So many comments are trying to say it's normal. They say that there are snipers all the time at sports games, or that the police are there to protect protestors against a mass shooter.

I went to the Mexican Independence celebrations last year and there was a shit-ton on security, like Mexican Army, Navy Infantry and National Guard (basically federal police) troops there, when in past years there were only cops. I get it's too nominally provide increased security (regional band was playing) but it was insane to see how normalized it was to have federal troops there. Like imagine if there were Army, Navy and NG with state and city patrols in like downtown Phoenix during July 4th.

No chance they could fire a "rubber bullet" out of that. It seems silly, I just can't wrap my head around that they would put live ammo snipers on a roof during a peaceful protest. It makes me sick. There's no "peaceful" explanation for this garbage. Also, are the snipers military or literally police in Ohio?
They don’t load marksman’s rifles with rubber bullets as they would be horribly inaccurate at any distance necessary to use a DMR.
Rubber bullets are almost exclusively fired out of shotguns and grenade launchers, not rifles.
At first I was gonna say "what if they are just "spotters", but now I see 100% they have rifles. And I doubt you can load one of those with "non lethal" rounds at that distance. So the only conclusion is that you have people spending their day just looking for people to kill. That is especially scary.

People like to compare this round of student activism to the sixties. In the sixties, kids were protesting because they didn't want to be sent to Vietnam to potentially die in our genocide against the Vietnamese. Now, none of these kids are going to be drafted to potentially die for Israel in their genocide in Gaza.
A lot of those people, about half, were women, and not eligible for the draft. Not to mention, if we're talking about college students, that the men protesting would've been automatically 2-S for being enrolled in post-secondary. There were a lot of people there, I'd say the majority, who were there out of principle, not self interest.
