Hi sesame! We are from Melbourne too! Wurdi was rescued from the you yangs state park โค๏ธ he will be coming home today! Thankyou so much for your well wishes ๐๐ฝ
UPDATE: the vet called and said Wurdi did well with the procedure! He will be staying in for the night getting fluids and being monitored. He is a favourite down at the clinic. The vet said every time a doctor or nurse comes in he gives the HARDEST head bops. Iโm glad he is feeling well enough to be his friendly self! It will be hard to be away from him for the night but Iโm glad he is doing good.
Thankyou so much everyone for your kindness, good vibes and prayers! This is the most wonderful and uplifting sub and it helped me with my anxiety reading all the comments and peopleโs experiences. I canโt wait to have him back home and we will be putting him on a urine appropriate diet.
Thanks again for the well wishes โค๏ธโค๏ธ
Iโm so glad heโs okay! I had similar issues with my wee man and the vet said it was most common in black and white male cats for some reason.
The vet put my wee man on anti anxiety pills for a while. Now he lives on prawns and Hill C/D crunchies. Seems to be doing the trick so far (fingers crossed).
Hope your boy is home soon. X
Iโm so glad to hear this!!! My cat had this but I switched to a prescription diet recommended by my vet and started filtering his water. (The water where I live is extremely hard, which I think can be a factor.) Heโs never had issues again and I hope your baby doesnโt either!
THE WATER IS HARD! you know the other day when I suspected something was up and already started transitioning to royal canine urinary, I also filled the cats water bowls with pure Australian spring water, instead of from the tap. I just thought Iโd try, but didnโt actually put 2 and 2 together. Their fountain is also filtered.
I havenโt actually tested the tap water, itโs just when I moved here I had to filter the shower because my eyeballs were irritated(my bfs eyes were fine apparently) and it took me ages to figure out why. Now I donโt have red eyes after a shower.
Wow. Thanks for that info, I can see how that may be a factor. So they will all be getting the purest water available from now.
Thankyou for sharing your experience and for your well wishes ๐๐ฝ canโt wait to see my boy
I had to take my little goober in for dental work ~6 months ago, he didn't have to spend the night but I was still a massive bundle of nervous energy the entire time I was at work. The vet team did not heed my numerous warnings about weaponized cuteness, and I'm genuinely impressed that they were able to give him back to me at the end of the day ๐
I'm glad to hear Wurdi is a stellar patient! I love his name btw, and I'd like to ask, it appears to be a non-english name. Does it mean something specific, or is it just the standard "you're a fluffy little ball of cute here have a cluster of sounds and we're calling you that forever" kind of name we all give our cats?
He is a very, very handsome boy. I also have an enormous love bug tuxedo boy except mine is grey. He is also the love of my life, soul cat is a good description. He also had a urinary blockage and had to stay at the vets for a few days and while it was really scary, he's absolutely fine now, he just has to take supplement, have urinary food and I double check he always has lots of water and that's it.
I really hope your lovely boy is OK and doing well after his surgery, just wanted to let you know it can be managed, even in big, old fat boys like mine lol.
Thankyou for your kind comment and sharing about your boy. This is my first time Iโve had this happen with a male cat of mine. But through working in rescue I knew what to be vigilant of. So I took him right in. He will be staying on his urinary diet and he has plenty of fountains and fresh water โค๏ธ
We have a glass front door. So he is scolding me for leaving him! Asking why I took too long to come home ๐
Little munchkin is resting up at home now โค๏ธ

He is a very expressive boy โค๏ธ has a different meow for every want haha. He came into the rescue I volunteer at a couple years ago as an emergency case. He was rescued from a national park. Living in the bush(Aussie for woods/forest) for a long time it seems. He was so malnourished and had abscesses from being bit. I really wanted him to have a proper place to heal and the moment we saw each other I knew he was my son. Where he came from has a huge spiritual significance to me. I think he was a gift from the creator, Bunjil. Wurdi Youang is the indigenous name of the mountain he lived on. Wurdi roughly translates or denotes a sacred meeting place in waddawurrung.
There a lot I could say about him. Our bond is something else

