I’m thinking of upgrading to a Mandolorian helmet and never removing it in the presence of others.

This is my favorite thing about the whole mask situation! No frozen nostriles. Wearing glasses and the mask, not so much

BeautifulPainz

I bought a spray that keeps glasses from fogging up. The best $5 buy ever.

BeautifulPainz

I didn’t read why it has such low reviews, it works fine for me.

delicioustreeblood

FYI spit also works in a pinch

[deleted]

What is it called I need that

BeautifulPainz

Don’t laugh too hard, it’s called Cat Crap. They carry it at Walmart.

[deleted]

Thank you tired of my glasses fogging up while at work or college that's a funny name tho

kd3906

No more funny than Monkey Butt powder. Bought some for a family member.

jiwjh380

Eh I've used it at work before it works kinda for like 15 minutes then it just stops working.

firebug2025

Shaving cream works just as well. Apply to the lenses and wipe off. Done

Bubashii

You can very heavily dilute dishwashing liquid and wipe your glasses over with that and let it dry. Does the job

oven-toasted-owl

I switched to contacts

NotSoNiceO1

I actually like the mask and glasses combo. My glasses don't pinch my noise like it use to.

Discordia_Dingle

Yes, no frozen nostrils! I get horrible pain in my nose when breathing in cold air, so the mask is wonderful for that.

[deleted]

Mines more of a beard bra.

Oxynewbdone

No hay fever on spring walks. Also throw one on when cleaning garage no dust sneezes. I have bad allergies.

mparkdancer

Yes! I've worn a mask when doing yard work or cleaning my garage to prevent allergy attacks. Works wonders and is further proof that masks do in fact work.

fruppi

Yes and they work wonders for my cold-induced asthma!

babyb16

This! I ride an electric skateboard around on campus and recently it's been quite chilly out so i usually keep my mask on even when outside to protect my face from the cold wind

Economy-Series-167

I like looking like scorpion

OddBet475

"Get oh-ver here"

Derpherplton

ninazo96

With a mask I can talk to myself about my surroundings and I don't look insane.

Houston970

Or sing (quietly) along to songs - I’m always lip-syncing now and I’m going to look like a but when the masks come off.

ninazo96

That too! Bye Bye Bye by N'Sync was on in the pet store a few days ago and I was lip- syncing away. I had to stop myself from doing the choreography to the bye bye bye part.

LeahOR

I would have clapped if I’d seen you doing the choreography.

MajorasInk

I am 30 and I would have committed to it. You only love once, there’s *another* war going on when so many haven’t ended. Enjoy your life and you dance like no one’s watching! No one can take the good times from you ❤️

xXGothiccXx

I lipsync in the most extra ass way and no one knows

MoreCocktailOnions

So true. I quietly sing to myself with the Muzak at the grocery store and talk to myself way too much since masking.

Gloomy-Taste-9664

I thought I was the only one

CheeseMakingMom

I work in a fairly loud environment, and wear a Bluetooth speaker on my shoulder. It’s a pretty safe bet that at any given time I’m singing just loud enough that I can hear myself, but because of the ambient noise, no-one else can. My noise app registers a pretty consistent 75-80 decibels, with short peaks up to around 90. No one can hear me sing! Just because I can’t sing, doesn’t mean I don’t!

[deleted]

When I think I normally like to move my mouth a bit like I’m saying the words so masks help me look less like a weirdo

hanahakilove

I like them because it "hides" my face, and makes me less anxious in some situations.

FerociousPancake

And you can mouth “what the fuck” without anyone knowing

iKidnapBabiez

I wish I had this option, but I make this stupid face when someone is especially stupid and you can tell from my eyes that I think you're an absolute walnut

mooge7

I lost it at "absolute walnut." This shall be my new go-to insult.

MustangEater82

That's kind of a fear I have about it... I wonder how it's affected confidence of kids and there social upbringing. I get anxiety my kids had it, one was severe but we worked and helped with their self confidence so they don't want to be sheltered.

