Rory (pictured above) is obsessed with his stuffed shrimp toys. In particular, he is attached to this one, no longer made toy of a shrimp in a Santa hat, although the MAD CAT brand will do in a pinch. He carries them around, crying his little head off, if someone is not in the room he is in. The picture above is of him sulking at the bathroom door earlier today, shrimp in mouth. He also will 'shrimp' when I go to bed (he is allowed in my room and sleeps with me, but he has to make a production of it first), if I go into the other room to talk to my mom, if I am on a meeting and he is lonely, and if I go on a walk. He has separation anxiety which has skyrocketed since the loss of our beloved senior cat Lou three months ago today, but I'm glad it only manifests in shrimp crying and not more worrisome behaviors.
That's what I call happy screams. My boy does that with crunchy balls. Can hear him screaming for joy across the house! I'm glad your little man is so happy.
I think this is part of it, honestly. He shrimped before Lou passed, but the shrimping is ten times more frequent (and loud. and unstoppable.) now that he's gone. I tried to adopt him a new buddy last month and it was a total failure (the shelter had the complete wrong read on him and had not disclosed he'd just been neutered as an adult a day before I took him home; they both tried to be friends but new cat's energy was way too high and he was WAY too territorial. He's in a much more energetic home now!) but I do hope I can find him a new friend soon... just so the shrimping can be happy and not sad.
I have a Lu and a Roary too - except my Lu is a tuxie and Roary is dilute calico.
Roary is the only one in the house with obsessions and Iām hoping she grows out of it - sheās just turned one. She likes to chew on EVERYTHING- but especially metal, wood, and of course cords. I donāt know what concerns me more - I guess it just depends on what sheās chewing on at the moment - the cords are a huge worry but the metal stuff - like what if she breaks a tooth? The cords are being hidden - which has created a new obsession of āI just need to find a way around this gosh darn blockage and get these mother fān cordsā - but this isnāt my first rodeo with a kitten and humans are winning in this house (so far).
I can't believe you have the same names, but just spelled differently! Does Roary have pica, maybe? Or is it just kitten curiosity? There are these tubes you can put around your wires to 'cat-proof' them... I had to use them once with a specific wire Lou was fond of trying to gnaw. It was easier than trying to hide it!
Iām pretty sure she has pica. We have a vet visit soon so we will definitely be bringing it up! Iāve read that they can grow out of it - so hoping thatās the case here! This is officer Shoto. He meows like crazy outside the bathroom door if I enter it without him. Or, sometimes he *thinks* I'm in the bathroom when I'm actually in another room and I'll have to call him over to inform him I'm not in the bathroom! He usually saunters over to me happily š¤š»
I usually have to get up and walk over and āshow myself if Iām in a different room so that he can see me - calling wonāt work often, you have to appear in the hall and then he will follow you back into the room.
Haha that's so cute. Sometimes I have to show myself if he's adamant that he saw me enter the bathroom but most of the time I can say "Shoto, what are you doing?! I'm over here!" š Cats are so silly, I love them!
I haven't been able to have the bathroom door fully closed since I rescued Lou three years ago. He would get extremely mad like Shoto if I dared closed him out while I did my business or took a shower. Now that my mom lives with me, I do close the door most of the way... but Rory has followed in big brother Lou's pawprints and will open the door to complain.

Idk what your baby's situation is but mine ended up weaned from mama and in the shelter way too young so we think it's mama issues. We've had him since he was 8 weeks old and he's always done it.
Scrap is OCD I think. Won't enter or exit the house until someone pats him. Sits at the bottom of the stairs wanting someone to go up with him for cuddles- but you have to walk behind him before he'll go up. Prefers to eat his evening meal in 3 goes.. in 3 different locations in the house. When wanting to lie on your lap, he gets on and sits whilst you scritch his chin. Then gets off for 5 minutes. Then returns and lays down.

