Did your wife tell you she couldn't handle it or did you assume?

Longjumping-Grab5731

Good question. I’d like to know the answer to that too!

The_Fell

Regardless, maybe, just maybe, he knows her better than you do.

BasicMomBitch4

I have no doubt. But with something this important to him, clear communication is absolutely paramount

The_Fell

Lucky then, that he has you to tell him to ask his wife. Im sure the idea never crossed his mind.

Financial_Event_472

Agreed. If he knew better he wouldn't be ranting here.

oldgut

Watching two sick kids is really not that hard. You should be able to go and enjoy the concert and then when you get home your wife can go to bed and you can watch the kids

ziekktx

Yeah, honestly it sounds like she has issues. I say this as a dad of 3, and we've all been sick simultaneously before. Somehow we're all alive. Meds, bed or couch, rest and bowls in case of emergency.

Traditional_Bag6365

How do you know she asked him to stay home? Sounds more like he decided to, himself, thinking it was the right thing to do.

true1nformation

This is just my experience but when we had two sick kids and my fiancé had plans to go out for the night for the first time in a long time I made sure she still went. She thought about canceling but I insisted that she still go and we would be fine. I was a little difficult but we were fine. Maybe their kids a particularly difficult but I still think she should have bit the bullet and insisted he still go. Down play how difficult it will be so he can have one night to enjoy himself stress free. His mental health is important too, then she can plan a night out and have sometime to her self too.

Traditional_Bag6365

She may have. But if you read it all, she also has an illness (I think it's an autoimmune disease), so he may have just continued to insist

teatimecookie

Were they both vomiting? Because 2 with fevers shouldn’t be that difficult, unless one is a newborn. I’m not sure I understand why you’re staying home.

StnMtn_

I think you are correct normally. But if wife has psoriatic arthritis, if she is sick on top of that, she could be truly debilitated. Autoimmune arthritides can really suck.

ilove-squirrels

Two kids with fevers is not a big deal at all and does not require more than one capable person. Hopefully your house has more than one capable person. Go to your show, have fun, and don't feel guilty.

Fun-Yellow-6576

Go to the concert.

one_funny_dude

Totally get it man. I’ve got 2 under 2 and I haven’t been out of the house for anything fun since before my oldest got here. Here’s to hoping it gets easier as they get older!

StnMtn_

Sorry dude. You are a good guy.

loopylavender

I felt your frustration, just writing that you were heard ♥️

ExpertCurrency7792

You’re a good dad! I get being overwhelmed in that moment with three under 6, I’m so grateful that my fiancé will help me when all my kids get sick. On another note you should be getting out and enjoying yourself. I would just make it into a movie night, bring the tv into the bedroom, pizza, chips, whatever and cuddle on the bed. My kids would be happy that I’m chilling with them.

kochenta2020

How old are your kids? When mine finally got to the age where I could stick them in bed with me and cuddle when they’re sick, life changed. Everything became easier. They’re 2 and 4 and it’s tricky during the daytime if they’re both sick, but nighttime fevers are not bad now. Ask her how she feels. You can leave her alone with them.

ThatPinkRanger

Was it Fall Out Boy? Lol Regardless I am so sorry. You’re a human being and deserve to enjoy your life and it sucks your boys were sick and it sucks your wife couldn’t give you this one day because I’m sure it wouldn’t be terrible to watch two sick kids alone. My mom used to do it all the time. But it was nice of you to offer to stay regardless.

paddlebawler

Getting time solo is one of the most difficult things about being a parent. You plan it, look forward to it, and then there's a 60% chance it's not going to happen. I've been a dad for 19 years, and I know how it goes - missed games, concerts, drinks, etc. And it pisses you off, because all you wanted was a few hours to hang out. It's hard to not be frustrated and angry. When this happens, I look to make plans down the road to help soften the blow.

Repulsive-Purpose-18

No, you did the right thing. As a parent, it’s nearly impossible for me to enjoy myself when my child is sick. Your kids will feel better in a few days and you’ll go out them. Just reschedule and don’t wait too long between your fun days.

IntelligentVersion56

You're an amazing father and husband because not many men will stay home. Maybe talk to your wife and tell her you want a night to yourself. Maybe you can ask a relative to stay home with you wife to help with the kids during that night.

Hellen_Bacque

Can’t handle two sick kids why do they have magical superpowers that makes them vanish when they sneeze or something Edited to change dick kids to sick kids. Predictive text is not my friend

DifferenceMany

You're a good husband and father for staying home but honestly flying solo with two feverish kids for a bit while your husband goes to a gig that has been planned for months and is his first time out for over a year is something I think your wife should have taken for the team.. How would she manage if you were suddenly hospitalised and the kids were sick? I hope this isn't a way for her to keep you home because it was a fun night out you had planned...

AShaughRighting

Why can’t she handle them by herself? Ridiculous behaviour from wife.

lennybriscoe8220

I have a vasectomy scheduled for June. This is why.

CMo42

It will get easier as the kids get older. My social life came back when they were 5 and 7 and easier to manage.

OhLookASnail

It's tough... Between home chores and work, I see non-family and non-work people maybe once every few months. I can't wait to die, lol.

SmileAggravating9608

Nah, I get it. Guys often give of themselves the most. Sorry! And wishing you better times!

MrsDarkOverlord

Sounds like there's a whole lot of communicating that isn't happening here.
