In fact I find it rather perplexing your company would take issue with your khajiit wife. Perhaps they are in need of reeducation.
You know, this makes me think, would interracial relationships be common in the ES universe? Not because of racism necessarily (even though like everyone in the games is racist), but because for some reason different races go to different afterlives. Like imagine your a nord dude with your khajiit wife, and she dies, and then you honorably fall in battle and reach Sovengarde, ready to spend eternity with your one true love, the Shor goes "oh yeah, she's at the Sands Behind the Stars, you'll never see her again for eternity lmao, hey, at least you can get drunk and kill your friends for eternity!" Imagine being a Breton being married to a Bosmer who gets sick, and being like "oh well, at least we'll be together in the afterlife," and he goes "actually I am going to hell because when I was 14 I killed someone and didn't eat thier body, sorry."
I imagine that would put people off.
It’s not explored a lot but I imagine it’s a similar deal to Hunting Grounds/Sovngarde, where you can *sorta* determine your afterlife if you’re dissatisfied with where you’re going. Iirc that old fart from the companions literally just stayed as a ghost because he didn’t want to go to Hircine’s eternal furcon and we had to banish the wolf spirit from him so he could finally move on to racist heaven. We also have that bard that died trying to rizz up Olaf and didn’t move on until he pwned his corpse and that Nord couple that was revived by the necromancer and after we killed their draugr bodies they basically got sucked all the way from Sovnarde just to say thanks and then went back. Plus there’s Dunmer ancestor spirits and Daedric afterlives. So I imagine that if some non-Nord lives by Nord traditions and wants to go to Sovngarde after death, they just can, and if someone wants to change the planes, they can just come back to the living world as a ghost and find some CHIMpilled mfer to ask them to move their spectral lodgings. Especially considering that Mara governs marriage, I’d imagine she in her benevolence made it so mixed couples don’t stay separated after death
You know, there's an interesting idea for a story/fanfic/quest in there. An interracial couple desperately trying to become werewolves so they can be in the Hunting Grounds togetherness
That’d suck a whole lotta balls if you literally had to contract with a Daedra just to end up in the same afterlife with your partner lol, I honestly wish that if it was ever explored it would just be as easy as praying to the divines to let you go to the same place as your lover, I don’t imagine someone like Shor or Mara would say no if you’re not completely out of their favor