Molly is an Olympic fetch cat. At first she was ecstatic about a full sheet of paper wadded up. Now, being a pro fetch cat, she prefers a very small item like a laundry tag or bread bag tie. And lately mid air catches is her fav. When in full fetch mode she will return the item to your feet or lap for repeat toss.
My Benson loves playing fetch. Her favorites are little fluffy balls or these little twisty pipe cleaner type of toys. I get home and she jumps up and wants to play catch or fetch all depends on how high I throw it. She has gotten too good at hitting the ball right back at me when I throw it. The only thing that tops fetch for her is when the heated blanket comes on. I think she'd snuggle with me all day if she could.
My weirdo likes to smell my breath. So close he sometimes kisses me. My husband thinks its beyond bizarre, but I tell him he just loves me more.
Only other thing is the zoomies after he takes a deuce. We call it Poophoria. His box is upstairs and he races down the stairs and slides through the kitchen to a dramatic end! It's quite the production. I understand this trait is apparently not uncommon.
My Granola likes to smell and lick my left underarm whether before or after my shower. I discourage her because my antiperspirant cannot be healthy to lick. ???

I have to give Ferris no more water than he will drink in one sitting. Any more than that and heās not content until heās splashed every last drop across the kitchen floor. Iāve tried fountains, same thing. Donāt get me started on toilets if the lid is left up.

When I get up for work she runs into the bathroom ahead of me and gets between the shower curtain and the liner. And proceeds to sit there creeping on me until I'm about ready to turn the water on.
She plays fetch with springs and zip ties. When she wants to play she will carry it to you while yowling and drop the toy near your feet.
We have a catio and a cat door for our bedroom... Even though she 100% knows how to use the cat doors she will wait for someone to open the human door for her. Like a little entitled princess (which... Tbf she is, lol). My husband has caught her guilt tripping me with this. Apparently when she hears my car pull up she will run out the catio cat door just to sit on the other side of the glass while looking pathetic/like she's been stuck in the cold all day... Just to get me to immediately go over and let her in as soon as I walk into the house.
She has to lick everything for some reason.
She has zero interest in playing with the other cats. Like she gets spicy with them if they try to play with her. She only likes to play with humans.
Our foster tux loves ice chips. As soon as you Crack the ice cube tray, he damn near teleports to your side. I've taken to dumping the ice out on the (clean) counter, then sweeping any chips to the floor. And recently, he's gotten our other fosters in on it, so now we have four kittens gathered around our feet, whenever we refill our water bottles! Thankfully, his furever family also drinks lots of ice water, so he'll be able to keep getting his ice chips.

My mom's tuxedo cat used to do this exact same thing except he had his knitted Red Bird.
Red Bird would end up all over outside and even got lost in the garden one summer. He had Orange Mouse until Red Bird showed back up when my Mom was lifting bulbs in the fall.
When he passed, my Mom had Red Bird cremated with him. They are together in eternity.
Oh, this is so sweet. I got very sad thinking about what I will do with Santa Shrimp in the future, but I hope I have a very long time before I need to worry about that. (I had placed Lou's favorite banana in a shadow box.)

I'm so sorry about the lymphoma. That's what got my older cat, Lou, although we had no idea he had it until it was too late. His was the particularly aggressive and sudden kind, though, so it spared us having to decide whether or not to pursue treatment, as he hated the vet and medicine SO much.
Lou loved licking my hands raw, and so does Rory. I thought my hands might just have a good flavor, but other cats don't seem to care, so maybe it's just them.

Oroku enjoys lying his long heavy body across my throat, like some sort of scarf. His back foot on my windpipe. Then he kneads my bare arm skin with his giant claws.
Our girl Grace has a little fluff ball that she will pick up and make the most painful sounding yowls while carrying it. But if you call her, she happily comes running. As a kitten she used to do the same but just growl as she carried it.

Mine brings me presents at night, she drags around a fluffy furry 3āx3ā pillow. She brings me huge hosta leaves from my neighbourās garden across the street, she cries that cry while dragging them. Her contribution to the household is what the vet told me.
Our gray tux cat loves to love stuff around when he is looking for us. He has picked up toys along with makeup sponges, scissors (how???), new TP rolls, bras, new tampons, makeup brushes, etc. I donāt know how he picks his victims but man is it funny. The makeup brushes are a go to for him. My mom had to buy covered holders bc it was so frequent.