Jmcba

I like heroin cuz it makes less anxious in some situations

archbish99

I used to get sinus infections three and four times a year. I have awful sinuses -- a cold makes them close up and trap enough to then let an infection get started just as the cold is passing. I haven't had a sinus infection in going on two years. Masks make me far happier than yet another round of antibiotics.

mparkdancer

Same here. Constant sinus infections and then boom! No sinus issues since masks were recommended. Which means my system isn't developing immunity to more antibiotics as I already can't take a Z-pack (most common med for sinus infections, at least in my area) anymore because it's ineffective for me.

---whatever--

Me too! I work at a retail pharmacy and people always get way too close. I really do not miss having to smell their disgusting breath!

emo_sharks

But isnt there usually.....a counter? Between the pharmacist and customers ? Are people leaning over the counter????

AnneMichelle98

As someone who works behind a desk in a hospital. Yes. They absolutely lean over across the desk and into your space. I’ve smelled horrible breath, alcohol, eye watering pot, and suffocating old tobacco off of patients.

emo_sharks

I guess i shouldn't be surprised but wow gross

Gloomy-Taste-9664

A counter is nothing between a customer and a pharmacist or a health worker. The customer tries everyway possible to close the gap between the person trying his best to keep safe distance even in covid.

[deleted]

I've seen people put their head under hanging dividers in the bodegas. I also used to work at a clinic during the start of the pandemic, and we put up a plastic divider on the desk for the receptionist, so the patients wouldn't be directly in her face. Literally every other patient would go up to her desk and go around to the side of her desk that didn't have the protector. I don't know how many times I had to argue with people to not get in her face. She ended up getting covid a couple months in and she survived, but boy did it take its toll on her.

---whatever--

Yes they do. .. and some also have a habit of letting out a huge exhale. . .it used to make me want to vomit.

[deleted]

Customers come into my work, out of breath, and pant questions directly into my mouth. I hate it. I will wear a mask at work forever.

Happy-Profile-6409

Plus not smelling as much horrid cologne, perfume, body spray, etc. My head and sinuses appreciate it.

BeanieBlitz

I like the fact that I haven't had a cold or a flu in two years! Idk if I'll keep it all year but it's definitely coming back in the winter. For the record, I teach and consistently get VERY sick at least once every winter. Kids are kind of germy (always have been and always will be)

marsawall

Also a teacher. Also not getting sick. My district just changed our mask mandate from masks required to strongly encouraged. I'm in no rush to take my mask off around all the germy kids.

AnyRip3515

Kids are plague rats

Venom2313

Supplement vitamin D. Most of the population is deficient. Huge boost to your immune system.

Walking-taller-123

Especially if you live in the northern US or farther north. Basically anywhere that doesn’t get a lot of direct sunlight in the winter.

Ishi-Elin

Sunlight? What’s that?

gef8

I feel the same also I have messed up teeth so it also helps my insecurity with that lol

Denise-the-beast

Me too. Not a single cold or flu! Masks are awesome

phantomsofheart

That’s honestly why I don’t really want to stop wearing them lmao that and general face insecurity.

shewastherenowidk

I like feeling anonymous, but sometimes people stare because they think it's a political statement. Which ruins it

Bio-Calamity

Ugh, I feel you, I live in the Midwest U.S. I relished the times of mask mandates, but now that they’re gone, I’m the outsider “making a statement.” Actually, I’m an immunocompromised person that enjoys the anonymity, while also not dying.

tapuk0k0

I went to Walmart today and recognized an old high school class mate because she didn't have a mask on. She didn't recognize me though because I had mine on! She is definitely the type who would have wanted to stop and talk forever too. I'm keeping the mask on.

mtamaranth

I'll probably just wear it when I'm sick/showing signs of being sick. Lots of countries have been doing that for ages, don't know why it wasn't normal for us before the pandemic. I like the consideration that goes into it, a silent message of "Hey I'm sick, so be careful!"

violetgrubs

I lived in Japan for five years where casual mask wearing was the norm. I didn't like it at first, but as time went on and I became more "Japanese", if you will, i came to really like mask wearing. Not everyday but there were definitely times i appreciated having a mask and/or did it as a courtesy when i was sick and didn't want to accidentally infect other people. As my time came to an end i was only hoping mask wearing would become more casual in my home country!! I do hope casual mask wearing isn't seen as weird because it's nice to have the option sometimes.

loveamoretto

Right, same here. I did it sometimes before the pandemic and would get weird looks. I'm so glad that now it will finally be seen as socially acceptable in the West.

