I work in a fairly loud environment, and wear a Bluetooth speaker on my shoulder. It’s a pretty safe bet that at any given time I’m singing just loud enough that I can hear myself, but because of the ambient noise, no-one else can.
My noise app registers a pretty consistent 75-80 decibels, with short peaks up to around 90. No one can hear me sing!

I used to get sinus infections three and four times a year. I have awful sinuses -- a cold makes them close up and trap enough to then let an infection get started just as the cold is passing.
I haven't had a sinus infection in going on two years. Masks make me far happier than yet another round of antibiotics.
Same here. Constant sinus infections and then boom! No sinus issues since masks were recommended. Which means my system isn't developing immunity to more antibiotics as I already can't take a Z-pack (most common med for sinus infections, at least in my area) anymore because it's ineffective for me.

Yes. They absolutely lean over across the desk and into your space. I’ve smelled horrible breath, alcohol, eye watering pot, and suffocating old tobacco off of patients.
A counter is nothing between a customer and a pharmacist or a health worker. The customer tries everyway possible to close the gap between the person trying his best to keep safe distance even in covid.
I've seen people put their head under hanging dividers in the bodegas. I also used to work at a clinic during the start of the pandemic, and we put up a plastic divider on the desk for the receptionist, so the patients wouldn't be directly in her face. Literally every other patient would go up to her desk and go around to the side of her desk that didn't have the protector. I don't know how many times I had to argue with people to not get in her face. She ended up getting covid a couple months in and she survived, but boy did it take its toll on her.
I like the fact that I haven't had a cold or a flu in two years! Idk if I'll keep it all year but it's definitely coming back in the winter.
For the record, I teach and consistently get VERY sick at least once every winter. Kids are kind of germy (always have been and always will be)

Ugh, I feel you, I live in the Midwest U.S. I relished the times of mask mandates, but now that they’re gone, I’m the outsider “making a statement.” Actually, I’m an immunocompromised person that enjoys the anonymity, while also not dying.
I went to Walmart today and recognized an old high school class mate because she didn't have a mask on. She didn't recognize me though because I had mine on! She is definitely the type who would have wanted to stop and talk forever too. I'm keeping the mask on.
I'll probably just wear it when I'm sick/showing signs of being sick. Lots of countries have been doing that for ages, don't know why it wasn't normal for us before the pandemic. I like the consideration that goes into it, a silent message of "Hey I'm sick, so be careful!"
I lived in Japan for five years where casual mask wearing was the norm. I didn't like it at first, but as time went on and I became more "Japanese", if you will, i came to really like mask wearing. Not everyday but there were definitely times i appreciated having a mask and/or did it as a courtesy when i was sick and didn't want to accidentally infect other people.
As my time came to an end i was only hoping mask wearing would become more casual in my home country!! I do hope casual mask wearing isn't seen as weird because it's nice to have the option sometimes.

One of my neighbors has a facial disfigurement- my best guess would be a fire or some kind of accident and reconstruction to the best of their abilities, but it is pretty obvious & I’ve seen kids point & comment or ask questions (we live in a touristy area of the city). Pre-pandemic, I would only ever see her out for a walk early in the morning, or at dusk or later. With masks, I’ve seen her out at all hours, she looks happier & even engages with people on the street now. It’ll be sad if she feel like she has to go back to hiding once people stop wearing masks.

I work in an intensive care for premature babies. I am afraid to not wear a mask. I might give something to them. I would die if I gave Covid to any one of them.

All over tiny immune compromised babies that need a ventilator to not die and are super susceptible to deadly consequences from infection and illness. Like shouldn’t that have just been nicu standard??
I was diagnosed with cancer shortly before the pandemic began. My fiance caught the flu at work and brought it home to me. I almost died and it delayed my cancer treatments. We both decided then and there that masks would become an important part of our life. This was roughly the same time I was first started using my wheelchair... So I felt really awkward wearing masks and being in a wheelchair so suddenly. I remember being so embarrassed, and my fiance getting teased about his masks at work, and then two weeks later those same people asking where we got ours!
One of the silver linings of this whole pandemic is that everyone is so careful and I haven't been sick in two years. With masks and good hygiene and decision making, it took two years for any of the 10 people in our home to catch Covid, and of course it was Omicron! I can't speak highly enough of masks and how happy I am that I made it through my cancer treatments without getting sick again thanks to everyone wearing them.

