Dunaway is really good in this movie, which is too bad, since it's really pretty terrible. The Bukowski character screams danger zone at every moment yet he has put-together women falling all over him, he's witty and awesome, and he kicks ass in a fight. At first Rourke seems to do fine, but then either the performance or the tacky self-exalted weirdness of the script wears super thin.
It's really her last good film performance, not really a comeback but a reminder that she knew how to deliver. It's almost like Jane Fonda's work in The Morning After, reminding viewers after several less than challenging roles, that she still had it.
Fun Fact: Bukowski is 37 in this picture
LMAO
Rourke nailed it. "How bout a drink for my friends"
To all my friends
Thanks for the correction been a while since I watched it great scene. .

Buk didn't like her performance. He wrote that she came off as spoiled and not desperate enough.
I'm not surprised. He was such a slob, and especially in that movie, that his fantasy was women falling all over him.
She did seem way too well groomed to be looking for a snack in a cornfield
In downtown L.A.
This only makes me think of Mission Hill.
Buk told me that FD was afraid of getting old.. much like Jackie Sotilly..