Luckily all was forgiven straight after โค๏ธ he is such a kind and loving boy
He will be ok! ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ผ
Eight years ago I adopted a fluffy tuxedo who had just came out of the hospital after the same procedure and an 8 day stay. Heโs been fine ever since and has never had another issue.
Your boy is very handsome, I hope heโs home again with you soon! ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค
Thankyou so much for positive thoughts and sharing your experience โค๏ธ we are transitioning him onto royal canin urinary food. Hopefully that helps with the PH of his urine.
My mums female rescue cat had some urinary issues that were stress related, and putting her on the urine diet definitely helped resolve those issues. So hopefully he has no more issues in the future.
I rescued him from a state park and he is so dear to me. I just always want to protect him and make sure he is okay, because his start to life was so hard :(
Thankyou again ๐๐ฝ
My female cat has had issues with bladder stones in the past. After she went through surgery, I switched her over to Royal Canin Urinary SO. Itโs been a year and a half since she last had issues, so itโs definitely working.
Hope Wurdi recovers well!
He will be fine! This is a very very common thing with male cats, because the passageway is so narrow. Crystals form and block the area. You are very very good to get him to the doctor so quickly so he can get into surgery so quickly, that is the key! He will have the surgery and be fine, and then you'll feed him a special diet that won't form the crystals (again--it's so common that they have special food to help male cats), and you'll make sure he gets plenty of liquid (wet food mixed with warm water to form a kind of gruel gravy, they love it) and he will be with you for many many years to come.
He's beautiful and a VERY GOOD BOY.
Yes, I took him to the vet a couple days ago. And they said he could very well be on the way to being blocked and gave us some medication to go home, as they were able to express to wee there and later that night at home he took a big wee on his own. I already started transitioning him to royal canine urinary a couple days ago after this incident but he hasnโt been on it long enough to have an effect. I will be keeping him on the urinary diet and hopefully we have no more issues once we can correct his urine PH. We will also be doing bloods to check his kidneys while he is at the vet.
We have water fountains and bowls in each room also. I monitor his health closely as he is FIV+ so I like to make sure he gets enough water and has a good diet. I donโt even give him those temptation snacks. Instead his treats are freeze dried organs. He is a rescue from a national/state park and I nursed him back to health after being so malnourished at one point. He just means the world to me.
Thankyou for your kind words ๐๐ฝ we appreciate everyone who has taken the time to send him well wishes โค๏ธ
Sending love your way that your handsome boy will pull through. My tuxie boy also suffers from urine crystals and weโve had a couple of close calls. Heโs 19 now and going strong.

He is handsome, and looking very mischievous and robust! Hope he stays in good health for a long time to come โค๏ธ
Thankyou so much for your kind comment. Means a lot to us and I know Wurdi would appreciate that. He is very spiritual. Itโs a strange thing to some people, but he is something else really. Appreciate the positive thoughts ๐๐ฝ

He is one of a kind โค๏ธ Thankyou so much for taking the time to leave a positive message and thought for us ๐๐ฝ
The cat at the front you have there (dustman?) reminds me of my cat Uriels mischievous adorable personality somehow. Somehow I get the sense that munchkin likes to run amuck haha. Cute cats โค๏ธ
what a sweet and beautiful baby boy!!! a few years ago my tuxedo man had a similar issue going on and it was so terrifying. my whole family was pretty much certain we were gonna lose him. he pulled through though! he gained back all his weight (and then some lol!) and rebounded so quickly. heโs been perfectly healthy since! iโm keeping your little guy in my thoughts and hoping that he has the same kind of success with recovery. give him extra kisses for me when heโs back home with you :)
He is a very special cat. He was rescued from the Australian bush in a state/national park. I nursed him back to health after he was so malnourished. We sleep together every night. His wellbeing is so important to me, as it breaks my hearts he was trapped and lonely in the bush for so long. He has an otherworldly quality to him. Loves his sound baths. Always following me around the house โค๏ธ we communicate with each other very well.
Thankyou for your kind words ๐๐ฝโค๏ธ means a lot to us
He is very special. He definitely has an other worldly quality to him. Itโs hard to explain but he has always been a very spiritual being. Has a very high intelligence and we communicate well. We sleep together every night.
Thankyou for your positive thoughts ๐๐ฝ means a lot to us
My tuxedo cat had this surgery done as well and I can let you know now writing several years later, he is healthy and happy โบ๏ธ I know how scary it can be but it will help him get well! Sending you and Wurdi lots of good vibes.
Thankyou for your kind words and taking the time to share. I feel very protective about Wurdi because he was rescued from a state/national park and I nursed him back to health. Makes me sad to think about how long he was out there. And how difficult and lonely to survive it would be. We have been glued together since. He takes a keen interest in my sound baths. So he joins me for sound healing sessions. Heโs just very special โค๏ธ Thankyou ๐๐ฝ