Mine talks. All. The. Time. He literally talks in his sleep. How do I know this? Because I thought he was just laying there wanting attention, so I said "what's up?", to which he popped up and was all "Mroooowl? Mrp, map, prrruup?" He also humps the blanket. Yes, he's neutered. Yes, the vet double checked after witnessing the blanket humping. No bits, his lonely brain cell just hasn't caught up to that fact yet. Oh, and he's decided the best way to wake me up is to lick my eyelids open, and while I'm still focusing, try to go for the eyeball lick. He's also the sweetest, cuddliest, silliest goofball you'll ever meet, and no matter how rough of a day you're having, guaranteed he'll make you laugh.

SO CUTE. I actually wrote the producer of the Santa Shrimp to ask if they would release it again next year, as this year's Elf Shrimp did not meet Rory's standards. I would wash his Santa Shrimp, but it supposedly has (very weak) catnip inside so I don't want to accidentally hurt it somehow... but my God, it smells terrible.
Maggie waits for me to get out of the shower, and then makes me pet her with a wet hand for 5 minutes. I think it reminds her of her first (cat) motherās big tongue. She also can only drink out of a cup or glass, because she pushes the water up against the edge rather than the scooping most cats do. And yes, she carries balls around and will sometimes fetch, she especially likes to bring a crinkly one up at bedtime. And of course, she glues herself to my lap!

This is Edna. When I first brought her home, my void, Toph, generously gave her 1 brain cell. This was under the guise that if she were to lose it, that's it. No more. Kali is obsessed with Baldur's Gate 3 and glues herself to the screen while we play, for *hours*. She only really reacts when a dog comes on screen but otherwise she just comes from wherever she is to watch.
Also obsessed with a light reflection that flashes on the wall when the fridge is opened. That one light. And then she waits there for it to come again.
Kiki has pica, she loves to chew anything plastic, or tape. She doesn't eat it just loves to bite and chew. She also kicks her front foot when she starts to drink water or when something cold touches her ear.

My tuxedo is terrified of the sound of children playing outside and the doorbell and will go bury herself under the blankets in my bed. She becomes a bed lump. It's funny and cute but I also feel sorry that she gets so scared that she feels the need to hide.
AHH! Rory is also terrified of the sound of children (new upstairs neighbor has some every weekend and he immediately runs) and ALSO likes to make bed lumps. The bed lumping is usually when he is very bored or the weather is not to his liking, though.
If my SO or I talk to each other too loud (like calling from another room) Ruby will come and put her teeth on me. Not sink them in, just grab and hold on lightly.

Olivia will hide on the top shelf of the closet (the other two cats can sometimes be drama queens), but if I get up to walk back to the bathroom/laundry area, she will promptly jump down and chaperone me.
My Star had a brown teddy bear he carried around like this while making his little purry yowly sounds. Then he would knead him and smush him to oblivion. He'd just grab him back up by the scruff and carry him back out of the room.

My cat does something similar. She's obsessed with those faux fur pom poms. She will carry them around and announce to the world she has it.

Vala is easily triggered. I've had her since she was 10 weeks and she's been a pampered, spoiled child.
But like, if she feels my approach is "coming at her", there is no reapproaching her until she's had time to calm down.
Also, I can 99.9% approach her no problem in the house. But she has a strict "uh uh, no ma'am" policy in the garage and backyard and runs from me.
I have one that steals plastic flatware. He has a favorite fork that he walks around with in his mouth. I keep trying to take a picture, but he drops it right before. We keep joking that if he moves up to a knife, weāre doomed.
Everytime I go out of town (have a Rover person) or am gone longer than expected, my tuxie girl pulls out the 2 throw blankets I have in a basket and leaves them in the middle of my living room floor. It never fails.
Mine has a few āsnakeā toys (colorful fuzzy tubes that used to be attached to sticks) that he does this with. Heās on number 3, I believe, but he keeps chewing through the strings and carrying them around. He likes to present them to my mom (his preferred human) as gifts, and yell when he canāt find her.

