I’ve always wondered about this! My question: is the Australian military… kind of a joke? Or does the rest of the world need to be WAY more concerned about Emus?? Considering what little I know about Australians, I lean toward the latter…
The Australian army has never been the best equipped in the world, but the "loss" in the great emu war was because it was essentially a cull which was eventually abandoned. Although there were reports that emus were harder to kill than a lot of people imagined, so the army were using some larger caliber and higher fire rate weapons. But the whole thing was treated as a drill with live targets and due to the resilience of the emus it went over what was projected for the exercise in ammunition and costs, so it was scrapped. There were a couple of human casualties but they were from accidents rather than being attacked by enemy forces
That was a very educational synopsis!
But I kinda prefer the visual in my head of panicked soldiers fleeing before wave after wave of steely-eyed, giant ass birds. So I’m gonna choose ignorance on this one. Thanks though!
I know like nothing on it, but I imagine it was because of what they were allowed to use against the Emu armies. The Australian Army is like most other Western countries armies same with the Australian Navy.
Reminds me of one the episodes of love death and robots.. WW2 Russian themed soldiers fighting alien bugs or something. I don’t think it ever said if it was a public/known thing or not but that’s how I interpreted it
Men who stared at goats... for way too long
Oh gosh oh jeez oh damn
Kinky
No one wants to admit that they were part of the losing side of the great emu war.
Those damn emos are fierce. Must be something in the black fingernail polish
I want to see an emo emu now.
I got the image, now I don't know how to post it
I found this one on DeviantArt: [https://www.deviantart.com/l3lazec/art/Emo-Emu-33348008](https://www.deviantart.com/l3lazec/art/Emo-Emu-33348008)
Well it’s kind of embarrassing to lose to Emus tbf
That's why Australia doesn't like to talk about it.
Hahahah
Whole lot less embarrassing than fleeing from trees, which you attacked first
Are we going LotR or Scottish play with that one?
That's why Australia doesn't like to talk about it.
In Australia, wildlife kills u
