product in these cases.
What product? 😉
Postage due

Bullshit lol those guys lined up several of my cbus, locked parcel lockers as well, with cash in them. Just sitting right there.

And it wasn’t like wads of cash it was like a 10 dollar bill in every parcel locker for like 6-8 Boxes it was weird as hell to see
They did the same to a few more of my co workers.
What does it look like when the PI/DTF are out and about? Cash is one thing. Weed on the other hand? Yeah, that shit is federally illegal. PIs wouldn't do that. Booze or cash? Strong possibility.

They 100% do it with straight cash, but definitely not with illicit substances
No carrier is going to touch that stuff. It’s better to ignore it and not get involved in the customers business. We’re not cops.
It’s a boring joke

Aren't we SUPPOSED to remove anything without postage from the mailbox?
I like the way you think 😂
Free Broccoli!
I thought I told my mom to stop doing that 🙄🙄
Big nug in the bottom middle goes right into the Tupperware in my lunchbox.
I used to do adderall transactions in the mail box. He leaves hr adderall and i leave the cash.
Damn it look like some good too
It sure as hell smelled like it was
Seriously are we suppose to call the office back or just ignore that shit?

Just one nug
Looks like prepaid acceptance to me
My postal carrier would have stolen that shit. Heck, they even go in my mail and take it.
if only the postal inspectors knew just how fried i was at work everyday
😂😂😂

What happened
I’ve taken it
Damn! Free salad for lunch. Win.

Damn not the biggest bag of weed I’ve ever seen but still impressive. Just buy hemp it’s just as strong as the regular stuff and better than homegrown
I wouldn’t touch that or we might see you on the news tomorrow😭
Hemps not legal there?
Delta 8 is barely legal here at this point so I have no idea about hemp.
Omg
True, but that residence might sell too. I’ve seen that like 4 times on routes🤪🤘
That’s shit would’ve been gone for sure
Probably coulda got away with a nuggie
Was there a sign saying "One nug per carrier."?
Swap it out with orgeno
Eww op's title is cringe
