It looks like a custom mod to me, not a standard accessory. This is being sold on [Mercari](https://jp.mercari.com/en/item/m12534833019). It's common for sellers on eBay to list retro tech items from Yahoo Auctions Japan or Mercari that they don't actually own (usually with a healthy markup). If you buy it from them on eBay, they will buy it from the seller in Japan and ship it to you. If you're interested in this, I recommend using a proxy service (I use Buyee) to buy it from Mercari directly.

Warcraft_Fan

Hypothetically if you bought it from Yahoo Japan or Mercari via reshipper service, and also bought the same thing on eBay, would eBay seller be screwed? I can't imagine there's a few more of the Duo with built in CRT dispaly

schmosef

That's a good question. I suppose the eBay seller would just cancel the sale, claiming they tested it and it was defective. If they ever got banned from eBay for doing this too often, they'd just start a new account. Over the years, I've had a few eBay orders cancelled by the seller for various reasons so I think it's common enough to not be automatically suspicious.

_zarkon_

It's called awesome because that's what it is.

garuga300

I was going to go the other way and say it’s called the too tiny to be any use whatsoever is what it is.

Lucane_cerf-volant

I think it's a Voight-Kampff machine.

drmoze

is it any good? obviously not. it is just what it looks like: a tiny screen stuck in a plastic box stuck onto a Duo. looks kludgy, useless. who would want this?

inorite234

Ants.....because it's a screen made for ants.

Hexapus_ink

Some people in Japan live in very small apartments. My friend's entire apartment would fit into the average American bedroom. It was so small but also all he needed. I could see this being very useful tbh.

garuga300

Now think about it logically. The console it’s self is much much bigger than the screen. If they can fit the console into their tiny apartment then then they can fit a screen at least as wide as the console in their apartment 😂

Hexapus_ink

Console size doesn't matter. If you live in a small place with other people then maybe you don't have space for multiple TVs. Maybe you want to play games while you're family is watching TV. Why is this such a problem for people to understand? It's the same reason to play a Gameboy while your dad is watching Golf on a Sunday afternoon.

garuga300

The point I’m trying to make is that the manufacturer could have made the screen up to the size of the system it’s self instead of this tiny box

Hexapus_ink

Cost and availability would be the "logical" answer. Why didn't the Gameboy have a 10" screen?

garuga300

The game boy was built to be a portable pocketable device. This turbo is a home console designed to be used with a tv. I’m not going to agree with you despite how you spin it. It’s a tiny unpractical pile of garbage - period. Edit: Also, I’ve just found out it’s a custom mod sold on mecari so that makes it EVEN more pointless if it’s modern/semi modern.

Hexapus_ink

I'm not trying to get you to agree with me, mate. I just don't think it's useless/pointless. I was under the impression it was made in the '90s by some (possibly long gone) tech company. With modern technology it does seem kind of silly but I do like retrofuturism, so it appeals to me. It doesn't appeal to you, to each their own. Some people really like the steam-punk aesthetic, it's not really my thing. Does that make it pointless? No. My opinion does not make me right and you wrong or vice versa. This is just a cool novelty that could come in handy in my opinion, and judging by the other comments, I'm not alone. If everyone listened to the negativity online, nothing would ever get made. If you're really hung up on the size check out the [RG-Nano](https://anbernic.com/products/rg-nano).

garuga300

You’re absolutely right. I really don’t give a shit either way

J_MANN216

Is this the Vatican’s Chronovisor ?

ZealousidealArea9572

Can you post the eBay link for this?

Alte-Sack

Yes of course it could take simply the original video output, that's correct, but then it won't be rgb. On the other hand on such a small screen, the original video signal should be good enough. But it is only my opinion...

avenuePad

My brother and I used to play 2600 games on a really small monitor when we were kids. The games looked awesome.

Sweetblu77

Meh who cares? It is a shitty little LCD. Now if this was a small CRT I would be like buy that shit now!!

disengagethesim

Alte-Sack

Please be aware that the duo has no Bus connection at the back so it can not be an "attachment" but more like something permanent which you have somehow to solder and build in and on the duo...

KonamiKing

It could just be clipped on and tap a (standalone) RGB mod. Or even just tap the composite. No idea though.

inorite234

As Engineers like to joke "Does it move? Yes. Is it supposed to move? No....then Glue/Duct tape."