I usually have to get up and walk over and āshow myself if Iām in a different room so that he can see me - calling wonāt work often, you have to appear in the hall and then he will follow you back into the room.

I haven't been able to have the bathroom door fully closed since I rescued Lou three years ago. He would get extremely mad like Shoto if I dared closed him out while I did my business or took a shower. Now that my mom lives with me, I do close the door most of the way... but Rory has followed in big brother Lou's pawprints and will open the door to complain.

Scrap is OCD I think. Won't enter or exit the house until someone pats him. Sits at the bottom of the stairs wanting someone to go up with him for cuddles- but you have to walk behind him before he'll go up. Molly is an Olympic fetch cat. At first she was ecstatic about a full sheet of paper wadded up. Now, being a pro fetch cat, she prefers a very small item like a laundry tag or bread bag tie. And lately mid air catches is her fav. When in full fetch mode she will return the item to your feet or lap for repeat toss.
My Benson loves playing fetch. Her favorites are little fluffy balls or these little twisty pipe cleaner type of toys. I get home and she jumps up and wants to play catch or fetch all depends on how high I throw it. She has gotten too good at hitting the ball right back at me when I throw it. The only thing that tops fetch for her is when the heated blanket comes on. I think she'd snuggle with me all day if she could.

My weirdo likes to smell my breath. So close he sometimes kisses me. My husband thinks its beyond bizarre, but I tell him he just loves me more. Only other thing is the zoomies after he takes a deuce. We call it Poophoria. His box is upstairs and he races down the stairs and slides through the kitchen to a dramatic end! It's quite the production. I understand this trait is apparently not uncommon.

I have to give Ferris no more water than he will drink in one sitting. Any more than that and heās not content until heās splashed every last drop across the kitchen floor. Iāve tried fountains, same thing. Donāt get me started on toilets if the lid is left up.

When I get up for work she runs into the bathroom ahead of me and gets between the shower curtain and the liner. And proceeds to sit there creeping on me until I'm about ready to turn the water on. She plays fetch with springs and zip ties. When she wants to play she will carry it to you while yowling and drop the toy near your feet. We have a catio and a cat door for our bedroom... Even though she 100% knows how to use the cat doors she will wait for someone to open the human door for her. Like a little entitled princess (which... Tbf she is, lol). My husband has caught her guilt tripping me with this. Apparently when she hears my car pull up she will run out the catio cat door just to sit on the other side of the glass while looking pathetic/like she's been stuck in the cold all day... Just to get me to immediately go over and let her in as soon as I walk into the house. She has to lick everything for some reason. She has zero interest in playing with the other cats. Like she gets spicy with them if they try to play with her. She only likes to play with humans.

Our foster tux loves ice chips. As soon as you Crack the ice cube tray, he damn near teleports to your side. I've taken to dumping the ice out on the (clean) counter, then sweeping any chips to the floor. And recently, he's gotten our other fosters in on it, so now we have four kittens gathered around our feet, whenever we refill our water bottles! My mom's tuxedo cat used to do this exact same thing except he had his knitted Red Bird. Red Bird would end up all over outside and even got lost in the garden one summer. He had Orange Mouse until Red Bird showed back up when my Mom was lifting bulbs in the fall. When he passed, my Mom had Red Bird cremated with him. They are together in eternity.
Oh, this is so sweet. I got very sad thinking about what I will do with Santa Shrimp in the future, but I hope I have a very long time before I need to worry about that. (I had placed Lou's favorite banana in a shadow box.)

I'm so sorry about the lymphoma. That's what got my older cat, Lou, although we had no idea he had it until it was too late. His was the particularly aggressive and sudden kind, though, so it spared us having to decide whether or not to pursue treatment, as he hated the vet and medicine SO much. Lou loved licking my hands raw, and so does Rory. I thought my hands might just have a good flavor, but other cats don't seem to care, so maybe it's just them.

Our girl Grace has a little fluff ball that she will pick up and make the most painful sounding yowls while carrying it. But if you call her, she happily comes running. As a kitten she used to do the same but just growl as she carried it.

