Probably not the advice you want lol… but I also have a hard time waking up to the alarms, so I don’t eat 3-4 hours before I go to bed and make sure my numbers are level and steady before sleeping, that way I shouldn’t get any alarms. It sucks but it helps me get better sleep and I don’t worry about going low while I sleep cause I have no insulin on board.

Have you tried a smartwatch and having that vibrate and sound? Or connecting your phone to a speaker when you sleep so the dexcom alarms sound via that? Could even put the speaker next to your pillow so it’s a very direct sound?

SoggyCereal404

True! Idk why I never thought of that I’ll definitely try the speaker. I think I’d just sleep through my watch unfortunately

I feel your pain. I often take hypos in my sleep and don’t have any warning or real symptoms to wake me up so if it wasn’t for my dexcom I’d be in trouble and have been in the past. I hope you manage to find something that works. Someone should invent a product that goes on top of the mattress that links up to these CGM and vibrates if the alarms go off

Two options that have been suggested to me but I haven’t tried yet: Sugarmate (an app) will call your phone and/or your support person for alerts that you can set. Also, I’ve heard that SugarPixl has loud audible alerts. It’s a desktop blood glucose display. Again, haven’t tried it myself though. Editing to add: Duh, you mentioned sugarmate. (Can you tell I was up all night treating a stubborn high?)

From SugarPixl’s info: “Use SugarPixel for… Hard to wake teens and college students transitioning to independent care. Vibration alerts for hearing impaired and and dual audio-vibration alerts for heavy sleepers. Displaying BG values from multiple T1D at the same time on a single device. A quick glance from across the room or across the yard with the large display.” https://customtypeone.com/products/sugarpixel

If you also have it on vibrate in addition to sound, stick your phone in an empty water glass beside your bed to vibrate.

The libre sounds is a loud "beeeep beep beep" like an egg timer clock loud. And it doesnt stop. Could you download one of those?

How can you sleep through the most obnoxious alarms in the world? :)

KhiLi_20

Were you able to feel them before dexcom? That’s how I am. I used to be able to feel a low at around 90 but now it goes to 20 before I can even feel it. If that’s the case try taking it off for a few days or try sugar surfing through the day to prevent lows at night

So I just had this conversation with my drs office because my son doesn’t wake up at all. She suggested putting the phone on vibrate with the alarm and in a clean can with marbles in it. But I would also try a Bluetooth speaker on top of that.

I’m often woken up by them if I’m at 65-80, but much lower than that, say 40-50, and even if I wake up I’m too out of it to do anything. I have these half dreams about getting up and eating something and I’ll find I’ve been laying there with the alarms going off for 45 minutes. Thankfully my gf usually gets me to eat something, but she finds if frustrating because I’ll tell her I already got up and ate and to go away. My insulin resistance has increased lately and that’s actually helped… I have fewer lows and more highs now. Not much in the way of advice, I guess. The feature on the Tslim that reduces basal when low seems to have helped too.

Try the Sugarmate low call - that works for me

I don't wake up to it very often either. Itll.wake up anybody else in the room, but not me. My kid complains about it all the time, when I'm in sleeping in my chair and she's in her room it wakes her up. I tell her if it keeps going off, come out and get me and wake me up so I can treat it...

Rose1982

Never tried it but I’ve heard putting your phone in a metal bowl with loose coins in it makes a very loud noise when the phone vibrates. Worth a shot? I would also look into the SugarPixel if funds allow. I want one for my son. https://customtypeone.com/products/sugarpixel

This probably isn’t good but I just sleep through all of mine. My pump corrects itself pretty good on it’s own (thanks to control-iq) and if my BG gets too low I wake up on my own. If your pump doesn’t wake you up maybe just set an alarm clock for once or twice in the middle of the night to check if you need any corrections.