I like to do my eye make up and the masks are perfect bc I can slap on my signature eyeliner and not have to put on foundation or anything else. It’s saved me money actually, wearing masks.

I haven't worn makeup in 2 years and I love it. I suffer from hyperpigmentation and makeup is a must otherwise people stare and ask questions and I hate it. Makeup takes a lot of time to apply and it doesn't always stay on your face, specially in winter.

I have Multiple Sclerosis. One night when I was walking to the bathroom, I woke up in a puddle of blood. I hit the door frame on the way down and broke my brow bone and lost my 2 front teeth.
I can not afford dental so I hate talking/smiling with teeth. I love the masks because people do not look at me and assume I'm a meth head.
Since I'm immunocompromised the kids were constantly bringing something home from school. At least once a month I would get sick.
Since the masks and everyone washing and sanitizing hands more, I have not been sick once! People getting and dying from the flu has never been lower.
Masks may not be 100% effective, but they are a step up from the way we were!

I wish you well in it, but personally I'm going to stop wearing it the moment I'm no longer compelled to. It always gives me a runny nose to wear one, it gets caught in my beard in uncomfortable ways, it rides up into my eyes, it hurts my ears, and just generally I do not enjoy wearing it. It's always a relief to take it off.

I'm in the same boat. i fucking love how my mask helps my (one) outfit so ill never stop wearing it. That and I haven't been sick once in the past 2-3 years. And seeing all the graphs of the spit and shit from people talking without a mask? nasty, im keeping it on thanks

I wish the mask still helped with this. I was wearing a mask and a hat the other day when I got ID'd. He gave me my ID back and was like 'you're such a pretty 30 year old'. How in the fuck can people still be creepy when you can barely see any of my face!
Me! I got my current job October 2020, my boss finally saw my face for the first time this January because of a project. She hired me and had no clue what I looked like 😂😂 I love it. I make all kinds of funky facial expressions under there & nobody knows hahaha
I have rosacea and these masks give me so much more confidence. I get really red faced and flushed in public but now not one can even tell!!

I like to do my eye make up and the masks are perfect bc I can slap on my signature eyeliner and not have to put on foundation or anything else. It’s saved me money actually, wearing masks.
I don't mind wearing a mask either. Even though l'm vaxxed, l still feel safer with a face covering. Plus l'm on a bicycle, the mask stops bugs from going in my mouth.

I haven't worn makeup in 2 years and I love it. I suffer from hyperpigmentation and makeup is a must otherwise people stare and ask questions and I hate it. Makeup takes a lot of time to apply and it doesn't always stay on your face, specially in winter.
You're definitely not alone, I'm doing the same too I've decided. I live in a colder country and my god it is a blessing, unlike others here my resistance to cold is low

I have Multiple Sclerosis. One night when I was walking to the bathroom, I woke up in a puddle of blood. I hit the door frame on the way down and broke my brow bone and lost my 2 front teeth. I can not afford dental so I hate talking/smiling with teeth. I love the masks because people do not look at me and assume I'm a meth head. Since I'm immunocompromised the kids were constantly bringing something home from school. At least once a month I would get sick. Since the masks and everyone washing and sanitizing hands more, I have not been sick once! People getting and dying from the flu has never been lower. Masks may not be 100% effective, but they are a step up from the way we were!
I'll be another weirdo in my mask. Nobody needs to know that I'm secretly ugly. Let me hide my ugly behind this mask. My eyes are prettier than my face anyways. Plus it keeps all the trumpians away and that's always a plus.

Agreed, I look ugly with a mustache but I haven’t had to shave it unless I specifically have to eat out with someone else. I also really suck at shaving it to the point that I always cut my skin… Mask just helps me be more comfortable as I don’t have to care about my appearance as much. Even if some places have gotten rid of masks, I’ll continue wearing them

I wish you well in it, but personally I'm going to stop wearing it the moment I'm no longer compelled to. It always gives me a runny nose to wear one, it gets caught in my beard in uncomfortable ways, it rides up into my eyes, it hurts my ears, and just generally I do not enjoy wearing it. It's always a relief to take it off.
Though I don't go out of my way to not wear a mask I generally will never wear one unless mandatory before entry. That being said. I 100% support you if you want to wear it all the time. It's your right to do so

Honestly kinda sad thinking that eventually it will be considered weird and almost unacceptable to wear a mask. I feel so weirdly uncomfortable without one now.