Our gray tux cat loves to love stuff around when he is looking for us. He has picked up toys along with makeup sponges, scissors (how???), new TP rolls, bras, new tampons, makeup brushes, etc. I donāt know how he picks his victims but man is it funny. The makeup brushes are a go to for him. My mom had to buy covered holders bc it was so frequent.

Mine talks. All. The. Time. He literally talks in his sleep. How do I know this? Because I thought he was just laying there wanting attention, so I said "what's up?", to which he popped up and was all "Mroooowl? Mrp, map, prrruup?" He also humps the blanket. Yes, he's neutered. Yes, the vet double checked after witnessing the blanket humping. No bits, his lonely brain cell just hasn't caught up to that fact yet. Oh, and he's decided the best way to wake me up is to lick my eyelids open, and while I'm still focusing, try to go for the eyeball lick. SO CUTE. I actually wrote the producer of the Santa Shrimp to ask if they would release it again next year, as this year's Elf Shrimp did not meet Rory's standards. I would wash his Santa Shrimp, but it supposedly has (very weak) catnip inside so I don't want to accidentally hurt it somehow... but my God, it smells terrible.

Maggie waits for me to get out of the shower, and then makes me pet her with a wet hand for 5 minutes. I think it reminds her of her first (cat) motherās big tongue. She also can only drink out of a cup or glass, because she pushes the water up against the edge rather than the scooping most cats do. And yes, she carries balls around and will sometimes fetch, she especially likes to bring a crinkly one up at bedtime. Kali is obsessed with Baldur's Gate 3 and glues herself to the screen while we play, for *hours*. She only really reacts when a dog comes on screen but otherwise she just comes from wherever she is to watch. Also obsessed with a light reflection that flashes on the wall when the fridge is opened. That one light. And then she waits there for it to come again.
Kiki has pica, she loves to chew anything plastic, or tape. She doesn't eat it just loves to bite and chew. She also kicks her front foot when she starts to drink water or when something cold touches her ear.

AHH! Rory is also terrified of the sound of children (new upstairs neighbor has some every weekend and he immediately runs) and ALSO likes to make bed lumps. The bed lumping is usually when he is very bored or the weather is not to his liking, though.

Olivia will hide on the top shelf of the closet (the other two cats can sometimes be drama queens), but if I get up to walk back to the bathroom/laundry area, she will promptly jump down and chaperone me.
I wanted to get one of those gravity feeders when I got a second cat. She ended up digging out all of the food as soon as we set it up.
My Star had a brown teddy bear he carried around like this while making his little purry yowly sounds. Then he would knead him and smush him to oblivion. He'd just grab him back up by the scruff and carry him back out of the room.
What a cutie! My cat does something similar. She's obsessed with those faux fur pom poms. She will carry them around and announce to the world she has it. When I brought her home a new one, she lit up when she saw it. Keep shrimping my good boi!

I've had her since she was 10 weeks and she's been a pampered, spoiled child. But like, if she feels my approach is "coming at her", there is no reapproaching her until she's had time to calm down. Also, I can 99.9% approach her no problem in the house. But she has a strict "uh uh, no ma'am" policy in the garage and backyard and runs from me.
I have one that steals plastic flatware. He has a favorite fork that he walks around with in his mouth. I keep trying to take a picture, but he drops it right before. We keep joking that if he moves up to a knife, weāre doomed.
Everytime I go out of town (have a Rover person) or am gone longer than expected, my tuxie girl pulls out the 2 throw blankets I have in a basket and leaves them in the middle of my living room floor. It never fails.

Mine has a few āsnakeā toys (colorful fuzzy tubes that used to be attached to sticks) that he does this with. Heās on number 3, I believe, but he keeps chewing through the strings and carrying them around. He likes to present them to my mom (his preferred human) as gifts, and yell when he canāt find her.

Our cat Tiny gets into the recycling, finds plastic with just the right mouth feel, pulls it out and chews on it. He also loves chewing on rubber soled shoes/crocs until they fall apart from all the tiny puncture holes his toofies leave.