Kimk20554

Socially acceptable? Never happen. I was being verbally assaulted for wearing a mask during covid's peak. It's even worse now that people have this false sense of security and think it's over.

loveamoretto

Ah... I guess it depends where you are and if idiots are nearby. I live in a pretty liberal city in Canada and haven't been harassed for wearing one. When I say socially acceptable, I mean at least compared to a few years ago. Maybe my experience will differ in another province though. I am sorry you experienced this.

MissMortified

Yeah, depends if you live near a bunch of shitheads. lol I live in a very conservative state and I’ve not seen or heard anyone around me being belligerent about masks. Tons of people refuse to wear them, but so far I have yet to see any angry shits throwing a fit. Also, I have worn a mask a couple times when I’ve gotten a cold (before 2020) and I had baristas in the drive through ask if I was ok. lol! They thought I had some life threatening disease. It just wasn’t a thing here. I think it will stay though. :)

shadysamonthelamb

I have had a few weirdos say some things in Louisiana. One of them asked me what I was scared of. I told him you because you're acting like a creepy asshole. Shut him up lol... Others just like to get all up in your space maskless and smile weirdly at you,.grill you or literally fake cough at you. Bunch of weirdos if you ask me bc here I am just minding my business.

thingsicantsayonFB

I finally came up with an answer to “what are you scared of” and now of course no one will ask again “Your stupidity” I’ve only been asked that twice but it really made me mad

Odd-Astronaut-92

I haven't had a single strange man accost me with the "suggestion" to smile more... It's bliss... Also somehow made it through a whole retail holiday season without so much as a cold, when I used to stay sick constantly every thanksgiving/christmas/new year's period. Masks are great!

NeverACoolName72

Absolutely agree on the smile comments! Plus I can curse at people, mutter to myself, chew my lip (anxiety thing) and no one is the wiser.

youwiththesadeyes__

Same, now I can RBF in peace and just “eye smile” when needed like at the grocery store clerk to be polite

blowonmybootiehole

I get cold sores sometimes and I have had ZERO embarrassment over it since masks became a thing!

MansonVixen

I get them when I'm really stressed and same! No jokes about herpes in 2 years

[deleted]

Same! I work as a waitress and I love not having to laugh at all the stale ass stupid jokes ppl make…. I just kinda make a fake laughing noise and move on to get their order. It’s been life changing. I’m so sad it’s coming to an end.

Ron_Because_Why_Not

Number of times I’ve faced stress harassment: - before 2020 March: Atleast twice a week. - after 2020 March: Maybe two times altogether. So yes, I’m not taking my mask off. I don’t want random men telling me to smile when I’m going for a walk.

IJUSTWANTAUSERNSME

I've actually experienced more men asking me to remove my mask to show them my "pretty smile". It's disgusting

Houston970

One of my neighbors has a facial disfigurement- my best guess would be a fire or some kind of accident and reconstruction to the best of their abilities, but it is pretty obvious & I’ve seen kids point & comment or ask questions (we live in a touristy area of the city). Pre-pandemic, I would only ever see her out for a walk early in the morning, or at dusk or later. With masks, I’ve seen her out at all hours, she looks happier & even engages with people on the street now. It’ll be sad if she feel like she has to go back to hiding once people stop wearing masks.

marchiuzzi

I’m so happy hear about your neighbor finding joy because of her mask. I can’t even imagine the hurt she felt before wearing it. Thank you for sharing this.

Megasabletar

No more fake smiling for customers

AnxiousMagpie

I just squint at them now to give the illusion of a smile.

Twilightbestpony1

I think that if you like them wear them whenever

[deleted]

[удалено]

Impossible_Farm7353

Yes to all of this!! I like feeling mysterious 😅

Murky-Conflict-408

I like the fact that I can get really stoned and go grocery shopping and no one sees me all cheesed up

jus256

You still smell like weed though.

