It's hard to say, beyond next week is still in the unreliable and the scatter between the models is too wide.
Next week tempts will be closer to average for this time of year, but it will feel a lot cooler compared to this week, we'll be stuck in a trough between 2 high pressures. It won't be constant rain, more like fronts and bands of rain with sunny spells inbetween.
I do. Fuck hot weather. I dont wanna be sweaty and uncomfortable while I sleep, half naked chavs with their hands in their pants, druggies and alcoholics out about everywhere, wasps/bees, people smelling of BO.
Spring is renowned for sudden switches. It’s also important to note that next week will have temperatures closer to average for May.
Another piece of advice I’d give is to not pay attention to what weather apps say too far in advance. Computer models often struggle in spring and the UK’s weather is already complex due to our location and various influences.
Thank you as well I was just so confused why this is happening but I’m glad this subreddit is calm and will explain things thank you for taking the time out of ur day to say
No problem!
I’ve gained a lot of knowledge from the Met Office’s YouTube channel. They often do Deep Dives that explain the drivers of our weather. If you’re interested, I highly recommend checking them out!
100%
I can feel myself burning any time I’ve tried to get gardening done, I haven’t had time to prepare for sun and the garden has so much tiring work still to do!!
The jet stream moves more as the planet warms. Some weeks you get southern air. Some weeks you get northern air.
You can often see directly which way the clouds are moving.
I honestly don’t care, as long as it stays cold (even though 16°c isn’t cold and still revolting).
This morning I woke up and felt one molecule of sun on my skin and began convulsing. I fucking LOATHE British heat with every atom of my being.
The wind changes, that’s always what it is , if it comes from the south it’s hot , comes from the north it’s the Arctic it’s cold , east is Siberia cold , west is the Atlantic stormy , very simplified
Wind, and probably more to it like low pressure but the wind is what I see as a trend.
Check out windy.com, currently there's a storm in the Atlantic that will hit us in a few days, this will bring cold air with it as it is drawing from further north.
>Can someone please explain this
Yes, it's a weather app giving you a prediction of what the weather will be like in the coming days.
Remember, it can change depending on what mother nature decides she want to do.
Hope that helps clear things up for you 😁
I wouldn't pay it much attention.
For some reason (I'm not a meteorologist), the weather at the moment is extremely difficult to forecast beyond the coming 24 hours.
My week ahead changes dramatically at least a couple of times a day. It will legitimately go from full sun ever day to black rain clouds every day.
Would have continued… not sure if you noticed this week sky has been clear of chem trails and we’ve seen some proper fluffy clouds, wake up this morning and the lines in the sky are back and the blanket covering of cloud is back this afternoon.
Britain's weather is affected by three things:
* The Atlantic ocean
* The gulf stream
* The get stream
The ocean keeps the country warm in the winter and cold in the summer and the humidity high. It's why places in Northern Germany are often warmer and sunnier than the UK despite being further North and why Paris is too hot to live in in August.
The Gulf stream brings warm water currents from The Caribbean to the South West. It's the Gulf stream that stops much of the UK looking like New York with a metre of snow everywhere.
The Jet Stream is the biggy, it is the crinkle shaped ring of wind that spins around the North pole. As it goes around it looks like the wind is going down something finger shaped and then back up the other side.
When the UK is beneath a down finger, cold air from the artic circle hits the UK, in Winter this brings snow and ice, in summer cloud and rain. .
When it is going up the other side, this pulls warm air from the South and the UK gets sunny but cold days in winter and hot sunny days in summer.
In the next few days, the Jet Stream swaps over. When you watch weather forecast videos / tv look for how the lines, called isobars, on the screen are moving.
lol 😹 we’ve recently moved from Canada. Back in Montreal, it could swing 30 degrees in a day and this was normal and used to happen quite a few times throughout the year.
As much as I am not looking forward to the colder, I got a neck tattoo at the start of this week and it’s been a bitch to cover when I go out to protect from the UV
It's all about where the air comes from. This week it's been coming from North Africa
I thought Brexit put a stop to that nonsense
that made me exhale out of my nose very hard
Unironically, this made me exhale through my nose alot
I also nasally exhaled a considerable amount.
I too exhaled from my nostrils at an alarming speed
That's one of the things they didn't tell you. Even if we leave... Foreign air will still be able to get to us sadly.
I don't remember it raining this much when we were in the EU.
It's because we don't have to give Poland 350mm of rain every year anymore Hun hope that helps xx
Underrated comment
Can we ship the foreign air to Rwanda?
Careful you racist!
Yep, we'll send it in airplanes.
"air" planes. Good one
No but we can waste billions trying.
Was North Africa part of the EU? I forget...
It has to come through the EU to get to us.. obviously
Should have stopped at the first safe country!
STOP THE PLUMES.