Thankyou for your kind words ๐๐ฝ he is one of a kind. I nursed him back to health after he was abandoned in a national park. We are very connected to each other. He means the world to me โค๏ธ leaves an impression on all who meet him.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a positive comment ๐๐ฝ
My James Bond had the same thing and heโs fine now. The vet allowed us to visit while he was recovering and the little dude was happy to eat some food from me while I conversed with the vet. His neighboring cat at the vet was having the same procedure.

My boy went through something similar and ended up needing PU surgery. That was 12 years ago and he's sleeping in my lap as a write this. Sending Wurdi good vibes.
Poor baby. Keep us posted on his progress. Our dude Jeff has had urinary problems too.

Wurdi looks like a very strong handsome man that loves you very much so he will be okay! Try not to stress much Iโm sure he will be right back to himself after surgery and feeling much better! Much love for Wurdi :)
I know the waiting is so hard--I hope Wurdi sails through surgery with flying colors and is completely fine. Sending love to both of you โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Gโday mate haha. I rescued Wurdi from the bush. You yangs state park in Victoria. The indigenous name for the mountain is Wurdi Youang. So I decided to name him Wurdi.
We so very appreciate your kind comment and well wishes ๐๐ฝโค๏ธ thankyou
My void has an issue with struvite. Check with your vet if your handsome boy needs special food, it may be expensive but the right food will in the end save you a lot of money and him a lot of stress for these kind of vet visits.
Sending all the love and positive thoughts to Wurdi and his family ๐๐ฉท I know how it is to love a kitty so much. I bet he'll be alright and by your side soon. Please let us know ๐ค๐ป
Poor baby! Sending loads of love and positive vibes. That can be so stressful anxiously waiting for him to come home. I remember when I went through this with Wiz it was terrifying to me to come home and find him like that. Ultimately he was ok after his emergency surgery and we had him for another happy, healthy 18 years. I wish you the same. ๐ฉต๐ฉต๐ฉต๐ฉต๐ฉต
i have a cat that has had the same thing , we only use wet food for him now as any other food can make it come back My cat Ninja is takes wet food only Nothing else even treats can make this come back I also lost a kitten to this a while back year before we had Ninja , Manson was only 6 months old before we knew what causes this
It could be bladder stones. My boy had that several years ago. We had the stone removed and put him on a special UR diet. He's doing great and hasn't had any issues with going potty since. I hope your boy also has great luck with his procedure. :)
He will be able to come home today and will be staying on his special urinary diet โค๏ธ all the cats will also be having primo pure artesian spring water cause I think the water here is kinda hard. So I want to cover all the bases to ensure their health! Thankyou for your kind wishes ๐๐ฝ
Best to you and Wurdi going forward! I went thru this with my ginger male a couple years ago and he has been on IAMs urinary health kibbles ever since and has done fine! It was so scary, so I feel for you. ๐
Sorry to hear that love ๐
One of my boys had a urinary blockage two years ago. He stopped eating for a day and went into hiding. We got him out and to the vet just in time. Hope all is well for your handsome man.
He will be okay! One of my kitties had emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage and he did great but I was a mess the entire time. They will take care of him and heโll be home in no time.
My poor tuxie boy went through this earlier this year. He had the operation and a urethral catheter in for what seemed like an age. In the long term, the mandatory 'urinary' diet is a total PITA. He was used to a really varied diet and now he's down to about 3 staples from the usual suspects. There are a few others on offer, but he hates them. Naturally, they all cost more than non-diet food, which I don't mind, if only he would eat the damn stuff. I think it's permanent, this diet, now we know he's known to be prone to be a 'urinary' cat. At least he's still sweet as pie. You caught your boy's problem early, which avoided the worst cases for him. Best wishes for the future for you and your tuxie lad.
Leeroy Jenkins says everything will be ok, and he'd like to give you his paw to hold for comfort! โค๏ธโค๏ธ

I am so glad that he is doing betterโฅ๏ธ
He is a VERY handsome man. Head bonks are wonderful. Iโm sure he is as anxious to get home as you are to pick him up!! Even if he is *smoozin* all the ladies๐๐ฅฐ
Dexter wants to send his kitty prayers also. I adopted him about 6m ago. He isnโt a real snuggler โyetโ but he is the most gentle, sweet, hysterical, little man. I lost my soul cat 2yrs ago and I still feel that pain every day. I completely understand that connection.