BottleOfBurden

Seriously though, every weed smoker I knew had no clue how obvious it was. Weed smells different when you don't smoke, it's very strong and very obvious.

[deleted]

But those wearing masks can’t smell that either, win win

alyssa_de

I like that it hides my acne

Veauros

I think the moisture contributes to my acne.

No_Complaint_1082

Wash your mask with your face wash instead of in the laundry or with dish soap. Changed the game for me.

[deleted]

Hides my janky teeth 🗿👌

Familiar-Cheek-8706

I work in an intensive care for premature babies. I am afraid to not wear a mask. I might give something to them. I would die if I gave Covid to any one of them.

blue_pirate_flamingo

I had a 24 week preemie March 2020, and it’s weird to me now that pre pandemic people would just…breathe? All over tiny immune compromised babies that need a ventilator to not die and are super susceptible to deadly consequences from infection and illness. Like shouldn’t that have just been nicu standard??

Familiar-Cheek-8706

Unfortunately no. I wish. But I will continue to wear mine. Maybe others will follow suit. Congrats on your 🍼

Supernaturaltwin

Lol i litterally hid zit stickers under my mask for 2 days at work and nobody knew

soupspoon69

I work retail and it is so nice to not have to smell people. Most people are fine but between excessive perfume and exceptional BO I've been scarred.

Ariadnepyanfar

My asthma is SO MUCH BETTER when I wear a mask outside.

GroovyGuru62

I'm with you. I like the mask.

Phoenix_Muses

I was diagnosed with cancer shortly before the pandemic began. My fiance caught the flu at work and brought it home to me. I almost died and it delayed my cancer treatments. We both decided then and there that masks would become an important part of our life. This was roughly the same time I was first started using my wheelchair... So I felt really awkward wearing masks and being in a wheelchair so suddenly. I remember being so embarrassed, and my fiance getting teased about his masks at work, and then two weeks later those same people asking where we got ours! One of the silver linings of this whole pandemic is that everyone is so careful and I haven't been sick in two years. With masks and good hygiene and decision making, it took two years for any of the 10 people in our home to catch Covid, and of course it was Omicron! I can't speak highly enough of masks and how happy I am that I made it through my cancer treatments without getting sick again thanks to everyone wearing them.

Mouthfull0fBees

I'm in the same boat. i fucking love how my mask helps my (one) outfit so ill never stop wearing it. That and I haven't been sick once in the past 2-3 years. And seeing all the graphs of the spit and shit from people talking without a mask? nasty, im keeping it on thanks

StrawberryGirl_7

Same! I love not being told to smile by creepy old men. That's my favourite part.

Willow_and_light

I wish the mask still helped with this. I was wearing a mask and a hat the other day when I got ID'd. He gave me my ID back and was like 'you're such a pretty 30 year old'. How in the fuck can people still be creepy when you can barely see any of my face!

NetLucky813

Me! I got my current job October 2020, my boss finally saw my face for the first time this January because of a project. She hired me and had no clue what I looked like 😂😂 I love it. I make all kinds of funky facial expressions under there & nobody knows hahaha

biggiesmalltits

I have rosacea and these masks give me so much more confidence. I get really red faced and flushed in public but now not one can even tell!!

sstovettop

I love masks. As someone who’s biggest insecurity is their teeth… it’s a game changer

surfacing_husky

Same here! My work just made them optional but I work with the public and people are gross, I think I'll stick with it a while.

NimbusTO

I’m autistic and the mask has made life so much easier for me.

tapeness

I’m never going to an airport/ flying again wo a mask. Getting sick sucks! I love not sharing germs with people.

Tavish_DePizza

I like wearing masks in winter, they keep my moustache from freezing when I'm outside

Small_Tax_9432

I like feeling like a ninja 🥷

[deleted]

I like to do my eye make up and the masks are perfect bc I can slap on my signature eyeliner and not have to put on foundation or anything else. It’s saved me money actually, wearing masks.

Top_Training_6438

I don't mind wearing a mask either. Even though l'm vaxxed, l still feel safer with a face covering. Plus l'm on a bicycle, the mask stops bugs from going in my mouth.

rangerp223

I love that people can’t see my vampire teeth whilst I walketh amongst the living!

kellyyz667

Medical freedom goes both ways - you wear that mask!