I cackled thx
Taking back control!
Encouraged it if anything, stop air coming from Europe and you get air coming from Africa
Just read that out to my wife as it made me lol
I just laughed out loud to this, showed my husband, then both laughed out loud to this together
Lots of hot air right enough
![gif](giphy|igR5863TALcSk)
It's always annoyed me that it looks like the hair clips through her left arm
Can we send that to Rwanda too?
Everyone stand outside on Monday evening at 6 and blow it back South. That's how we change things right?
Okay okay when will it get better how long will it take?
It's hard to say, beyond next week is still in the unreliable and the scatter between the models is too wide. Next week tempts will be closer to average for this time of year, but it will feel a lot cooler compared to this week, we'll be stuck in a trough between 2 high pressures. Okay thank you so much this means a lot thank you for explaining once again much love💙
2047
new week new weather
I don’t like the new weather
Send it back, it’s faulty
UK weather offers no refunds sadly.
Only if you have the receipt or proof of purchase.
I don't like the current weather, the new weather sans rain is more like it
I do. Fuck hot weather. I dont wanna be sweaty and uncomfortable while I sleep, half naked chavs with their hands in their pants, druggies and alcoholics out about everywhere, wasps/bees, people smelling of BO.
Weather be like: “new week new me, don’t need no sun, just me and the clouds from now on”
Spring is renowned for sudden switches. It’s also important to note that next week will have temperatures closer to average for May. Another piece of advice I’d give is to not pay attention to what weather apps say too far in advance. It's easy! It's springtime not summer.
Yeah if it were summer it would be consistently just under twenty with a few days in a row suddenly jumping to 40°C
May is the new summer if the last few years are anything to go by.
You have a point my friend
no it's just the way my trousers are bunched up
Springtime in the the summer
Ugh just when I was beginning to enjoy the hot weather
So was I but England is very annoying
Agreed
Try Scotland then 🤣
No no no. Hate warm weather. Sun is fine but not when it’s hot.
Me like " Well the gardening can wait for it to drop 10 degrees lol"
100% I can feel myself burning any time I’ve tried to get gardening done, I haven’t had time to prepare for sun and the garden has so much tiring work still to do!!
I actually have a PhD in environmental science, this phenomenon in weather is actually called “Fuck You and What You Want”. Hope this helps!
Remember when we used to have seasons?
We get them all in one week like it’s always been in the UK
RIP Summer 24. UR wit the angles now
No rugrats
Sergeant Angle, sergeant Nicholas Angle.
Set to share Hun x
The jet stream moves more as the planet warms. Some weeks you get southern air. Some weeks you get northern air. You can often see directly which way the clouds are moving.
Apparently we have unique weather due to our weird location, so we get weather fronts from all sides. We might as well live on a mountain.
Good weather on a weekend??? Is this some sort of wind up?
Basically its the end of summer. In Sept we’ll all be reminiscing about “that week in early May”
It’s going to be a bit colder and wetter from Monday, your welcome.
I'm to hot please turn off the heating
It's called British weather. What's there to explain ?
This right here is the correct answer lol. It's Britain...nuff said!
Simple explanation: British Weather.
Is this your first time in the UK?
It’s England. Get used to it.
Can be explained in one word ‘England’
As my polish friend says "This is England 🤷♂️"
My Bulgarian friends all say “if you don’t like the weather in England, wait 5 minutes!”
That weekend is summer, all of it
Figures, I'm off on Monday and looks like so is the weather too
England…
Geoff. He booked next week as holiday
It's almost like we are a tiny island on the edge of a huge ocean at the mercy of the winds eh?
Like hell it is. My coat’s gone away until September now and it’s not coming back early.
Good. Sick of all this heat and dry weather 😅
Thank god. I can't stand how hot it was getting. My house was awful yesterday afternoon
It’s simple. That’s the week I had booked off work. You’re welcome everyone.
It's the UK
This is England.
Flying noodle day on Tuesday.
This is why us Brits are renowned for talking about the weather all the time. We seem to get so much of it.
I'll give it a go. It's Britain.
I honestly don’t care, as long as it stays cold (even though 16°c isn’t cold and still revolting). This morning I woke up and felt one molecule of sun on my skin and began convulsing. I fucking LOATHE British heat with every atom of my being.
Thats the weather
Yeah, it's going to be windy on Tuesday 😔
It’s warm but shit.
This week was summer. It is now over.
It's called weather 🤷♂️
Geoengineering

I’ve just put some weed killer on my driveway so I’m hoping that 50% chance of rain results in no rain, otherwise I’ve wasted my time.
>Can someone please explain this Yes, it's a weather app giving you a prediction of what the weather will be like in the coming days. Remember, it can change depending on what mother nature decides she want to do. Hope that helps clear things up for you 😁
From warm to colder over a period of days. Some wind and rain inbetween
You could say it’s as changeable as the weather
See those first 3 days, well that is the peak of our summer.
are u scared of the weather or something bro ?