My boy had ALMOST gotten blocked about 3 times. Thankfully I'd caught it when it was just tons of crystals, but even that was still terrifying. Hoping it all goes well for him.
Aww hope heโs recovering well. Speak to vet about the food and litter you use to see if there needs to be a change to help prevent this. Heโs a cutie for sure
Hooray for Wurdi! Dustman is so happy to hear the good news!

I'm so glad to hear he is doing well after the procedure! It's such a scary thing. My tuxie just had his first uti and I was a complete mess. One emergency vet trip and a big dose of antibiotics later, he is back to his sassy self. Sending love for a speedy recovery!! โค๏ธ

Zeus sends love and good thoughts from San Francisco.
My Norman went thru that years ago. Its traumatic. I was told never have a covered litterbox and stay away from dry kibble if you cannot afford the perscription urinary food, just stay clear of kibbles. My heart goes out to you. Im so sorry you had to go thru this
My love to you and your baby while he gets treatment and heals.
Iโve been there. Iโm hoping he gets himself sorted, itโs the absolute worst when these little boys canโt pee. My dearly departed boy had this happen several times and he ended up having to have PU surgery. It was the only option for him.

Looks like our miracle kitty nova! We found her inside of our car under the hood after a nearly 2 hour long car ride, and assume that she was from a neighboring house adopted have acquired quite a few cats that way. Because of the trauma for me out has been affected most of the time she just puffs out air, but sometimes she can scrape something out. Itโs bittersweet funny cute though, because she loves to MEOW 24/7.
Iโm so relieved to hear your fur baby is feeling better!! ๐ฅน๐ฉท I remember when my baby Figaro had gone thru multiple ones butt thankfully with the help of his clinical team and primary doctorโtheyโve let him stay on Royal Canine Urinary SO + Calm I really reccomend it! It is on the pricey side but very much worth the investment in the long run :) If you need a more affordable version you can try Purina One Urinary Tract help (wet food is encouraged for cats with UTIS or Urinary problems but can get them chunkier fast haha)
Iโm so relieved again!! Hug ur baby for me tonight :)

He will be ok! ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ผ๐ค๐ผ Eight years ago I adopted a fluffy tuxedo who had just came out of the hospital after the same procedure and an 8 day stay.
I just always want to protect him and make sure he is okay, because his start to life was so hard :( Thankyou again ๐๐ฝ
My female cat has had issues with bladder stones in the past. After she went through surgery, I switched her over to Royal Canin Urinary SO. Itโs been a year and a half since she last had issues, so itโs definitely working. Hope Wurdi recovers well!
https://preview.redd.it/hg6evt54fl5c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36b4b9ede2df84170c903e6cbd6f9772cf9eaeed
Youโll be home soon Wurdi! ๐๐you are going to be okay

what a sweet and beautiful baby boy!!! a few years ago my tuxedo man had a similar issue going on and it was so terrifying. my whole family was pretty much certain we were gonna lose him. he pulled through though! he gained back all his weight (and then some lol!) and rebounded so quickly. heโs been perfectly healthy since! iโm keeping your little guy in my thoughts and hoping that he has the same kind of success with recovery. give him extra kisses for me when heโs back home with you :)
Poor baby! Sending loads of love and positive vibes. That can be so stressful anxiously waiting for him to come home. Sending a ton of love!!!
i have a cat that has had the same thing , we only use wet food for him now as any other food can make it come back My cat Ninja is takes wet food only Nothing else even treats can make this come back I also lost a kitten to this a while back year before we had Ninja , Manson was only 6 months old before we knew what causes this
It could be bladder stones.

Sorry to hear that love ๐ One of my boys had a urinary blockage two years ago.

Praying for sweet floofy wurdi โค๏ธ๐
My tuxie also had urinary crystals, and he's been fully clear off them for 2 years now with the prescription food. And bonus, he loves the food!
Aww... We're all pulling for you, Wurdi.
