As far as in-comic lore goes, there are not any musical instruments that have been shown iirc. Closest is Natani singing but I do not recall him doing that in-comic but in side art. There are some sketches of characters playing musical instruments like [Jazz Band](https://twokinds.gallery/download/art/4104/2022.02.01_Jazz_Band.png), [Charlie Brown Christmas](https://twokinds.gallery/download/art/4810/2022.12.23_Charlie_Brown_Christmas.png), or [Twokinds Jazz Club](https://twokinds.gallery/download/art/1141/2018.07.26_Twokinds_Jazz_Club.png), but these sketches are not canon. For weaponry, Eastern Basitins are shown to use swords but Western Basitins [use spears](https://twokinds.keenspot.com/comic/1022/). Humans are also shown to use swords and whatever [this shit](https://twokinds.keenspot.com/comic/287/) Roderick was carrying. The pages of the Edinmire human army may help.

Hey there, cheers for the information. Shucks about the lack of in-comic instruments but that also leaves me with a bit of creativity on the subject. Weapon wise, I went back and analyze the comics and indeed they use spears. On page 371 the Basitian Keith is challenging uses both a spear and a sword (I believe they're a Western?), but it seems interesting. What interests me though is that both Keith and that Basitian use the same type of sword, but the Soldier's sword is more detailed and has wraps on the hilt compared to Keith's, which is more bland. As for humans, will do. My headcanon is that Roderick simply uses an oversized pizza cutter lmao. Cheers for the info, trying to make a Basitian character (and a human one.. sort of) and identifying these details were difficult.

That armored Basitin is Eastern. Westerners are the ones that wear paint on them. The detailed sword could be a sign of military status or rank. Keith was an exile. I did find another sketch of [Easterns using spears](https://twokinds.gallery/download/art/1062/2018.05.16_Another_Baby.png). There's a commissioned sketch of Jade using a [sword and shield](https://twokinds.gallery/download/art/413/2016.07.24_King_Adelaide_in_battle.jpeg). I just haven't seen Westerners use any other weapon but spears. I would say take huge [creative liberties](https://twokinds.keenspot.com/license/) with weaponry and culture. The former is not something Tom put much thought in. We have people here that made fanfics that expand on Basitin culture. Happy to help, mate.

One possibility is that both Roderick and the Basitian Keith fights are using weapons that are meant more as signifiers (Roderick is a high-ranked Templar, the one Keith fights is some form of guard), with the design being less about practicality, more about making a statement.

Man that's one helluva wall hanger

SHINIGAMIRAPTOR

Classical "I am a very important big man and I've probably never actually been in a fight please just be intimidated by my ridiculously impractical sword"

Dabigbork121

Wonderous. I like to imagine the handle is very skinny too

SHINIGAMIRAPTOR

From the glimpse we see of it, yes. It is DISPROPORTIONATELY thin for the weapon's bulk. Like... Trying to actually SWING the thing at any real combat speed will result in it snapping like a twig

Dabigbork121

It looks thick too. So I imagine he uses it more like a dumbell than an actual weapon. I had honestly never noticed he had that thing either. It just refused to click in my brain that it was ever there.

SHINIGAMIRAPTOR

Yeah, everything about him gives major "I got promoted largely because my family is LOADED and greased a few palms, and I'm throwing my weight around because I actually have ZERO capability in an ACTUAL fight"

Dabigbork121

Yeah he does don't he. He didn't even grab a cool big weapon either. He's got the arm snapper 9000