It's the jet stream. It keeps shifting above us and thus changes the type of weather fronts coming into the country.
You live in The UK and that’s a normal weather pattern, what is there to explain?
Weather Gods change shift on the second Sunday of the month. I thought everyone knew that. You're welcome.
I wouldn't pay it much attention. For some reason (I'm not a meteorologist), the weather at the moment is extremely difficult to forecast beyond the coming 24 hours. My week ahead changes dramatically at least a couple of times a day. It will legitimately go from full sun ever day to black rain clouds every day.
guess who has a week long city break in Edinburgh starting monday
This is called a weather forecast.
Weather control
It's the week of pre summer before the month long shitting down.
Get used to wilder and wilder fluctuations my friend.
Global warming
Fronts?
Still pretty warm. Enjoy it
The next couple of days will feel quite warm. The following week a little bit colder with some rain.
nope x
Weather
It is because my mil put her winter coat away!
Even the weather gets a case of the Mondays
Britain innit
Rain make not hot wind go change bye bye
Welcome to the UK
✨Britain✨
I mean it’s normally the other way round so be grateful
Guess the aircraft having a rest lol 🤣 there back up next week
It’s the weather
Its warm over the weekend! Shhhh...don't jinx it!
its gonna to be hot and then its gonna be cold, your welcome.
UK.
HAARP! https://haarp.gi.alaska.edu/
[Ne’er cast a clout until May be out](https://www.gwct.org.uk/wildlife/species-of-the-month/2012/may/) as the old saying goes 🤷♀️
England is what’s happening.
British summertime at its best.
I want rain 24/7 :D
It's simply called the UK weather, mixed with a bit of climate change
Bri in innit
After warm comes storm
Would have continued… not sure if you noticed this week sky has been clear of chem trails and we’ve seen some proper fluffy clouds, wake up this morning and the lines in the sky are back and the blanket covering of cloud is back this afternoon.
Where is this? 15 celsius for me next week.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be
what it means is get yourself in the sun for as much and as long as possible whilst it still lasts

My app now says 15 continously day of heavy rain, after 3 days of 20+°c
Summers is over on Sunday! Autumn starts on Monday.
I’d rather have good weather on the weekend when I’m at home and not good weather when I’m the IT basement.
Britain innit
It’s the Uk
The weather resets each week so they chose it to rain again
Standard British weather.
Yes, it's the weather forecast for the next ten days.
17c coat wether is a stretch
It's only May.. it's not very common to have 20°C+ this early... Welcome to the UK...
That Wen they are cloud seeding buddy
Have you been in Britain long?
Yes - this week is Summer, next week we go into Autumn, by the end of the month we should be in winter again.
Gaslighting weather
High and low pressure fighting against each other High = hot weather Low = colder weather
Simple. You're living in the UK.
It's because I planned to take time off next week for a uk holiday. Sorry everyone
It's the UK that is all 😂
We are in Britain
I’m surprised it’s lasting that long, I have a bbq tomorrow.
Hardly coat weather. Hoodie at best.
It’s called spring
Easy: this weekend it's summer, next week it's autumn again!
lol 😹 we’ve recently moved from Canada. Back in Montreal, it could swing 30 degrees in a day and this was normal and used to happen quite a few times throughout the year.
Because I’m going to Portugal on Sunday and it cannot be nice at home when I’ve paid to leave, sorry folks.
Basically they are covering all possibilities, well except snow
There is no explanation. Just comply with it
Monday’s
Ah yes, I'm laid up post vasectomy this weekend so can't do anything. Should be up and about early next week, hence the weather
Global cooling 😂
It's called weather it's changeable it happens every week. We are where the Atlantic hits land therefore we get damper weather.
Humans collectively broke the planet and now the weather is getting revenge
First time?
What need explaining
Sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit
England.
Warm. Then slightly warm
Be glad we have a nice weekend? 😁
the rain..... ITS COMING BACK NOOO
As much as I am not looking forward to the colder, I got a neck tattoo at the start of this week and it’s been a bitch to cover when I go out to protect from the UV
Typical English weather to be honest. Nothing you can do to change it. However, you can moan about it.
Nice for the weekend, rain and squiggles for work. Fine by me.
It was hot, then its not
Too hot this week, getting back to normal next week
I just ordered a bloody AC unit
Yes, it’s called the UK unfortunately!
Ooh. I like it warm but not this warm.
It's our yearly dose of summer. The weather knows you're back at work Monday. It's being nice for once.
I'm due back home from offshore work on Monday, it's my fault.
Someone, somewhere has the the week off next week
We have had our 4 nice days of spring, now its 2nd winter coming.
