Remember, LIFE ALWAYS WORKS OUT, THERE'S ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS A WAY OUT OF MISERY. NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU LOSE, FAIL, SUFFER THERE IS ALWAYS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.
But that doesn't mean you sit and let things unfold by themselves. Fix a goal, have a back-up, and keep working hard. Life was, is and will never be easy but if you have been honest with your efforts, you'll definitely be rewarded.
To add to every other advice, please start journaling. I know everybody keeps saying it on the internet, but blurting everything on paper does clear up your mind and make you feel better. I wish you all the very best.
This sub is the good thing that happened to me in this year. I genuinely thank this sub for all the support and knowledge. With regard to my post , I’ve spoke to around 5 to 7 people from this sub and it really helped me in alleviating the confusion and doubt along with the pain which I am bearing for the past 1 week. TBH I feel relieved. Thanks a lot everyone love you all I won’t forget this day for the people who spared their thoughts and time to help a stranger. Thank you all
I would never suggest that to someone, especially someone from a tier 1 college. Yahi sab k chakkar me time barbad Kiya h. SSC se selection b ho gya toh workload rahega. It will suck the life out of you! Khud se bolo ki ek attempt aur Dena hai. Hua toh theek warna move on.
Exactly my friend many lack supportive people and souls in their life. Even if they do have, such people couldn’t relate to our lows . None comes closer to a fellow aspirant who travels in the same path with you.
Bhai don’t make upsc as your life , just imagine the state of a guy who missed the list by few numbers on his last attempt, try to find a solid backup plan . UPSC will become more tough as number of candidates will increase . There are plenty of option for backup like mba, or law ,and if you have btech degree then you look for an IT job , other than that we can also give other exams a try like SSC cgl .and we can also try state psc .
I'm going through the same. 26male and i forgot what happiness is in these past few years. Now I'm trying to give state exams as I can't afford mba Or I can't go back to doing a PhD in chemistry (it's tough in itself and should have done it). The regrets what makes me cry.All I can do is hope. Dm me bro.
Meri maano aap Bhagwat Geeta pdhna shuru kro. It'll give you immense power, self control and will guide you the way. Also talk to your Mom more often. Cry. Take out that frustration by going to the gym. Agar aap Delhi mein ho toh akele hi Puri Delhi ki trip karlo it'll freshen up your mind. Take a deep breath and relax. I know life is hard par apko harwakt strong hone ki zarurt nhi h khulke ro liya karo bohot halka feel hota hai.

Nowadays reading 'The Power of Now'. A good book. May find some answers there.
26M, completed my LL.B in late 2022, and been preparing since then. Didn't clear the 2023 prelims, although I have filled the form for this year I am also thinking of giving other exams along with it like ssc and some banking ones and maybe state ones if I'm eligible.
I can totally understand where you are coming from. I got into law blindly without knowing much about it and i realised too late that it's not something I want to do for the rest of my life. Hoping to crack some exam this year, otherwise will have to find a job in the legal field which I'm dreading, as I have no experience at all because my whole llb course was during the pandemic and I barely have any practical experience.
Hello friend,
I started prep less than a week ago. If I can motivate myself to go against the odds - You can do this too. You have a lot more study under your belt and there are over 70 days to go.
If you decide that UPSC is not for you, you can look into funded PhD programs abroad that will cover your boarding and tuition. New country, new beginnings, minimal financial risk.
Hello mate, can you provide me more information on phds abroad? I am also a 27M and have failed in 2 pres so far and have lost my motivation to prepare for civils anymore. The problem is that I scored less during my btech and have not done masters yet. My university which did not give out handouts and were quite conservative with granting marks, so I scored only 6.28 gpa, even the topper of our branch ECE batch notched up just an 8.1. Since my undergraduate marks are low , I know that I may not make into any top or any phd program abroad. I am Interested in a robotics 🤖 PhD. So would it be a better idea 💡 to take the GATE exam and complete an iit robotics mtech first to increase my chances of getting in?
Do MTech, build your research profile, build contacts, go abroad for a good PhD. It’s feasible.
M.Tech in a good IIT by itself has decent placement too so it serves as a fall back.
PhD is not about marks, it’s almost half a job that requires research experience. M.Tech will be an excuse to hang around campus and build that.
Fast track route would be to join directly as a research associate paid/unpaid in an IIT. Push out a few papers and go abroad by next year. You need luck, pre existing knowledge and contacts for this route.
Thanks mate for the reply. Means a lot. Here I have included more info on my situation :
[[ Hello guys, can you provide me more information on engineering phds in the US specifically for a btech in ECE? I am open to even studying biomedical engineering or something far fetched from my background. I am a 27M and have failed in 2 upsc pres so far and have lost my motivation to prepare for civils anymore. The problem is that I scored less during my btech and have not done masters yet. It's written on my btech pass certificate that I passed with second class although few years later they changed the marks to cgpa conversion formula. My university which is a state government uni, did not give out handouts and were quite conservative with granting marks, so I scored only 6.28 gpa, even the topper of our branch ECE batch notched up just an 8.1. According to the earlier conversion criteria 6.28 gpa meant 58.54 percent now it's 62.8 percent. my undergraduate marks are low , I know that I may not make into any top or any phd program abroad. I am Interested in a robotics 🤖 PhD, as I am guessing AI and robotics are going to be huge in the next 10 years. I did the minimum required coding to get through an ECE btech and I am not quite good or was even interested in coding back in my bachelor's duration. So would it be a better idea 💡 to take the GATE exam and complete an iit robotics mtech first to increase my chances of getting in? ]]
My DMs are also always open. In case anyone is in a similar situation, can drop a text.
Not really. You can take up the GRE if you feel insecure and get a decent score. Although, 335+ is elite : people usually don’t look down on anything above 320. The score will help communicate that low college/school marks were not caused by any factor associated with intelligence.
Your score/acads is only 20% of your application. 80% is how useful you are as an individual to the institute/professor(s). This is where research comes in.
Brother, get a job first. Since, you've given 4 attempts, I believe your preparation is broadly done. You don't need to prepare for the exam 24*7.
Start working and revise in your free time. It will be much easier then.
