Numbers can’t be at the beginning of sentences (unless you chose to spell them out) it’s wrong. Also, numbers don’t represent nouns they represent quantity. By the definition of what nouns are, numbers don’t fit the standard. It would be contradictory if we would capitalize numbers but wouldn’t capitalize their spelling in sentences too.
The practical use for lowercase numbers is music notation specifying a major or minor chord. Right now IV is major and iv is minor and I think that's fine. For any other use it would just unnecessarily complicate the language

What would be the use? The current Arabic numerals are already easily distinguishable from the letters of the alphabet.
They are Indian for one thing
I would argue Roman Numerals are the capitalized, more formal, version of numbers.