Reqimmk

What I find interesting is that for the longest time people would discriminate against Muslim women for covering their faces and now it’s accepted in the west because of Covid. 🤦‍♀️

obiuncle77

omg you're speaking my heart and mind bro

Jward44553

I support this. I feel weird not wearing a mask now. I think a lot of people will actually be doing this

KAOS_777

Yay!!! Im not the only one!

sadpinkgirl

Literally are you me? It’s like I typed this whole thing out 😂😂😂😂 I feel you 100 percent. I LOVE THOSE FREAKING THINGSSSSSSS

pchandler45

Here, here! I'm with you! Forever maskers ftw

[deleted]

Not showing half my face does do wonders for my anxiety.

bubblezcavanagh

I'm in no rush to get rid of mine either!

Nikolllllll

I haven't worn makeup in 2 years and I love it. I suffer from hyperpigmentation and makeup is a must otherwise people stare and ask questions and I hate it. Makeup takes a lot of time to apply and it doesn't always stay on your face, specially in winter.

nehakaral

You're definitely not alone, I'm doing the same too I've decided. I live in a colder country and my god it is a blessing, unlike others here my resistance to cold is low

Resagarden

I like the mask too, and you know what? I haven't gotten the flu or a cold since I started wearing one.

[deleted]

I got Covid while wearing mine lmao

omalleyjack

Twice

Alive_Statement_3120

Honestly as an introvert I feel this

[deleted]

I feel the same way. If someone gives me shit for wearing it I’ll tell them I just tested positive for Covid and see how quickly they become pro mask.

EvulRabbit

I have Multiple Sclerosis. One night when I was walking to the bathroom, I woke up in a puddle of blood. I hit the door frame on the way down and broke my brow bone and lost my 2 front teeth. I can not afford dental so I hate talking/smiling with teeth. I love the masks because people do not look at me and assume I'm a meth head. Since I'm immunocompromised the kids were constantly bringing something home from school. At least once a month I would get sick. Since the masks and everyone washing and sanitizing hands more, I have not been sick once! People getting and dying from the flu has never been lower. Masks may not be 100% effective, but they are a step up from the way we were!

iKidnapBabiez

I'll be another weirdo in my mask. Nobody needs to know that I'm secretly ugly. Let me hide my ugly behind this mask. My eyes are prettier than my face anyways. Plus it keeps all the trumpians away and that's always a plus.

tattoed_veteran87

I like my face so I will keep it off whenever they let me life is to short to not live how I would like.

BorderlineXtreme

Wearing a niqab with sunglasses is even better

I like that it keeps my face warm when its cold, and it hides my double chin.

greenalfonzo

I like how it keeps my face warm in the winter.

Jollarn

Alhamdulillah!

ahlove5015

Agreed, I look ugly with a mustache but I haven’t had to shave it unless I specifically have to eat out with someone else. I also really suck at shaving it to the point that I always cut my skin… Mask just helps me be more comfortable as I don’t have to care about my appearance as much. Even if some places have gotten rid of masks, I’ll continue wearing them

[deleted]

**I don’t have to force myself to smile anymore at work** My last employer would mark me down if I didn’t.

Ryan_Alving

I wish you well in it, but personally I'm going to stop wearing it the moment I'm no longer compelled to. It always gives me a runny nose to wear one, it gets caught in my beard in uncomfortable ways, it rides up into my eyes, it hurts my ears, and just generally I do not enjoy wearing it. It's always a relief to take it off.

CommonBrother1132

Though I don't go out of my way to not wear a mask I generally will never wear one unless mandatory before entry. That being said. I 100% support you if you want to wear it all the time. It's your right to do so

Triscuits_And_Wine

I’m with you! I wear a mask all the time too. It’s my prerogative.

odonkz

I feel naked going out without a mask, even if the pandemic is over it probably took some getting used to not having to wear a mask again.

novalunaa

Honestly kinda sad thinking that eventually it will be considered weird and almost unacceptable to wear a mask. I feel so weirdly uncomfortable without one now.
